good stuff rock, thank goodness for friends like ping and pong :D you are gonna be off to the races in no time...
You should plant a seed in prep for your hydro.....not in dirt though....got any other medium?
I'd recommend either a perlite/vermiculite mix, or some kind of root cube or rapid rooter
hmmm, well, i could grab a bag of perlite.
but, wouldnt the water just run right outta that?
i dont think there'd be any retention at all.:wtf:
i guess its off to some store somewhere, does wallyworld or the home cheapo have anything id use?
i always did wonder how u used beans with hydro:wtf:
do you guys think i should take the clone outta that dirty cup and put it in the new bubbler?
In the past (long, long time ago) I used a soilless mix of 2/3 perlite and 1/3 vermiculite. Perlite for drainage, vermiculite for water and nute retention. The exact mix is an 'eyeball' estimate but I ran my first drip system using this simple medium. Now it has gotten all fancy and most call it a Hempy bucket....
hmm, well, i know i can get perlite locally, but havent seen vermec.
might be time for a recon mission.
back later:thumbsup:
hey rock, things sure are lookin' quite interesting around these parts. how'd the job interview go? btw, wherever there is perlite, there is usually vermiculite right beside it. Found both at "wally world" in the gardening section.
You can use both of those (perlite and vermeculite) but I'm not familiar with them so perhaps MVP or someone could help you with the medium part. When I was trying to decide what medium to use my hydro guy (who knows me well) suggested I stick with either hydroton or the higromite rocks. One thing he mentioned about perlite and vermeculite was the mess involved. Anyone who uses it think its messy?
STAY AWAY FROM ROCKWOOL......for my sanity if for no other reason. :D
And Rock....I wouldn't take something out of dirt and put it into your system. There's all sorts of germs, bacteria etc in the soil that will really get out of control in your hydro system with its perfect conditions for things like that.
Plant a new seed for your hydro.
basement, thanks, yup, go the yob:D back to being a fully contributing member of this civilization, yet again, damm lottery ever hits and ill be my own boss dammit
and i did find both together, not at wally's but at the cheapo:thumbsup:
now WH, u say plant a seed, mmmm, okay, but then the fact that i havent made it to the hydro store, so, i did do some shopping and got a lil creative.
trying to figure out which pics and explanation first, and just blazed while i'm experimenting with some things:D
hang in there gang:thumbsup:
