Clones seem to be doing fine. No root bumps yet.
Mothers inside cabinet... :( poor things. The picture is from day 121, today would be day 122 for them. I watered them today... poor things :(
Going to see if tomorrow I can get a cheap CO2 tank... maybe from a paintball store? gonna kill the pests... :D

hi turtle, maybe if you have any more troubles with the clones, don't despair m8 :) maybe clip a few more clones, you've still got the mothers rights? to be on the safe side, trim the leaves, cut off about 15-20% off the big fan leaves on your clones, snip at 45% angle with alcohol-rinced scissors or knife (i know you know this :)) and lettem root maybe in some rockwool, it ain't too expensive and i've just raised 15 clones this way.. i'll include a pic
on your thread: nice work man, you've come a log way.

Harvesthetic, What kind of grow bags are those?
turtle, Zandor uses CO2 and does just that raises the co2 level and kills the buggers. What kind of bugs do you have? fungal gnats? spider mites? Well the co2 will get them. Nursery supplers have co2 tanks for sale.
And thanks.

Another weird thing. The white widow were pretty skunky for about 5 days and now they only have a slight odor. I have not done anything different. When they smelled really bad I turned on the $20 Holmes air cleaner from walmart and that worked pretty good. I put my first clones in too much light and they curled. Then I put them in no light and they straightened out. Really interesting stuff.

exactly what i'm experiencing with my white widows :) (both 1st grow & scrog)
it's a normal thing i guess. i've noticed, when the foliage is healthy at the fullest, the stench is amazing in the white widow strain. when you cut the clones, they smell, when you grow them, after a week they turn odourless, and then again they smell  :)
and those aren't grow bags... :p I could only fix 2 square metres of thermal foil.
these are half plastic bottles with aluminium foil wrapped around them hehe.

Very clever havesthetic. I thought they were some new age technology.
Turtle, I took a look at justaseed's photo and I know how you can keep bonzai moms. When I started my hydro plants I used a 30w circular bulb for my lights. The plants grew amazingly slow and low. I couldn't believe the difference. I thougt at first it was because of the hydro, but I now realize it's all about the lights. They were like minature bonzai seedlings and the leaves were tiny. I couldn't believe these were started at the same time as my soil grow. I am astounded. My soil plants were under a 65 w fluoro called fluorex . The soil got twice the amount of light, plus they were going outside every day. The hydro plants were too hard to move and stayed under the 30 w 24/7. To get them to grow, I had to switch to the 65 w lamp to supplement for continuous lights. They went outside too. Now they are growing amazingly well. I thought I had stunted their growth because they still are much shorter than the soil grow. I still vegging them till the soil grow finishes.

Hey Harvestic :)
Yes, I still got the mothers... hopefully, for years to come. :D
As to the 45% angle, yes I knew that... but I didn't know the alcohol-rinsed scissor thing... Every little bit helps! I'm doing that for my next cuttings. Thanks!
Thread: Thanks man. It's all been the boards. People here are great!  to everyone here...

Hey G, ! :)
I don't know the names of the pests, but there are three kinds in there.. you can check the pictures in this thread's last page... or the page before that. I think one of them is Spider Mites. I think. Anyways, I'll enjoy doing the CO2 thing... Ohhh yeah...
And np. ;)

Yeah! I don't know if it's the White Widow strain, or just weed plants in general (I would believe all weed plants), but they act like that. They very, um, "re-active".
And the thing about the skunky smell... I thought I was crazy, but your experiences have confirmed it. Mine have done the same. Sometimes they wake up in the mood, and the smell a little... mmm :) Then, the smell goes away... hmmm... Interesting stuff, definitely!
Clones are looking good... which is to say, they're looking exactly the same way they did yesterday, which is the same way the looked the 1st day I cut them. So, all in all, I guess those are good signs. I've been looking closely at the "roots", and the "root" ball at the end of the stem has already started to form... I guess the tiny root hairs should be coming in no time at all... I hope.
I'm really eager to start the GH vegetative feeding schedule on them... And I'm really eager to smoke my home grown buds... and I'm really eager to get money out of those buds... and really eager to... you get the idea... :)
Thanks guys! Love to all,

Question...
When you say 30W circular bulb... it's the flourescent, that's like a 8", or 10" or 12" diameter bulb? Hmmm... interesting.
My mothers, the cabinet has four 42Watt("200W") CFLs in there... but I've only got turned ON two of them... it was too much light. I believe. They seem to be doing fine.
:)

Hi turtle,
Glad to hear clones are thriving. Yes, you're right the bulb is circular. Here's a photo. I spent $10 for the bulb and fixture. The important fact is not to give them very much light. If you already have fluoros, keep the plants 18-24 inches away from fluoro light source. In the pictures the hydro grow is the same age as soil. Compare the sizes. I was shocked at the time. I was thinking, oh no, I screwed up my hydro.
I am going to make some ww seeds in case of emergencies. Supposedly, male plants can be kept alive by sitting next to a window in weak light far away from females. This same place would not be able to support female mj growth. I will keep a good male in a large storage bin, just till I can get pollen for a female. The storage bin will prevent pollen from escaping. Another tidbit I read, would you want to sleep with your sister? Well, don't inbred your plants either. We have no way of knowing if our seeds are from the same parents.
Be safe. You're doing great!

Nice I need to get on this clone stuff ASAP
uhhh but that means more building(saw, wood, screws) more electricity work more crap but then that means good buds easier faster process..... Man I need to do this:D

Buk, is that a picture of you as a baby? I've been dying to ask.
ok, for the sake of bukdatass' sanity, I will not talk about clones.

LOL! Buk, I'm sorry man... I thought I saw you write that your new avatar was your son... my bad. :) I can't see the smoke in the baby's pic...
In any case, our offer still stands... your kid, has global back-up man :D
I don't know him, but I hope I can give him $100 in the future so he has a nice time with one of his girlfriends... :) I hope I had an uncle like that...
Anyways,
CLONE UPDATE::: Day 7
Clones looking good... as always, no signs of change are being taken as good signs.
Now, there's an actual good sign of change... there was one corner clone that was kind of tilted, I think because of the weight of the leaves... Anyways, it's now standing up... :) All of them are standing up. Good green colors.
ROOTS: You can see the small root-ball at the end of the clone growing... it has these tiny-ass little micro-root-hairs growing... so I guess that's also a good sign.
I need to get these flowering ASAP. I need money... I'm not scrunching money or anything, but... I'd like to buy some toys before summer... and I like to generate that $ from these girls... Arghhhh...
In any event, I'm really happy to have the clones actually growing fine and dandy.
My question::: It's day 7... when should I start the vegetative cycle nutes? They still seem too small for nutrients... they have no roots yet... hmm... plus, I'm wondering when will I turn ON the 400W MH... I guess in about 7 more days... they seem too fragile right now... and they seem quite happy with their low CFL light.
Input welcomed guys (and girls!), thanks! :D

What strain would you pick?
Hello Turtle :) You know I keep looking at this journal and I keep trying to think of something usefull or constructive to say but in all honesty you have gone way over my head with what you are doing :o
Shall I tell you who you are reminding me of ................ Latewood ;)
He's a really nice guy and a great grower but he goes over my head as well, all really technical and likes experimenting and trying different things.
Do you know you guys are making me feel all kinda .......... well a bit thick :o
I'm just waiting to see those buds love ;) :)
love mand xxx:)
-
What strain would you pick?
Turtle, as long as their loving their clf's, let them stay. If they start looking a little pale green, give them some very weak nutes. Are you spraying them? I always mist with weak ferts. Two of the clones I put in the dark for a few days, the centers turned yellow and the outter leaf was still green. I moved this pair next to a window and it greened back up.
If you give them light right now, they will burn up all the sugar stored in the leaves and turn yellow and die. Don't give them bright light until they develop roots. When I start to see roots, I give them a weak nute.
Hang in there Mand. Some of us have more experience than others (we make mistakes too) and some of us just have too much time on our hands. (That would be me.)
-
What strain would you pick?
Hello again Turtle :) Do I remember right and you started flowering ......... how is that going love ?
Hello Gen :) I'm affraid it's not lack of experience in growing that is the problem, it's just a total and utter lack of intrest in anything technical .................. I like to keep it nice and easy ;)
love mand xxx:)

What strain would you pick?
Hey turtle,
Remember the two clones I took off big bertha? Well, I foolishly put them under fluoros (too close) and of all my clones they are doing the worst. They are still curled back (though not as much) and the bottom leaves are starting to turn yellow. See what I mean about too much love?
-
What strain would you pick?
Shit man.. I've forgotten about you!!:(:( :o
Sorry!:p
How you doing?:D

Sup turtle what are the strains on the clones

I'm not turtle, but the plants are white widow.

What strain would you pick?
Hey turtle, don't you even post on your own thread anymore. We want pictures. What's happening? Another reason the hydro plants are so short is because I put them in a bubbler when they had 1 1/2 inch roots. They never stretched like the soil ones. I forgot about that. So if you don't plants to get big ever, then sprout them and then put the seedlings into a bubble cloner. That's how I got such short plants. That and the low light.

Thanks Gen...
I want to give an update, but I want to quote all the above posts and answer/reply/comment with you guys your input... I don't know... I don't like to leave somebody without an answer/opinion.
Anyways, I'll write it up now... I'm smoking the shittiest weed I've ever smoked in my life. Oh, My, God. One full bong bowl later, and no effect whatsoever... this doesn't have THC. I think this is hemp. 100% hemp. I'm going to smoke one of my Marlboros... I'm sure those will get me higher than this crap.
Update in a couple of minutes...

Turtle, nice to hear you are back. Missing you alot. I often find myself wondering, I wonder what happened to turtle. More light to clones in the beginning is bad.
Too much light and your poor little clones will use up all the sugar (food) in the leaves and die a horrible death, before any roots are made. So leave them in weak light. Like the light by a window. NO, direct sun. I put my first clones in fluoros about 3 inches away and yeoow, they started to curl something awful. Stupid me left them that way for three days. Well, they have roots and are still curled. So I don't know if I fried them or not. They are still green, but not growing. Taking cuttings and growing them out is so slow. Seeds are much faster.

I know light for clones is weak... it's just that, well, that guy's "advice" was a little... um, wierd?
