B - Q 6!
Thanks for the breathing room.
That Bishop has been ever so vexing.

Wasn't your bishop onna black squares?
Sure was, and still is.
Q6 is a black square.:)
Allow me to illustrate;
[attachment=o234775]
Stop whatever you are doing and pass me dat bowl, brah.
Aloha
W.
P. S.
You'll note that I did not say "Don't Bogart that bowl"
That would be incorrect usage.
Only works with a joint.
Most folks think it means don't hog it.
The actual derivation is a Humphrey Bogart habit.
He would smoke a cigarette down to the but, then "flick it away" with his thumb and middle finger.
So, the expression means, don't flick it, pass it.
You prolly know that.
I post it for the "kids", (under 50), that might have wondered.
I would call that square Q5 (for you).
Or Q4, for me.
It is relative to who's calling the move, isn't it?
But that bishop's on a rank that isn't '#6' for either one of us...
I remember the song. Dan Hicks / Commander Cody...somebody like that.Quote:

I always took it to mean 'hit it, then pass it.' (Equivalent to "Don't 'Lloyd' the 'tank.'") :D
Flicking roaches away wasn't even a consideration, it'd getcha slapped by the cheap hoodlums I usta run with. We'd save them (roaches, not hoodlums) and categorize them according to how many times they'd been recycled and re-rolled. "Easy, man! That's fourth generation roach pot!"
True, it was nasty, tarry, stinky stuff that would give ya a headache preceded by a slight O2 deprivation 'high.' But to just throw away a roach? Not us po' kids... Ah, the good old days...
"Fraternity of Man?" Talk about a one-hit wonder....

Don't Bogart That Joint
Lyrics: Lawrence Wagner
Music: Elliot Ingber
Played by Little Feat's Paul Barrere and Bill Payne with Phil & Friends. The original verson (on the soundtrack of "Easy Rider") was by Fraternity Of Man. It was subsequently covered by Little Feat.
Chorus
Don't bogart that joint my friend
Pass it over to me
Don't bogart that joint my friend
Pass it over to me
Roll another one
Just like the other one
You've been holding on to it
And I sure will like a hit
[chorus]
Roll another one
Just like the other one
That one's burned to the end
Come on and be a real friend
[chorus]

Goddess confirms the East coast norm was torching a roach between two matches and snorting the smoke. (ouch!)
Then there was the "heated knives on a stove burner" trick. Pliers and a propane torch was for da pro's....
Yer only right!Quote:

I blame da "partly coudy", early picked, tanglebrain jar I just opened.
It started as superbuzz, but confusing.
Kinda expect dat when first dryed.
But, after 30 day in da hole, it became a serious agent of Chaos.
One hit, and I got 12 thumbs and a cataract.
Bounced 2 checks. (That's an expensive first),Argh!
I no smoke no mo' dat!
Sorry:o
Weeze
Don't feel too bad, I thought I had my bishop covering the diagonal path your bishop's on....that woulda protected my rook from your knight.
