Hey bonzo I just went to the bookstore to buy the high times issue as you suggested but i looked through the entire issue and found no cannabis absorption spectrum. I did see the advertisement for the ufo led light but page 50 nor any other page had the spectrum. Maybe it was last months issue. I must be in the bizaro universe then because i looked through it 3 times and its definitely not in the high times i saw, lol. My guess is that the newsstand issue at barnes & nobles is the april issue since the march issues of magazines usually come out a month earlier then the cover date. 18-6 light schedule
Seeds went into rapid rooter on 1-16-08. transfered to pots early as rooter was over watered and they had to get them out of it.
1-22 15 plants in pots, 1-25 6 more added
1-28 first set of 5leaves showing. moved lights from 20" to 145" to slow perceived stretching.
2-3 noticed whorled phyllotaxy on one of the plants. creates three leaves at each node.
2-9 7th node on 15 plants, 6-7" tall
2-12 "test" plant 9" tall, raised light 6"
2-13 three plants deemed unhealthy were removed...down to 20
2-15 add Co2 boost, in two days we get 2-3" of height and mass side growth, most are now 10" tall or better
2-21 removed some underbrush
2-24 faint preflower signs on 4-5
2-26 light change..... on to FLOWER:thumbsup:
avg height 13" and width of 17"

Hey bud, I just started using LED's and I've been doing a lot of research on them.. I can tell you for sure you need more blue spectrum in the initial life of the plants.. I have been trying to figure out the exact ratio of blue/red for veg and flowering clycles.. I want to know how much red is actually needed for vegging and how much blue is actually needed for flowering.. I know obviously you want a bigger blue spectrum during vegetative growth, and a higher red spectrum when flowering.. so I want to figure out what minimum of each you need for each cycle..
well I think you definitely need more blue for veg, but I havent even read the whole thread yet.. hopefully we can chat..

One of the earlier posters in the thread said something about how you are the first to do an LED grow with "close to half enough lumens" or something like that, in a tongue in cheek sort of way, but I think he was on to something.
There's a lot of stuff out there now being sold as "LED grow lights" that is really just snake oil. Most of the products just don't put out near enough lumens. My rough calculations about the Procyon 100's indicate they should be putting out somewhere between 8,000-15,000 lumens each. Your measurement of light intensity of 4,000-5,000 lumens meshes well that estimate.
At the same time, the results you are getting with a light intensity as low as 5000 lumens is absolutely astonishing. It's comparable to 50,000-100,000+ lumen Metal Halide and Sodium lamps. It's a remarkable vindication of the theory behind LED grow lighting. By which I mean the theory that by using LED's spectral selectivity and using only those frequencies of light beneficial to plant growth, remarkable power and light efficiencies should be possible.
And you've done it. Cannabis is not a low light crop by any means, and your data is incredibly encouraging. Once you reach harvest and have yield numbers that can be compared to HPS and MH lighting, you'll show the nay-sayers about this tech. You are demonstrating that LED's time has come.
SnS will have "done it" when the harvest is weighed, and it comes somewhere close to what HID could do.

SnS, Looking good my light is supposed to be shipped here in the beginning of March. After seeing your growth I'm thinking I lucked out seeing the Procyon and checking into your grow experiment on this site. Thanks for the info as well on what you are using to grow anything learned in here by me will be used to help my own growing.

Opie, Your cautious, skeptical optimism is definitely the right attitude. It's just easy to get caught up in the enthusiasm of how well it seems to be going:D
That's a result of just how much success here would mean for stealth grow ops (And many other things as well, like long distance space travel). For all the reasons (Reduced electricity consumption by an order of magnitude, reduced heat output by the same, and all the benefits leading to size reduction those imply), obvious to people who have researched it.

SnSstealth could I ask for clarification on something you posted a long time ago? You said you were "getting 5000 lumen across the room at the top of the pots" in a post Feb. 2. How did you measure this? Could you tell me what meter you used?
Most meters I've seen measure in Lux or foot-candles. It matters because of calculations I'm making, correcting and revising.

Has grow tests with a number of LED light products.
They've tested with a single Procyon 100, and I've used their numbers to calculate the average intensity of Procyon 100 at 1 meter, and I get 2073 lumens. 1 meter is about 38 inches, of course, if the distance is closer it will be proportionally brighter.

:) it shouldn't be a problem of light... just that males get a faster growth as usual so u see them first.... and also there're sometimes easier to reconize .
A question thought, why would you clone instead when doing such a yield ? It'll look more efficient to me...

as far as pre made LED grow lights go, right now the procyon is the shit...IMHO, and the reason there is no cloning going on, (yet) is because i am making a strain.i have crossed jack herer x bubbleberry, so cloning wont help me get myF3, F4 and so on....cant clone and make a strain;)

update....9 ladies!!!yes, 2 more to show.....so it will be exactly 50% i guess since 3 were pulled being sickly....i got one plant going BANANAS...not sure what to do, i know, i should wait and ask till i get the pics up, ill reiterate later. its got more flowers than any of the others, but its almost 9 in taller than the rest too....very stretchy...F1 vigor?...cant be lighting, its the only one reacting this way....better idea with pics...my bad, i as well am feeling the percocets opie;)

heres a few pics of my WTF plant...remember, i had 3 seeds that were not the cross, old parent seeds, so maybe this is just jack herer, not the cross....any opinions? Its flowering very well, even the lower tops....the last pic is in the room, so you can see its almost double in height...way spaced, i would say stretching, but none of the otheres are doing this, and it has been going for 2 weeks, tried moving light, putting it in the outside part of the light, right under the light...gave just water one feeding...lost on ideas...or maybe its just a tall girl?

edit: just found some picks of my original jack herer crops...i think (and am excited as FUCK!) that this is one of the few parent seeds i had left. keep in mind folks these are REAL jack herer, bought the pack at sensi seeds, in amsterdam, so no questioning athenticity...I am so psyched if this is the case, i will know in about 2 weeks, as i am very familiar with the strain
