The bulbs cost 14$ +- at the local Canadian Tire.
The sockets, approx. 4$.
I'm done to 4 now.. but at least they're all girls.
The plant with the funky pheno-type turned out to be male.
Day 6 of 12/12 and 3 of the 4 have popped pistils. the 4th, is looking very female..so i'm pretty confident i've weeded out the only male from the crop :)
On another note, i've decided to tie the females down..Mainly to open the lower branches and yield more..and also to reduce the amount of space i've needed.

LST is a beautiful technique to master...
Master it, and you master the Sea of Green.
A work of art...

So high!
Just a quick update.. sorry i've been out of it lately.. life has kinda sucked the big floppy one for a while. but meh. :stoned:
Going on day 17 of 12/12. All 4 now are showing pistils.
Had one of the secondary branches touch a bulb...not a total loss.. but woops.
The smaller plants also seem to struggling with some nutes a bit..not bad. but hopefully they hold up okay.

Love your threads BobBong. Keep up the good work!
CFL's rock! I was lucky enough to find some that are 48watt - 240 watt equiv. in both the 5000k cool white and 3000k warm white variety. I got 3 of each and will start a thread soon. Make sure you check it out and let me know how you think I'm doing.
Thanks again for the proof that CFLs work and that they work well.
One question though - how are you controlling issues with heat?
Compact Fluorescent Light Discussion
Thankfully heat isn't a big issue. although i don't need more... it's not to bad right now. I keep my window open during the day.. keeping the room pretty cool. I also have a vertical fan blowing past all the bulbs.. carrying out the hot air..
Going on 35 days @ 12/12.
