About the 'no-water-in-the-bong' thing...I may be wrong, but if THC doesn't dissolve in water, then surely it cannot be filtered by water (?)
The shit in the water is most likely from the plant by-products (leaf fibre, etc) and the actual sediment of the water itself...the THC should come through clean-n-mean, shouldn't it? Like I say, I don't know for sure, maybe an education is in order lol :)

THC isn't water soluable, so you aren't losing that in the water. But I've found I like my pipe better despite the slightly harsher hits, at least with good weed. You get a much fuller flavor and I just love the feeling of the smoke goin' in my lungs. With water bongs alotta times you can't even feel the smoke. ^.^ Just my 2 cents.

i once had a friend a teacher a mentor,,he had those things that test everything,,a speed freek,,the best one when it comes to pot,,,anyway,,,yes,,there is traces of all kinds of shit,,we checked and it holds hemp,from sides of one of my pipes i tried yrs ago,,before we went our ways,,it held thc it held resin it held mold,,it held acid,from already shitty water,,remember the water is staganat,,,,but back then,,we hardly ever changed water,,and i know every day change it,,but now i dont have to change shit,,,this guy could not shut up enough about bong water and why not to use it,,but,,he new what he was talking about,,he went to prison for making ntl news for growing,,he was a homemade chemest,,he would talk my head off,,i listened,,he was always on speed,,so i could do nothing but listen,,he proved himself to be the best in what he does,,once again look at water,,how did it get that colour,,why is it that colour,,i just say that myths are made to be broken finnally,,,,thats all my 69 cents worth,,,someone prove to me that thc is water solliable,,or ever how you spell it,,,ill shit my pants,,,dont trust books till you try it,,,,,dont show me it in writing,,it is a myth if you think it is water sollable or however you spell it,,even if only one percent trace,,it adds up man,,,so now how many people will test there bong water after a while of use,,not changed every day,,,Jack

I've read in numerous places that THC isn't water soluble - chemically speaking, THC is a chemical crystal made from the secretions of the plant (like, sap from a tree). It's why you can't make tea from cannabis, but can make Green Dragon - by using alcohol.

Sure, after all, a book is (usually) only the author's opinion, whether based on scientific fact or not - but, at least books will enable a person to make an informed decision or conclusion...but NEVER discount a book's worth :)

You gotta change it everyday, because, as you said before, the water gets stagnant and takes on it's own 'fetid' colouring anyways.

I'm not trying to say that you are wrong, I was just asking a question to clarify my own opinions and knowledge :) (ie, I always thought that water filtering was the best way to 'strip' the smoke of all the nasty little toxins that come with the burnt leaf).
I guess that the best results can be acheived by using alcohol (ie, Vodka) instead of water. Smoke the bong for a time, then strain the vodka, and drink - very nice :) (although, I only done this a couple of times - cannabis flavoured vodka :))

Like you say, HHJ, 'each to their own', but if we don't discuss the alternatives and different methods and ideas, then we get nowhere, init?

oh try this too but the bogn in either the fridge or freezer for like 1 hour or 2 b4 u smoke out of it it cools the smoke down i like hitting from a nice chilled bong :p
