Recently visited Delta 9 and CCF. Both had a good selection and Delta 9 had great prices(for first time visitors and members.) Got around 7 different strains at each. Top three:
1. Skunk #1 CCF
2. Diesel #3 CCF :stoned:
3. Poison Kush D9
Also stopped by Cargivers for Life on St.Paul a few decent strains but prices were a little high($19.00 a gram.) Bubble Jack and Blue Moon Shine were the best from Caregivers.
Both had friendly and knowledgeable staff while Caregivers had a limited but friendly staff.
Heading to Ned soon for Grateful Meds:rastasmoke: and One Brown Mouse

I had the pleasure to visit Herbal Connections located right on the corner of Leetsdale and Alameda in Glendale. I decided to give this place a go since Channing from The Denver Chronicle started working there. I have been following Channing on the Denverchronicle blog as well as forums. I got a sense that this person would not work in an establishment that was not above board and treated their patients fairly. I am so happy that I was correct.
I can not say anything about the Highlands location but the one on Alameda was a wonderful experience.
There was the usual amount of paperwork, nothing new or exciting
The two individual there Michael and Leif were very pleasant and seemed knowledgable. Michael obviously was not use to budtending but his strain knowledge was apparent.
The ambiance was very nice. Large open and very clean. The actually dispensary seems to be located on a stage and you have to take a step up or two to get there.
Variety was nice for actual buds as well as ediables, tictures and lotions. They had about a dozen strains and B+ - A+ and the ticture I purchased was the best I have experienced so far.
I picked up some Grape Krush(DJ short) and Golden Goat. I am very happy with both of these purchases.
The Goat was some of the better I have seen and has that distictive Island Sweet skunk smell. It was a mellow high that allowed me to focus. I found it perfect daytime medication.
The Grape Krush is a very nice. Wonderful fruity smell and a very grape taste to it. It has a great euphoric type head high without anxiety and also gives a mild body high. I enjoy all aspects of what I smoke, taste, smell, flavor and effect. This strain has it all.
They had some excellent looking clones and a very nice variety. It would be great to try a strain and then purchase a clone of it. They offer this for several of their varieties.
Their prices are excellent 17/50/90/160/320 or less tax is NOT included.
My overall experiencer was great and best of all it is the closest dispensary to my home.

Yeah, I'm liking D9's Poison Kush quite a bit... nice mix of that Dubran high and the Indica from the OG Kush. Super tasty/smelly too, which I always love. Review for that one coming pretty soon, I've already done its photoshoot but haven't uplodaed everything yet... I'll let you guys know when it's up.
Has anyone found a killer UK Cheese around town? I have 2 of them sitting here (one from D9 and one from Chronic Wellness) and want a nice 3rd so I can have a proper Cheese-Off. I want a Cheese proper and not Blue Cheese...

I also made a quick stop by Rocky Mountain Wellness Center near Colfax/Wadsworth. Um, not impressed at all... they had everything grown in-house, which is a plus, but the budtender was one of the most unfriendly and quiet dispensary employees I've ever met. Trying to get info from him was like pulling teeth -- I asked for some general recommendations and he finally produced more than a single word response, but otherwise it was silence and him saying "yes" or "hydro" (booo). I ended up leaving with a half-8th of DJ Short's Blueberry (which is decent so far, haven't smoked much) for a whopping $30.
Everything was priced at $20g/$30 for half an 8th/$60 8th regardless of quantity. The Maui (Indica) looked pretty solid but he wouldn't let me split half an 8th, so I just went with the Blueberry. When I asked to look at the OG Kush, he just said, "It's really not that good man" and proceeded to show me 2 other "not good" (at least by my standards) Kush strains, the Hindu and the Venus... I wanted to just leave, but in the interest of the website and my own curiosity, I walked out with that Blueberry and a bad taste in my mouth from the "service". Is a smile too much to ask for? Dude's festive pot leaf shorts (really?) belied his mood, apparently.
I'd say "stay away" in general... The only dispensary that I've been to that was lower quality overall was Alternative Medicine on the Mall, which was obscenely overpriced and horrible quality across the board. This one had a few strains that looked solid (Blueberry, Maui, Durban), but they were overall underwhelming and the attitude from the budtender combined with the prices knocked it off my repeat visit list for sure.

