LED growing- An instructional grow log
Thanks for putting in the time to document this grow. I heard about this grow log on another forum and have been following it for a little under a month. The only led grow log that has been worth following that I know of. Just had a couple questions:
How far exactly are you into flowering?
At this point does your grow seem to be following the same timeline as a traditional grow that you have done in the past with these strains?
Keep it up guys... thanks:jointsmile:

Hey man, lookin great in there!
SOOOO glad to see someone fully documenting their LED grow, especially with the relatively new Procyon 100. I'm waaay impressed.
Any idea why they seem be be stretching a bit as they get in to flower mode?
You're gonna be stoked and smoked when you harvest...
Any probs with spotting since the neem? I noticed them in early pics...
Keep doing an awesome job man!

lol.....sorry WH..will have the drop lights in there soon;)...yes everything seems to be going at the same timeline...but the resin seems to be much more than normal....not even at week 4 flowering mark, and have ALOT of resin on there...not a complaint by any means, lol....
-
LED growing- An instructional grow log
those superleds look kinda promising...basically the procyons with adjustable output...slightly better wavelengths....hmmm:smokin: see if they need a tester:thumbsup:

awww...stinky makes me blush:giggity: and per request from WH...put up a light in the grow and took more pics....tell me how they look, should i use flash? or are they good;). we are getting COPEOUS amounts of resin here for this early in bloom. looks like we are on point as far as bud mass goes too...maybe a little heavy even, but ill be careful in making that claim just yet....lol

Damn....they look GREAT! NICE looking buds coming up there Stealth.
-
LED growing- An instructional grow log
hmmm....they look a lil fuzzy, maybe turn off the fan next time...lol. if you look closely, in the last pic, you can see where i have had to start LST on the jack herer...going too wide and tall fast, so i bent and brought a couple branches together with their lovely buds pointing straight up....it will form a nice crown when they grow together...
-
LED growing- An instructional grow log
You got thrips in there or something? Plants look healthy but I see 'trails' on a couple leaves... catch those lil shits quick!
-
LED growing- An instructional grow log
lol!!! thats the same spotting i was having... so we flushed ALL the plants with 5 gal (3 gal pots)...and put neem oil on all of them...spots go way please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:wtf:
WT
-
LED growing- An instructional grow log
Not a fert problem- thrips. Get closeups showing the pale white/silver spots. Neem will help; loosely covering the soil surface with a paper plate with a slit cut to the center to slide over the main stem will keep them from breeding.
-
LED growing- An instructional grow log
That sweet DLONES got banned? I'm shocked! I'd love to see some close ups as well.....not real familiar with pest problems......I had it pegged as k def due to fert build up.
-

i told him to chill or he will get banned...fuck em!...lol better pest pics in a few.

Hey Stinky,
we sprayed em all down with the spray again VERY thoroughly. dont have any paper plates but have some black card stock (what the pics of the leaves are on). I placed a bunch of them in there to cover the top of the pot line across the whole room. this sound ok? I really want those bastards gone...NOW! :wtf:
thanks again for your help,
db:smokin:
-
LED growing- An instructional grow log
Well I FREELY admit I am no bug expert but that looks EXACTLY like my plants and their k def that happens when I get fert build up. Stealth did flushing help at all or am I completely on the wrong track here?
-
LED growing- An instructional grow log
i am with you here WH!!!! i am confused as hell....lol...flushing and chopping helped the first one....so we flushed them heavily yesterday....today i trimmed off a few more fan leaves(i know...it hurts) that were bad, and we sprayed them more with the veggie pest spray...i am at a loss....'

hey weedhound,
yeah, thats what we thought, but 5-6 days of attempting to fix that seemed to have no effect. we did a flush of all the plants yesterday, for the 3 affected plants its twice now at least. got some great flow out of the pots and didnt seem to change. our tallest "jack" got worse as the day went on today. and were not positive, but we believe we saw a couple of the bugs. extremely tiny, white body, worm shape, 1/4 to 1/2 mm sitting on the center petiole. is this what they look like stinky?
thanks WH for your help hope we get it down:thumbsup:

well my bible is eluding me but a found this:
The more common product which can be applied that
poses little risk or hazard is INSECTICIDAL SOAP. Used
by many "natural farmers" and regarded as not being
a true insecticide, Insecticidal Soap will quickly
kill off thriving thrips. It won't hurt plants or
produce which is growing but it will work on just
about any nuisance pest which is feeding and present
during applications. The big limitation of this
material is that it won't provide any residual; once
applied and dried it is essentially gone. This means
you will have to repeat treatments as often as
needed which is usually twice a week during growing
seasons and more if local populations are abundant.
If the thrips are too persistent and you want
something a little stronger which will provide some
residual, use PERMETHRIN CONCENTRATE. This is a
true insecticide which is odorless, easy to mix and
works on just about any pest in and around the
garden. Since it works well for whiteflies and aphids,
Permethrin is a natural for plants which are subject
to a wide range of pests. Most importantly, it is
the strongest product to use on fruits and vegetables
so if you have a garden you are trying to protect,
this is your best bet. It has a complete label which
includes just about any target pest, any plant - fruit
or vegetable - and 1-2 weeks of residual. Probably
the most common active ingredient being used today
by farmers in the agricultural market, Permethrin
has a wide range of uses and presents a low hazard
or danger to mammals

