cinco de mayo is a religious holiday in Mexico. In America it's a BIG excuse to get drunk and fucked up. People usually celebrate by drinking traditional mexican alcohol.
edit: mexicos independence day is not on may 5, I know the cinco de mayo isn't mexico's independence day. Idk when it is though.
