Do you think i could pull off just picking them off for a while though?
Of course you can. But you will probably end up with a bunch of seeded females that don't give you decent smoke. I'd get rid of them if you have any other plants around (ganja plants that is) that you don't want to get pollinated. Men always find away to get to that booty. ;)
Naw i dont have any others around this one. She's all by herself thats why i was willing to pick the sacs off and hope i can get them all while their small. They dont actually produce pollen until their a nice size correct? But anyway im thinking i might have the same problem with my drip system grow that is in a totally different room. I guess its time for me to order some feminized seeds. Any suggestion on whats a good strain for me to start out with? I want my drip system plants to not be so big because my others are pretty big and they have just gone into flowering.
Here's some pics of my drip system grow. I need a strain that will go good in this system. The yield is not much of a big factor for me as i am just learning and just want to get a good smoke stash. I want a good indoor/outdoor strain as well because i want to experiment with them both an see which one goes well for me.
can you can just pic off the male pollen sacks as they appear?yes you can.
I have had a few hermies befor and I would just pick off the male sacks as my plants grew and flowered.
and the buds that they grew were good enough at the end.
well good luck.
Those male pollen sacs do appear to be a pretty good size to me. There's always one that gets under the radar.....
Strains...when i choose a strain to buy I always want something with a big yield so I have not studied anything that doesn't say "huge yield" all over it. Can't help you with that one I'm afraid. Lowryder is the only one I can think of (i'm sure there's others) that stays small.....you might throw up a new thread and ask for opinions under strains and seeds ;)
weedhound their not really that big i zoomed the pics in to get a better picture of them for you. I picked one of last night and it was pretty small, the others are even smaller. I'll take some more pics of that plant that arent zoomed in on one particular thing. I'll see if you can spot them but if you say their big enough i'll go with what you say because as i said before im a big noob.
What kinds of big yield strains do you use? I wouldnt mine growing them as well it really just didnt matter to me. But i'll probably put the big yielders outside and i'll grow some in the drip system just to what works best for me with them.
Yes could be your zoom feature. Do remember this however. Male flowers usually appear BEFORE the female pistils...generally males show first.....I guess nature wants to make sure to jump right on that booty as soon as it appears and I do see pistils in your photo so it makes me wonder. I f you spray the pollen sacs gently with water it will help keep pollen from spreading....assuming there is pollen of course as sometimes they are sterile (but never when you need them to be...:( )
I thought she was a hermie at one point but those little sacs opened up and pistils came out of them. Maybe they werent sacs at all. O well just happy to report back that she's a healthy female and heres a few pics of her atm.
She's 4 weeks now, anyone have any ideas on when i should harvest her? She's a bagseed grow so i dont know what time would be a good time for her. Some of her pistils are beginning to brown as well as you may be able to see in some of the pics.
i may make this post my grow log i guess, i only have 4 weeks left i think?!