You may have two problems- the RUST colored spots from one source and the silver trails from the other, or the rust spots could be scarring from the damage of the trails... lol confused? :D
I think you have pests causing the trails. The spots COULD be k def, or they could be scarring. A bloom fert with more K isn't a terrible idea for next time if that's the case, and I doubt you have lockout keeping up on your other stuff so well. But either way there's the bug problem. A pair of pyrethrin bombs set off 4 days apart will kill ANYTHING bug-like in there. Go! DOOOOO IT!!! :D Get'em.
-
LED growing- An instructional grow log
Hope you guys solve it Stealth whatever it is......bugs is starting to be the main war cry here!!! :D

it comes in bombs!?!?! awesome, i have soaked myself trying to spray that stuff on/under the plants...lol i gotta go get some of those!!....lol and I am treating for both just in case...so they go one week without nutes....not really a bad thing, got flushed good too!!! these bitches better get better...heh

As stated earlier, I'm new here, but I'm also a grower wannabe. One question - I thought one of the benefits of indoor growth was the likely elimination of the insect factor. How would these insects even begin to bring their pesky little asses into, what has been, such a beautiful picture? Do you suppose there were larvae in the soil? Is there anything an indoor grower can do to prep the soil so that this doesn't become a familiar incident?
Thank ya

hey sproketman,
elimination is hard to achieve, but yes you should be able to control them and ill be getting the bombs today. no, i doubt they were in the soil due to using Ocean forest indoor growing soils. also they probably would have shown much earlier. the room is "near" sealed but any thing that small is will find its way in. growing plants attract insects, such is life. ive seen in researching this there are pyrethrin powders...so maybe mixing in or dusting the top of the pots with it as it appears thats where they breed. (see stinky learn something new every day:thumbsup:) pyrethrin seems to control many different bugs too so i wouldnt see where it would hurt.

Plenty of ways unfortunately. :(
Eggs can be brought in attached to clothes or shoes on a gardener in even the best sealed greenhouse.
The little buggers are sneaky.

so... I tried to find some pyrethrin bombs but apparently they dont sell at the major stores or the hardware store. tried to find grow shops in the area and can only get nurseries. cant order online till friday but need it before then. any ideas?
they seem to be doing better, still not producing but better.

Bombing should work, but you can also dip. I've found that spraying doesn't work because it's nearly impossible to cover all surface areas of the plants. Get a 5 gallon bucket and fill it with an insecticide solution of your choice, the stronger and more toxic the better. No tree huggin safe or natural crap, unless you just like wasting time and money. Hold the dirt in your pots with a towel or piece of Styrofoam, and turn the plants upside down and dunk them. Shake them gently to get all the air bubbles out, then put them back into your grow. Also thouroghly drench the soil, pots and all surfaces of the grow area. Normally you would need to pull your lights about 4 feet back until the plants dry, but I don't think you need to worry about it in your situation. I highly doubt that they will burn with LED lights that far away. Of course if you want to easily get rid of all pests, use a No Pest Strip by Spectracide. You and others probably don't think it will work, but you and others are wrong if that's the case. The strips work wonderfully, and of course are the easiest and cheapest solution possible. Just turn off your ventilation for one night, and in the morning, all pests will be dead. I promise, as long as you follow the instructions and double the recommended dose. As far as eggs or babies, leave the strips in there for a week and everything will be dead. Really. If you don't believe me, as many others have not, it only costs about $8 to try one. Wouldn't that be worth the gamble, even if you bought 2?

opie,
I was trying to find strips at the same time but all i saw was the hanging ones, and as they arent flying, i wasnt sure. i didnt have a brand name before but I will definitely go back and try to find them.
and opie ill trust whatever you say about growing...well, except maybe lighting issues...:lol5: j/k
thanks again, gotta run to the store before work

I didnt get exactly those opie. but they are 2 large 4"x8" glue traps hor mice. i put a couple of strips of yellow and red elec. tape. i saw some glu strips on-line last night and they had them in those colors so i figure it cant hurt. placed one at pot-line of the attacked plants and one next to the wall.
gotta run
