Rasta = 16? hmm. Im only 18. He is quite educated in this field, and so are you Turtle420. I feel far behind for being a simple hobbyist.
I need to come on the forums more than just a few days a week, I see I missed a bit.
At least I get the benifit of learning.
BTW: It's Seltzer water that doesnt have those sugars in it? I kinda made the mistake and used tonic water on a plant a bit long ago and it kinda left a thin film of sticky substance on her. She grew tho, and it went away..
(I sometimes will do something stupid.)

Hey Bonez,
Thanks for the complements. I trully learned everything I know from these boards and Overgrow's FAQs.
Before these boards, I would have sworn that the best nutes for cannabis plants where Orchid nutes... I just wasn't informed at all. :p
As to the seltzer water... no idea. Sorry. Let's see if Rasta or somebody knows.

Update...
In the pic, you can see the girls. My favorite is the little one. :) But, I really doubt I'll take any clones off her... she's just growing too slow.
The other ones, I LSTed them on Wednesday (Day 43). I tied up the base of the stem, then tied the gardening wire to an upper part of the plant (stem). Then, being carefull not to 'snap' them, I pulled the wire, and there... they're bent.
What most impressed me was that, within 2 hours of being tied, the stem was already growing upwards! In less than 120 minutes the plant took measures because of its new situation... wow...
Today, I tightened the wires a little bit. I'm trying to get them not to grow that tall... Remember, I ain't going to flower these... these are the mothers. Problem was that my planned mother cab, is 12"x12" with a height of 24". And in those 24", it has to fit the pot (aprox 6"), and the CFL fixtures on top. So, that doesn't leave that much room for the mothers. So I tied them up. hoping they fit nicely in their cabinet (yet as un-built).
Secondary growth is coming along... but DAMN! I need to wait for the secondary growth, of THAT secondary growth so I can clone... this sucks. I should have started over way back in August. :(

I use canada dry "tonic water" never had a problem with a sticky film building up.... may be the brand you are using, check the ingredients throuroughly. Turtle, you need to think about transplanting very soon... I don't know why I didn't say anything before as this could be a huge problem... The most logical action would be to kill off the runts and transplant your two bigger plants into 3 gallon pots. Their roots are fighting for space.. this is gonna inhibit growth majorly.
Peace

Hey Rasta, good to see your post.
Here's the situation: I thought that I would be able to clone for sex before they got too big... then, once I knew the females, I would kill off the males... and just leave their roots in the pot.
Do you think that root-space crunch will inhibit them growing properly, for them being mother plants?
I can replant... I've got no problem. Let's see how good of a green thumb I have...
What size pots? 3gallon? Again, they're just mothers.
I've planned a 1'x1' with 2' height mother cab. Once I clone my 15, for the actual hydro grow, I'll put the mothers into that 1x1 cab. So, if I've got too big pots, they won't fit in the 1x1. PLUS SIDE: I still haven't built the 1x1 mother cab. What do you think? Make it bigger?
I'm just trying to stop this grow from consuming every inch of my house... stuff here and there.... cabinet in the closet... cabinet over there... LOL!
Rasta, thanks for the input... awaiting your thoughts on the matter. :)
Best,

"I would kill off the males... and just leave their roots in the pot. "
Precisely what I was suggesting you do with the "runtier" plants you have.. The roots will simply break down and further fertlize your soil! And yes, a three gal would be best for your mother plants, they are going to endure a long life, and, well, roots don't exactly stop growing.. base your cabinet dimensions on how much space two 3-gals take up (I'm gestimating 2' by 3') + however many feet of vertical growth space you need with and work with that. Let me know how things go...
Peace

What strain would you pick?
Hello Rasta, guys,
I've been thinking:
I want to use my current plants as mothers, for my grows. For this grow that I'm going to do, I'd like to take 15 clones.
Expecting the semi-worst case scenario, where I end up with only one female out of my four plants... Can 15 clones be taken from one plant? How big does it have to be? Should I give her 'vertical' height (as I'm LSTing her)?
I'm just wondering if 15 clones from one plant is possible...
Next thing: Cloning ETA; When the hell am I going to be able to clone?!
I mean, as Rasta said, I've got to wait for the secondary growth, of the secondary growth... so, more or less, the third growth.
Problem is, my current secondary growth sucks! I mean, they're just tiny-ass little leaves!
I've got fresh air coming in (100% sure), I've got 400W worth of MH less than 3 inches away from them... I'm watering with a mix of Brita-filtered water (still haven't hooked-up the RO filter yet)... The mix is: water, SuperTHRIVE, Schlutz Cactus Food, FulMag, and bat guano (10-2-0).
Jesus!!! They're growing so freaking slow!!! I'm going insane!
Here's my crisis: I'm expecting, since the day I can take the 1st clones to 'clone for sex', it's going to take 30 days to actually start the grow... The math is, more or less,:::
15 days, 1st clones 12/12 to 'clone for sex
then I know my females...
15 days for 2nd clones, then use them in the actual 15-clone grow.
So that gives me 30 days... and my secondary growth, as I see it, isn't nowhere near ready to get cloned... not even in 2 weeks... so, I won't be even STARTING my actual grow before January 15th!!! So, I'm harvesting for April ?!!! And smoking in May?!!?!!!! OH MY FUCKING SWEET FUCKING GOD!!!
This can't be... it just can't be! Somebody PLEASE help me out... I can't ... Oh god....
Seriously disturbed by the slow-ass space-time fabric flow through space,
-turtle420
PS: My temps hover during the night around 80-82 Farenheit... and during the day, they're about 88F, with a peak of 90-91F.

Heya turtle.
I see your in a situation.
Do you honestly have to take 15 clones? You could take near 5-10 with 2 plants and them veg them for another 3-4 weeks, and flower. ( In 2-3 weeks more of veg to get more growth )
I think you could harvest that around january / febuary.
You could harvest later down the road if you wanted to LST your clones and get even more bud, but thats not cool for ya since your gonna wait.
By the way, your plants would almost double in size once your start flowering them if ya didnt know.

wassup turtle..sorry to hear the grows getting you frustrated growens a hard job but u cant move a mountain over night and even if you knew how to it'd take years to learn the skillz to make that task possible...i guess what im trying to say is this being your first grow dont overexhaust yourself take every step in stride and experience...that being said hope the best for your grow...p.s. photosynthesis occurs best for these plants at 74-76 degrees maybe thats whats stunting your growth could it be something as simple as that?!lets wait to see what the elders say...

Hi turtle.. Im gonna be a complete noob and suggest that you feed it tap water  just leave it in an open container for a few hours before giving it to the plants.. and don't hold back on the pictures ;)

Fugitive...
I'll take your advice. I'm going to take the wierd plant and feed her plain, filtered (Brita) and left-sitting-for-24-hours tap water... let's see what happens.
I'll post pics later today, then more to come as the updates get around.

Joel,
Thanks for the input my friend. :)
As to the 15 clones, well... I just wanted to get as much bud as possible... so I thought up of the '15' number... any and all input is welcome. The cabinet is 20"x40"... definitely have to LST/SCRoG them. I've got a cool tube, which will have 1000W when flowering (600W HPS + 400W MH). So, I think that for my 20x40, 1000W is pretty good... if not super good.
Then I thought, 15 clones... at least 1 ounce per plant... 15 ounces... :) = turtle happy. Happy happy turtle. :D
Please, input if you will.

What's up BkSkillz!
Thanks for your reply dude...
Your input really helped. This quote calmed me down:
this being your first grow dont overexhaust yourself take every step in stride and experience...
True, true.
More updates to come in a while guys! :)
Thanks for everything all,
