Raiz' First Grow Log - 3 White Widow Seeds from Nirvana
Well it's Saturday, and you know what that means. Picture day!
Today I transplanted the clones. They were really starting to take off, and the main root was out the bottom of two of the cups, so it was time. I'm sure they'll be happier in their new homes.

I'm not sure if I'm a badass pot-grower with a green thumb, or it's just dumb luck, but this cloning business seems pretty easy. None of the clones really showed any signs of stress, and all three have good roots. For light, I'm only using an 8 watt light I got at Office Depot when I was in college to do my homework under... which definitely isn't the brightest light. I also don't have any ventilation in the grow area. This will be the next thing to fix.
On to the main plants...

It may be difficult to see growth because I keep putting them under the screen, however it is happening. Also, there are hairs on almost all the new growth sites, so I can tell now where my buds are going to form from. It's hard to believe I'm going to be doing this for the next 2+ months... damn sativa plants!
Here's a pepper update. My girlfriend is super excited to get cookin with these peppers. Anyone know when it's ok to pick em? I've read that the redder the pepper gets, the hotter it gets, but we'd like to try some green ones too.

I am not positive about the peppers, but I would say that you should let them grow a little bit depending on how hot you want them... What kind of pepper are they?
The ladies look great. The juniors look like they are getting a little stretched, but good. I would say you need to either lower the light in your clone "box" or just add a few lights...
Depending on how your grow goes I am thinking of buying some white widow seeds.

The girlfrield and I got anxious tonight, so we ate a pepper. It's a cayenne pepper plant that my girlfriend named Shyanne. :icon220: That lil f*er had some kick and it was still all green. Pretty good flavor too, but a bit soft. I suppose it needs more growing time.
The clones are definitely stretching. That 8w light isn't enough for em, but I'll just keep topping them if I have to. They've got at least 2 months in that little chamber until it's time for transplant into the big room.
The WW so far has been pretty easy to grow. The main things I've learned are look for droopy leaves when they want water, and make sure to go light on the nutes. They seem happy in the FFOF soil, and can take water that isn't pHed properly just fine. Also, the temps have been in the mid 60's to mid 90's and I haven't noticed any ill effects due to temp. Also, watch for a growth spurt right after transplant.
So, something crappy happened today. The duct tape holding the 8W light above the clones gave out, and the light fell down. Of course, it landed right on top of Scarlet, my favorite. When I found her tonight, the light was still on top of her and she was laying completely on her side in the dirt. I took the light off, and she jumped halfways back up, so hopefully she'll be fine, but only time will tell the effect of the damage.

I also added a computer fan to the room to get some ventilation going. Every time I would lift up the flap, it would smell like stale air in there, and the soil is staying wet too long. Hopefully the fan helps.

I watered the main plants today, and gave them ~1/2 strength nutrients. This is the first time I'm using the flowering nutrient "Tiger Bloom." So they got 1 tsp Tiger Bloom/gal, and 1 tsp of Big Bloom/gal.

The leaves were a bit droopy today, so I should have watered yesterday. It was 6 days between watering. This week I'll make it 5.

not sure if i missed it but have you changed the light to 12/12? I dont remeber you changing the lights, I thought you wanted to fill the screen. I have never given bloom nutes with them under 18 hours of light. If you havent I would be thinking about doing it pretty soon. there going to stretch out a litle when the light switches.

No worries maro. ;)
So, for tonight's update, I did something drastic... possibly quite stupid. I like seeing things for my own eyes, so I made a decision, and I'll live with the results. All fan leaves coming from the main stem of Scarlet were removed tonight. Here are the pictures.

Top of Scarlet after trim. Compare this picture to yesterday and you can see what she's missing.

The good thing about this is that all of the bud sites are now getting more light. The bad part is that I cut off a lot of energy making areas for the plant. Will it pay off? Go ahead and make your predictions now. I really have no idea.

So the Scarlet clone has bounced back (literally), and is only slightly worse for wear. It looks like she'll be fine after the lighting incident.
I'm starting to think that cutting off all those fan leaves was the right decision. On the other plants, the fan leaves are constantly on top of the bud sites, whereas on Scarlet, the bud sites all have plenty of light, and look to be thriving. Time (and yield) will tell. I've also noticed that under a couple leaves that were on top of one another, that there were drops of water. Apparently the leaves were keeping the evaporated water between one another... this is bad as it could cause mold.

Hey guys.
Noticed the bottom two leaves of the Camara clone had discoloration on them. Anyone know what this is? I'm noticing that the pots they're in aren't drying very fast, so I hope it's not mold related. That little room needs more ventilation and more light. I'm trying to decide what the best way to go about it is... maybe just a new set of lights is the best answer, and an S shaped air inlet to keep light from escaping.

I'm trying to think of ways I could have filled the screen better. Maybe allow the plants more stretch early on so the stems arent so thick that they snap? Possibly topping when they were younger so they have multiple tops to fill the screen?