Herbal Connections in Highlands had some Big Buddha Cheese the other day...not sure if that's what you're looking for.

Yeah that's the same one -- UK Cheese aka Big Buddha Cheese (that's the seed company). Maybe I'll stop up there and grab a gram today... thanks for the tip!

From my understanding UK Cheese was a clone-only strain originating in England. Big Buddha Cheese I think has a UK Cheese parent, but it was crossed with something else to yield seeds. So, no I don't think they would be the same. I could be wrong.
I've seen the "real" UK Cheese at CCF, but they've been out for awhile. Not sure when/if they may re-up.
-
Colorado Dispensary Reviews
Yeah, I don't think most places have the trans-Atlantic clone variety, which is just a Skunk #1 phenotype. Big Buddha crossed the original Cheese with an Afghan and then back-crossed several times to isolate the Cheese traits from the original. So yeah, not the same but close enough and BBC's version is what most people know as "Cheese" since it was the first Cheese seed variety.
Thanks for the clarification though -- there's so many strains like that (Trainwreck being the other common one) that are really an elite clone but some seed company puts out a seed approximation and that becomes the most prevalent. I don't know whether I've ever tried the original clone strain, if CCF has that, I'll definitely keep an eye out for it.
-
Colorado Dispensary Reviews
Yeah, keep an eye out at CCF. They don't fuck around with strain names like that. So I'm guessing what they had was the UK. They had the Arcata Trainwreck not that long ago either.

A new dispensary opened up here in Durango, called appropriately-enough, Durango Wellness. All local, all organic, all priced the same at $16/$55, tax already included. The medicine looks good, although one strain I noticed had a somewhat impressionistic trim. The customer service was unexceptionable - no waiting, no paperwork, no mention of caregiver status.
I'm pleased with the Black Domina I picked up. The cosmetics are good - nice trim, pleasant smell, good trichrome density. The smoke is mild and aromatic. In my judgement, the potency is above average.

We just sold out of the BBC we had. We do have some cheese caviar (cheese in cheese wax), but that wouldn't be fair in a true cheese off.

Jack is still a week out, not including curing. It's a great looking crop. Our Grapefruit, same grower, just came back from Full Spectrum with CBD's over 8%... phenomenal. I'd recommend trying it.
Sorry about the prices, we're reviewing them constantly and trying to figure out a way to lower them. We might cut our ad in Westword to reduce our costs and drop eighths to $55 before tax. I have a feeling that may be too high still. I still think our concentrates are very competitively priced. What do you think a fair price is for high grade eighths?

an 1/8 should be 45 out the door just like 1/4 should be 90 out the door...it sure would keep your customer's comming back instead of shopping prices.
this is what dispensary's should be doing to help keep costs under control....just my personal thoughts ...

if a place like CAM, CCF, Pure, Delta 9 etc. went to $45 out the door, they'd be out of medicine. Worse than they are now.
It makes sense to sell it for what you can get for it.
But as a patient, I would give all my business to the shop that can bring the quality meds with no questions asked, at a great price.
Actually, Dragonfly on Fed. has a $48 cap I believe. Great meds imo.
Right now, Pure on Bannock seems to have the best quality control that I've seen. Plus, there is a $50 cap. There's seems to be no need to worry about purchasing less than par meds. Go to Pure if you haven't been yet. Bannock and 11th.
I get the vet discount at CCF so I think that caps everything at 50 for me. Very good.
IMO, a $50 cap with tax included is a must.
I'm waiting for a quality shop to do the $45 if they can.
The state has really got them over the barrel on fees. $5000/yr. OUCH!
But, has anyone noticed that black market is down?

Eh... Pure's OK. Didn't really change up my top-5 by stopping in there. I wasn't really impressed with the bud quality (in-house). It's cool that they test their nugs for potency, but the NYCD I got was kinda odd. It crumbled to dust yet it wasn't that dry. It almost seemed like mold, but it smelled OK so I don't think it was. Nonetheless, it seemed strange consistency.
But the dude there seems like a good guy and they seem to have good intentions. I like how they test their buds. They are just starting out so maybe I'll stop in again in a few months.
Hey does anyone know if the labs test for contaminants in addition to potency? With all these amateur joe-schmoe growers selling buds to dispensaries... maybe even on their first grow... who knows what shit might be in the buds?! Mold, pesticides, etc?!?! I've seen posts on forums where people are using nasty chemicals even while drying to control pests!! It'd be nice to know that your buds are free from this shit too! There's just no quality control right now... and it seems some idiot who doesn't know what he's doing... bombing his plants with chemicals... can sell to dispensaries and then the unsuspecting consumer can ingest this shit unknowingly... I just don't like it.
Shit I'm ranting... damn time of year got me making car bombs at home (the drink)....

Well I think the other guys already said it best. There's several places to get really good quality for $50 caps (tax included). The most I'll pay anymore is $55/eighth (tax included) at CCF... but they have some nice genetics that can't really be found many other places and they do a lot of stuff in-house. I guess I'll come by for some Jack because I'm already a fan. Sorry to call you guys out like that... I really like your store. It just doesn't make sense for me to shop there when I can get the same/better for $10-15 cheaper (an eighth!).
It'd be nice to see you guys come down to the $50/eighth cap. Or even a few at $55-60 for really nice stuff. It'd be nice to see tax included too. It always sucks to have to pay another $5 on top of the bag. What's the deal on taxes and why do some include and others not? Are the other dispensaries just paying sales tax out of their revenue (or not at all)?

I've opened jars in some highly-regarded shops (not to named) and I've smelled mold!! In that particular shop the in-house stuff is always spectacular. Vendor is definitely hit or miss....

The vender thing is risky; we turn down several vendors a day that come in with less then adequate smoke. The problem is people want choices and, well you can only grow so much yourself unless you go with really big warehouse grows, and then in my opinion your bud starts becoming more commercial. We have started turning away most vendors and have set up even more locals with the equipment, genetics and nutrient recipe to help us keep the number of strains we have on the shelf, they call us if they have problems with pests etc. This way we seem to be having more quality control of the meds we get. And it stimulates our local economy by spreading the wealth locally.
That is just one of many reasons I oppose HB-1284, just like you can't mass produce great wine the same is true with medical cannabis in my opinion, and HB-1284 sells out the small growers, and that slack will be taken up by the big money chain dispensaries and possibly give big tobacco the room they need to move in.
:(

Wow, if only the people knew what they really intend on doing with HB-1284. I wonder who had more of an influence on the bill, the big money dispensaries or the tobacco companies. Either way, if this passes, I hope both of them are boycotted until they close down.

Agreed on the price thing.. it really pains me to pay $60 an 8th. $55 with tax has to be absolute fire for me to feel okay about it. I still do it (mostly for the website), but normally I end up buying it at that price because I'm just getting a gram to sample. That's fine, but a $50 inc. tax cap would do a lot for business at many places.
Native's Choice on Larimer/Broadway has really impressed me with their quality. 15 in-house strains and every one I've seen has been very nice. I went on a Sativa spree and am really happy with them, especially for $48 out the door. Same with the Grasshopper on Federal -- $48 with tax for stuff that competes with the top level dispensary wares pretty much anywhere.
I don't mind price tiers (I'd personally like really high-quality seeded "mids", both to get seeds and for the price), but I do appreciate places that give good deals on normally top shelf product rather than just passing off their crappiest vendor meds as a special. Daily specials and whatnot are great, especially for cost-conscious patients who can't really afford even $40/8th on a regular basis, much less gathering up enough to get quantity discounts which normally kick in around $175 (half oz). Chronic Wellness does a good job with this, their $30 rotating specials are normally still very good meds... I've only been disappointed once and have gotten their top shelf meds at that price plenty of times (they reward people who sign up for their newsletter also). Botanico's the same way -- buy one get one (or half off) and stuff like that is great to get traffic in the door as well as helping people out with a good deal. It builds relationships and community -- I know I seek out places that seem like they're not in it to wring out as many dollars as possible, and many others are the same way. Not simply for the savings, but for a general belief that they have your well-being in mind, y'know?
Speaking of rambling.. gat damn! It's 1:30 and this Apollo 11 from Native's Choice was probably not the best idea, because I'm all Sativa'd up and hyper.
EDIT: Yeah, that's an awesome idea GratefulMeds -- empower the community to grow their own top-quality smoke and keep yourself stocked. Synergy, right? Love those hokey business words haha..

Picked up some blue dream from CPC today at 94th & Federal.
Nice taste and very long lasting. Good pain relief for me. After standing on my feet all day on a concrete floor - my back was hurtin' pretty bad. I took 2 puffs from my pipe when I got home at 6:30pm. Great pain relief in less than 15 minutes.
Also picked up a couple muffins for $5 apiece. I just finished eating a blueberry muffin as I type this post at 10:15 Friday night. Haven't smoked anything since 6:30 so I'm pretty much straight and sober right now. We'll see what one muffin does. I'm bettin' that I'll be feelin' no pain in about an hour or maybe 90 minutes.

Well, I was baked until about 2:30am. Ate the muffin at 10:15pm. Was started to feel it around 11:15 - 11:30pm. I was completely baked off my ASS from midnight until about 2am. Started coming down after 2am and went to bed at 2:30am with no back pain. Not bad for $5

would love to come and visit you but your prices which do not include tax make me stay away...most dispensary's seem to be dropping thier prices and including tax so this is why myself personaly I would go somewhere else..
if you do change your pricing then let the forum know so You can increase your business..and I would gladly swing by but being on social security and a fixed income I have to pinch pennies like so many of us do....
and I say this with much respect for dispensary's.

Ick, just found my first sample with mold. I didn't see it at the shop because they didn't have any kind of magnification tool (I might've missed it anyway), and now that I'm looking at it on the scope, it's lousy with the stuff, mostly on leaves and stems. It's hard to see with the naked eye, but I noticed some white spots on a leaf. The most shameful shit is that it was the most expensive sample I've had to buy for a while at $30 for half an 8th.
Rocky Mountain Wellness on Colfax... like I said, stay away. This one was the DJ Short Blueberry, which otherwise looked nice under magnification (decent amount of ambers, frosty overall). I'm just sad that I smoked some of it and didn't scope it first... hope I don't get sick or something. I'm reviewing the strain still, but the rest of it is going into the compost bin, and I hope they'll refund me... "wellness" eh?

Wow thats some nasty stuff. That goes to show everyone how careful you have to be with outside vendors. I'm sure that dispensary didn't know about it otherwise their setting themselves up for extreme failure. I'd bring the mold back and see what they'll do for ya, if it were me I'd ask for a refund lol. I bet they'll never buy meds off that vendor again.
The sentinel controller I have controls my dehumidifiers 24/7 ensuring that the humidity never gets high enough to give mold even the slightest chance to touch my meds. Good air circulation 24/7 is also essential. It's a shame there are growers out there who half ass it, and do not even care about the health of the patients using their meds. It could have molded at the dispensary if it was sold wet and they didn't keep an eye on the RH. Thats my guess on what happened.
