Just a quick Flower Day 70 update...
Sticky, resin coated, and as stinky as can be. Two weeks since ending nutes, they are drinking about 1qt every other day. Trichs are SLOWLY all going cloudy. The girls are UGLY as can be, with knoby new growth poking out of the kolas.
I usually grab a pic right after lights out, but this is with lights still on. 400w HPS, 250w MH, and five CFL's.
I keep reminding myself that when you think they're done, wait a week...
After 46 days of veg and 75 days of flower, the lights went out for the final time...121 days. Trichs went 100% cloudy. I'll post a pic after my four remaining girls are killed tomorrow night. They get 24 hrs of darkness before I end their lives.
I'm pretty sure they know something's up. I wonder what they are thinking?
Did they get much chunkier than that last pic you posted? Nice work man.
Thanks....they got heavy. Two main kolas are at least 10oz wet. I wish I could grow 10oz dry kolas...the world's problems would be solved.
Well, mine would be...

One quick question 9... YOu said the closet is 5x5 right... How many square feet would you say each plant takes up... including the distance that is between each plant?
Thanks

Hey, Zion! Thanks, that's very cool of you to say.Quote:

Bending and tying allows you to train a plant to fit your space, aside from the benefits of more light on the secondaries.
My sativas all turned out male or hermie and were killed. It seems to me that mostly-sativa plants really spread out and use much more room than indicas, especially if you tie.
Hey, Clever: well, they are sticky and stinky...and I'll do a better job next time
:)
I'm hanging them intact with just a slight trimming. The weirdly bushy plant on the far right is my test dummy plant that got over-nutes and over everything. The buds are feather light and very hollow. I tried a small bud and it tasted like spoiled fish dipped in vinegar.
I'll trim more tomorrow, then let them hang in the dark for a couple of weeks. At some point, I'll cut and separate them a little more. I have a fan blowing on them to avoid mold.
After the are dry and snap when bent, I'll begin the curing.
I bet you are just going bonkers with anticipationâ?¦.I would be.
excellent
I killed the one girl weeks ago, so she's been getting heavily sampled 8*)
Ski... Is there any particular reason(s) why you didn't go with an HPS for Veg ?
Well, a lot of people use CFL's for veg. The spectrum is good and they are cool, so you can surround the young plants. I try and keep them about an inch away from the tops. Mostly, though, it was on HD's recommendation.
Harddon was a newbie when he came here not long ago, but immersed himself in learning so much so that his wife nearly kicked him out of the house. Of course this place is filled with more knowledgeable/experienced/talented growers, but I never saw an HD post that wasn't funny and mostly dead-on right.
Growing is a never ending learning process. I'm sure Zandor could tell you something new he's just learned and that guy knows just about everything. Any grower needs guidance when starting out. From that, you repeat what you know to work for you. Like the magic of bat guano, for example.
I found a method of growing that suits me. I respect and marvel at what hydro people can do, but I'm not into it. I even have all the gear for cloning, but I'm not sure I'll bother with my next grow.
I moved to a spot that's literally deep in the woods and gave up a sunny garden at my previous house. I really enjoy the process of gardening. I used to come home and dead-head flowers to relieve stress; now I tuck, tie, and tend to MJ plants. It's been a cool journey.
I imagine Mand could relate to that.
Sorry to get OT from your question...I suddenly have a three week period of nothing garden-related to do and I'm rambling on...
Good CFL's have given me nice, bushy plants during veg, so they are my choice of light. 8*)
What's a girl got to do around here for an update.....don't answer that. :D
Yo ski....Ive read up your log.....you know, it is like a book!! Are you starting a new grow soon?
Clever, babygirl, I like the new avatar(been away for a bit, so it might not be new) but I like it anyways!!
Thanks EmT actualy this avitar is starting to make its way out ....just looking for a suitable replacement... :smokin:
hey lmc. been awhile...catch up with you one of these days...lw
Thankyou 9ski9 and harddon for this amazing thread.. it's really inspired me..
I was just wondering if either of you could give me some guidance as to starting to grow for the very first time and any advice on choice of seeds etc.
I would be greatful for advice from anyone for that matter!

Ha, resurrected from the dead...
I don't use seed banks, so one of the many genius growers around here can help you with that. I save seeds from different pot I really like...just good old bag seed.
As far as doing a basic soil grow, I took everything I learned from HD and began a grow in March, without all the mistakes. And once you've bought all the gear, the second grow costs next to nothing.
The only changes in my current grow are the nute/THC booster mixture, the veg time was shorter (because they grew faster this time), and the use of fish emulsion during flowering.
Take a look at my current grow log. It's a really basic setup...nothing fancy. But it's capable of producing a pound of weed that, when properly cured, absolutely knocks your dick in the dirt.
