Hey turtle, I have nothing to say that can help you, but I read this whole thread and I'm amazed at your tenacity. You fought tooth and nail for your ladies, and I just wanted to say that I'm deeply moved and impressed. Keep fighting the good fight, and heres hoping you soon enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Let's see...
Yesterday, and today.... my power company decided to play with me and my entire town a little... so they just threw the power switch to off for a while... then to ON, then quickly to off... then they very quickly changed back and forth between on and off... until they just took their lunch break and left it in the off position.
So, I took my girls out of the cabinet so they wouldn't be in the dark. And because I didn't have no power, I needed to use my resources. So, after giving the problem some serious thought, I said "fuck it!" and went ahead and did what you can see in the picture below.
I trully hope my neighborghs are tokers, because then they would see the little ones and recognize them... but if they're tokers, they wouldn't tell on me... but the girls are simply too small to be diferentiated... but then again, it's three small plants, in the middle of the yard, for no apparent good reason.

Yeah. Pretty amazing. Who's instructions did you use for the cooltube or did you make it up as you went along? Nice work.

Hello everyone… This is my try @ a Cool Tube how-to.
I was inspired by Mellow Man, and here’s his excellent FAQ http://boards.cannabis.com/showthread.php?t=38520
I’m writing this up, not because I find anything wrong with what’s out there for making a cool tube, but because more ideas are better. So, without further adoo, here it is…
1. Well boys and girls, and all in between that are still undecided, welcome! We’re going to follow me on how I built a cool tube. Pic1 you can see almost all the stuff you need. Partial list of needed materials:
w- Cool Tube (I used a Pyrex Bake-A-Round… eBay)
w- 3” diameter, schedule 40 (although I think 80 will work) PVC pipe
w- 3” PVC couplers (female-female)
w- Aluminum bar for ΒΌ plywood finishing
w- Dremel (although you can do everything with a handsaw and hand drill)
w- Handsaw (!)
w- Hand drill and a couple of bits (different diameters)
w- assorted tools: pliers, screwdrivers, etc.
w- Socket(s) for your bulbs
w- screws (2 for each socket, I used 4 total) + their nuts and washers
2. On Pic2 you can see the aluminum bar… You need to place the bar over the PVC coupler to determine more or less where are you going to cut it
3. Pic3 you can see the bar already cut, and marked down with black the part that will be sawed off. The bar is slightly longer than the diameter of the 3” PVC coupler… it’s probably about 4.5” or 5.5” long. The reason we’re going to cut the blacked-out parts is because you only want a flat-shaped part on top… not the entire “U”. This flat part is the one you’ll insert through the ‘top’ of your cool tube… so, the walls of the “U” will stop the bar from going all through the PVC coupler… it’ll be clear in the next few pics.
4. Pic4… sawed off parts…
5. Pic5, as you can see, I’ve more or less marked up where the U bar will trespass the PVC coupler… then, with the Dremel, I cut it. You can probably do the same with a handrill and some patience… This U-shaped part of the coupler is the bottom of the cool tube. There’s a slit on the top of the coupler… so, looking @ pic 4 and 5, you can see that if you insert the U bar it will stop where you want it.

6. Pic6 and Pic7, U bar inserted into the coupler.
7. Pic8 and Pic9… Now, these pics you’ll want to study. You can see one finished end of the cool tube. You can also see where I cut and drilled the U bar. In the finished coupler, you can see how it all fits together. You pass the U bar into the coupler, then place the bulb socket in there…. Then you screw it in place with your hardware (screws, nuts and washers). Pass the cables through the holes…
8. Pic10… finished couplers.

9. Pic11… basic layout…problems already arised… As you can see, two bulbs will not fit in there. At least not my two bulbs. I have one 600W HPS and a 400W MH. The spaces that are between the couplers and the Bake-A-Round will get a piece of PVC pipe in between. In this picture you can see that I tried to place the bulbs in a happy-medium. There are parts of the bulb that will be out of the cool tube, but those parts don’t product light. The actual parts inside the bulb that emitt light, those have glass around them. Wouldn’t make sense to cover your lumens, would it?
10. Pic12… Almost finished cool tube. As you can see in here, I placed both bulbs. It’s not finished in this pic because I didn’t have aluminzed tape… so I had to wait till the next day to buy it (no 24hour hardware stores over here!). All you need to do now is seal up the Bake-A-Round unions with the PVC pipe with your aluminized tape. You can use S-hooks to hang the cool tube… you can see the holes drilled for that between the power cables.
