yo m8....:D It's good to trim a lil' off the bott, concentrates growin' on main branches :greenthumb: my bitch is still growin' hard, will start PH'd feeds tomorrow....picked up a bottle of grow & some sinkers today....more pics....
#1 these weighs about 10 grams each....#2 the good stuff :greenthumb: #3 cab open, light on :smokin: #4 top section w/ ballast, fan, etc....needs to be ventilated some more yet....#5 cab shut, eventually I'll get a piece of ply the size of the front section & fix it like a big door, that way I can mk a vent down low that wont let light in or out & can mk it semi-lockable...LOL :D

yo...I tied down the WS ova @ the in-laws t'other day....when I bent over the top 2 to see how they would go, the main stem split....oops....a bit of electrical tape & she'll be right m8 :greenthumb: it still hasn't shown sex proper either....only a couple of small pre-flowers here & there that look girly ;) pics....#1 the WS b4.... #2 is after....#3 is a mongrel bagseed sativa the m.i.l. has got there, it was started way too early & flowered....now it's re-veging....topped way too late as well....it's over 4 feet tall....dodgy tie job as well....:stoned: have fun at work dude :D :stoned:

LOL, that's funny m8.

i potted up me clones in coke bottles, i got some panda plastic to cover them in but can't be arsed at the mo. :) - made some holes with a soldering iron and put some perlite in the bottom. i don't need much dirt for em as they go into flower when the first two are finished.

I might scrog that big vegging plant after taking a few clones first. it's making it akward keeping the other plants near the light.

how hot does it get in your cab with the light on? i got an interview for another job tomorrow :D

wow dude...they are getting very frosty....good idea with the coke bottles, u can pack a lot of 'em together in a small space & still get good root space :greenthumb: the big veg. plant of yours looks like a huge bonsai....it should throw a lot of buds....not sure exactly how hot the cab gets....no thermometer atm & not left the light on long enough to get really hot in there...another thing on the list....:stoned: :D I just read that low-powered crops can take approx. 20% longer to flower....so,the max flowering days for the WS is 50 days, or so it says on the packet, + 20% (10 days) = 60 days....about what you thought it might be....I'd be taking closer inspections with intent to harvest from about day 58 or so....have you stopped feeding them & started flushing ?? at about this stage is when I usually pierce the stems to really get the resin flowing....& a bit of sugar in the water to make the buds heavier & to sweeten them :greenthumb: ....here's some more pics....:D the top row of branches is filling out....:greenthumb:....look what I found at the bottom of the pot....

looking nice and healthy there bro. he he, yeah buds are frosty man, that's why i can stop picking em :D the trichs are mostly cloudy on one of the plants. I stop feeding this w/e - wos that about piercing the stem? never heard of that one - i'll have a read-up on it.

yah the 'bonsai' has been topped a couple of times, it's well bushy :) i'm gonna make a frame to scrog it. it's gotta about 4-5 weeks more vegging before there's room in the flower cab though. it'll be interesting comparing yields from sog, scrog and lst.

the piercing trick I got from an old book that I have called 'Marijuana Potency' by Michael Starks (And/Or Press:1977)....here is some quotes from it....

"Splitting the base is another practice believed to increase potency. In India, farmers reportedly twist the base of the stem or the flowering tops sometime before harvest. In Mysore, they twist the stem of the 2 month-old plant, then bend it horizontally & sometimes tie it in that position to encourage side branches. Still another custom, reportedly practised by the Burmese, is to split the stem about a month before maturity & insert a piece of wood, then gather together the tops & push them into a basket. (!)

In Mexico, farmers insert slivers of acote, (a type of pine) through the root of the plant below ground level when the plant is about 4 feet high. They claim that this prevents the formation of seeds & gives the MJ a piney flavor, both highly unlikely.

The Tepehua of Oaxaca, Mexico produce extremely potent MJ by growing the plants in a hostile environment & by severe pruning. They pinch off the tips from young seedlings, thus removing the apical meristem with it's high concentration of auxins. This leads to the production of many lateral meristems. The new lateral meristems are pruned once a week to produce a small, urn-shaped bush. Shoots that would ordinarily fill the interior of this "urn" are also removed. The exterior looks almost crystalline due to the heavy resin accumulation, & many plants develop a red pigmentation (cyanins). The leaves change from the ordinary palmate shape to verticillate or whorled (like the spokes of a wheel) balls of entire (smooth-edged) leaves & abortive (incomplete or immature) flowers. When the blood-like colour begins to appear, 2 wooden splinters are inserted through the stem just above the ground at right angles to each other. At present there is no evidence that this latter practice has any effect on potency, but it is interesting to note that the stems are similarly bruised or impaled by various Asian MJ farmers.

To sum up, though many peoples around the world prune MJ plants, or split their stems, there is no scientific proof that these practices increase potency. However, any kind of stress tends to increase potency somewhat, though usually at the cost of decreasing the total yield. "

There is another passage somewhere in the book, I'll find it & post it later. I usually pierce about 2 weeks or so b4 harvest....I tried to take some higher-res. pics of old plants with piercings....you can see the stake anyways.... I am a definite believer in this technique m8, after it's done you can almost see the resin increasing :greenthumb: I use a pocket knife to stab the stem, give it a good wriggle to make some room in the wound & then literally hammer the stake thru....sounds brutal & looks fatal but it won't kill them :weedpoke: They all finish normally, the buds keep filling out....just got lots more resin all over the plant :greenthumb:

nice work m8 - i'll give that a go on one of my second two ladies so I can compare them. I was gonna chop one next weekend cos i got a friend visiting who likes a puff. I've only been taking buds off of one plant so that'll be chopped and i'll leave the other until i see 30-40% amber.

:D Ya m8, that's the go....on all points....LOL :stoned: I have gifted 2 plants to a good m8....1 of the WS sprouts & 1 of the PP....I had to drive for an hour or so thru the Hills to take them to my m8's place, at the moment it's crawling with cops looking for an arsonist lighting bush fires :eek: so, it was an interesting drive....only 1 slight heart attack when a bike cop walked out to the road in front of me in some small town up there....anyways, total number here now is 7 plants, 4 PP & 3 WS....here in S.A. you can have up to, erm, it was 5 , now I think it's 3 or 4 , outside plants & just get an on the spot fine with no conviction if busted, any more than that & it's called 'a commercial quantity' & ya gotta explain to the judge....indoor hydro is different now coz they know that big hydro crops are commercial & they have tried to crack down on it....LOL....the indoor hydro industry down here is fookin' huge m8....most of it goes interstate, all over the country, prolly even cold ol' Tassie :D ....there's not many places in the world where you can get a oz. of primo indoor hydro weed for $200 AUD....there is just soooo much weed grown down here m8, I reckon that at least 1 house in 5 has a grow room....lots of syndicates just set up whole houses (rented) full of weed....see them regular on the telly news....also see on telly lotsa fires caused by grow rooms....1 dude up in the Hills region fried himself in a grow room last year....silly prick....
oh, yeah...the big bitch has greened up nicely after it's 1st. proper feeding with the grow juice :greenthumb: I'll post a pic in a couple of days or so & you will see the difference....
