wow, a lot of great guitarists have been named.
kudos to the guy who mentioned Les Paul, without him, NONE of the others would have followed.
and i can't believe noone mentiond Jeff Beck, i mean, shit man, he's gotta be on the list!

my personal favs are SRV first, that guy had a gift from God.
Jimi Hendrix comes in at a VERY close second, another man with a true gift.
after that there are several, Frank Zappa, Satriani, Vai, Beck, Santana etc..., etc..., etc...
i also second Stinky's mention of Bonnie Raitt, she also plays a mean piano and writes straight to the heart.
and, while maybe not one of the best ever, Susan Tedeschi aint too shabby either man

Jimi Hendrix
Frank Zappa
Jerry Garcia
Al Di Meola
Duane Allman
Carlos Santana
B.B. King
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Wes Montgomery
These could all be Acceptable Answers imo
Eric Clapton
George Benson
B.B. King
Andres Segovia
Carlos Santana
John Scofield
Stevie Ray Vaughn
Bonnie Raitt
oops- I already did this thread.

jeff beck could very well be better than clapton
robert johnson is not the king of blues, that is bb king. you may not agree with it, i dont agree michael jackson is the king of pop, but thats the way it is. i think most people who slurp robert johnson have never taken the time to listen to him or theyd have been lulled into a boredom induced coma. especially a kid born in 88. good to see you reading the latest rolling stone lists. highly influential, yes. best ever? not even close.Quote:

so uh, if i read your post correctly, you're saying people should go into a boredom induced coma from listening to Robert Johnson? wtf, how is that possible? have you even heard Terraplane blues? or Crossroads blues? i can't stop tapping my foot when i listen to him. Maybe not the best, but way better than bb king imo.Quote:
