Would there really be a point in having a life cycle where people/animals are born and die, what would be the reason behind it all?
To be honest i just like to force myself to believe there is something else when we die, otherwise pass me a noose, might aswell go now its gonna happen at some point...
I kinda think life just ends....
last year SWIM had some bad hallucinogens and thought he had died, he compared himself to a machine for awhile and felt that he was stuck for eternity only seeing the 2D image of the last thing he saw. That was quite maddening!
wow this thread is bigger than i thought. if this was already said, my bad...
but for the idea that death is the same as dreams, what happens when you start to rot?
I really believe there's another 'dimension' out there. I've been out of my body once (it was kinda scary) and I've had acid trips when I could feel this hidden energy, I could see 'what it's like to be dead'.
I think we all have souls and that we reincarnate, in order to evolve and progress as a species. The important thing about the Bible is that we have Jesus' message (whether he existed or not) and that is to be kind and good to others no matter what. Smoking weed helped me understand that. We humans are too egoistical and self-centered.
Same with Buddha's teachings and other religions throughout the world. The message that 'Jesus' gave us is universal, and I believe were we to follow it the world would become a much more harmonious place.
Also, to zabije cie: I believe that 'evil' ghosts are simply souls that are still attached to their vices on earth - revenge, drugs, etc... and refuse to face the reality that they must evolve. They are in fact in a great deal of suffering, but instead of learning they keep making the same mistakes over and over again, becoming disillusioned with God and getting their kicks out of doing evil stuff just to piss people off.
Just my opinion.
Heres my theory:
When you die, your brain sends out its last synapses to the thought and dreaming section of your brain, triggering what essentially is a dream. The contents of this dream depend entirely on what you personally believe happens when you die. If you believe in heaven, you go to heaven. If you believe in hell, you go to hell.... but only in this dream.
Now several studies have shown that time is represented much faster in regular dreams (in other words, you're only dream for 30 second intervals, but it feels like hours in the dream). Therefore it's reasonable to assume that this last dream could feel like it lasts forever, even if it only actually lasts the time it takes for your brain to stop sending signals.
Just a theory of course haha. I'm Jewish, so I believe in Heaven, but no hell. Guess it should be a pretty fun dream, tho i wouldn't mind postponing it a bit haha
I can't think of any more comforting thought as reincarnating as an animal.
I would like to recommend a good movie related to this: The I Inside
It's amazing that no one has mentioned any biblical references. Is the world just full of athiests these days? The bible says we will be judged for everything we have done and that very few will get to see heaven.
