Hey I was wondering if you could send me a list of materials used to make that bad ass system!!!... The thing is it looks like it is sensitive to space and that my friend is what I am all about! and if you are feeling real generous you could attach a "how to" manual for dummies!
Hey Harrison how are your plants doing? Better? Worse? Same?
We don't have anything exciting happening in the bloom room right now but it's been awhile so I thought I'd toss in some pics just to update everyone.
Our bloom room is fairly crowded these days but nothing more than 4 weeks into flowering so no cool bud shots. These pics are of my power plant clones in soil......one pretty happy one and one funky-backwards-growing-shrimpy-bonsai-sized-weird one. We have another PP plant that we just took some more clones off of (she's doing GREAT!) and each plant tends to look a bit better, bigger and happier than the last one so I think we are learning something anyway (so far......) Perhaps someday we'll have a NORMAL power plant or two......:wtf:
Master Kush on the left.....the Brainstorm is on the right and also in the second photo.
We've REALLY been pushing the nutes on both these two plants......right now they are at 1300 ppm and no sign of nuteburn so far. We've NEVER been able to take nutes this high this early with our plants before so the difference MUST be the net pots and lack of fert build up.
We're holding off saying either one of these will be a top yielder......but we'll ask ourselves that question again in about two weeks. ;)
They Look Great, I've Been Reading, About Some Of You Going Real Aggressive PPm, Just Watch It Closely, I Have Burnt Up My Share Of Nice Plant, Being To Aggessive!!!, Just My 2cent's, But You've Got Them Rocking Right Now, I can See The Glow From Here!!!!HEHE.........Later:D:rastasmoke:
MUCH THANKS to the stork who brought us this plant. This is just a nice, pretty, happy plant to grow. We haven't even had one finish yet and we've decided we just plain like this strain.
The hydro plant was turned a week earlier than the soil one but they both seem quite happy. The soil plant WAS our mother but she just got too durn big too durn fast so we moved her in here.
The hydro girl is at Day 22 flowering; the soil is at day 15.
Hatch, thanks for the good review and you could not be more right!! One minute the plants are marching along happily and then BAM they are fried. We are checking and double checking things twice a day and so far the ph has stayed stable (it's often your very first clue in nuteburn) and the ppm numbers have been going DOWN daily which means the plants are SCARFING the nutes down up till now! But yes.....we are watching very carefully! ::thumbsup:Quote:

And Stork......this is a LOOOOONNNNNGGGGG flowering plant so I admire your patience with the thai. ;)
This is going to be PRIVATE RESERVE :D:D so we're going for quality as this plant is not known to be a huge yielder. Also a VERY light feeder.....topped out at 800ppm and cries like a baby if you go over it. :wtf:
This is one of the plants that we did not raise numbers as fast on as the plants we turned recently. As a result she's another example of a happy and healthy plant.....but NOT kicking out buds like I've seen this strain do before so we'll start raising the number NOW and see what...if anything....it does.
She's up to 1300ppm and we just now moved her up to 1400.....we'll see if she takes a jump, stays the same, or even burns up. :wtf:
Hmm...gonna be a happy autumn....so many great strains, must be a lot work to feed all those diff. plants....they look really nice Wh...the PPs and the ASH already looks tasty...
Any report on the WW?? Big difference between the soil and the hydro one?? And Fang, how is it?? Fruity??
I'm always just stunned when I take a look at your thread, WH. I really don't know what to say, and I never have anything to add, as I don't know a darn thing about hydro - and, I know only slighty more about soil - which leads me to my question.
Are you looking to adopt a guy in his 30's. I can move in at your convenience. I won't even take up much space in your house - just a cushion on a couch during the day, and I can sleep on it at night. I bark when strangers come around, as I am a bit anti-social.
Just thought I'd ask - it supposedly doesn't hurt. Take good care out there, WH!
lookin GREAT WH!!! cant wait till harvest huh....ASH is lookin gorgeous, as well as the MK...mmmmm,...I love kush!!!
anyway...as usual, nice job!! :greenthumb:

Hey Hound(s), nice plants. If your Strawberry is anything like the Strawberry Cough, it is DEFINITELY a keeper...
MVP
I was talking to X-Crispi the other day and we stumbled upon a question to ask a knowledgable soil person.
Is it better to do lower amounts of nutes (say 700ppms) and water with nutes more often (say every other watering) or go with higher amounts (1300ppm) every third or so watering?
What IS an ideal soil nute schedule for blooming in soil?
thanks to anyone/everyone who can offer suggestions....Mr Hound and I are so new to this soil stuff.......
Hi Everyone,
Been having some family visiting so been busy......time to see whats been going on and update everyone.
MVP....what about the Strawberry Cough did you find to be a keeper? What's the background on that.....somebody else really liked that too. Whats the secret?
Jake....what a wonderfully nice thing to say!! I'll take some new pics soon....blooming has really started in there and things are looking pretty good
Zeb....I can't WAIT to try the PP....heard so much raving about it that I hope it lives up to its name. The ASH is starting to put on a bit of bulk so she's shaping up better than I thought and she's looking good too.
We've been continuing to push the nutes and are definitely seeing a difference so far. The cotton candy will go up to 1600 today and already has some good "bones" on her that have developed since we started accelerating the numbers. Both the Master Kush and Brainstorm are up to 1500....at day 11 in bloom and still taking the numbers down (more slowly though.....) Ak 47 is just starting to bud but is up to 1450 and we will raise that again today as well.
So all in all Fang weighed out at 192 finished grams.......not bad but not the "elbow" I had visions of.
Still has that very unique "overly sweet" citrusy smell to her (almost say "reek") and a very good bang! All the good elements....visual, cerebral and fairly heavy hitting without the slack-jawed couchlock that puts me down for the count (but works GREAT for Mr Hound!)
And Stealth and Zeb.....I have to say that we made some cold water hash with some of the WW so I did try it but couldn't tell you anything about the differences between the hydro and soil versions.....my lungs are just too trashed to do much smoking so I pretty much stick to small hits of hash here and there. Everything else is capsules or edibles......;) (It WAS (and is) REAL good hash.....!!!)
Funny you should ask this, I just picked up a big bog 'o FF dirt yesterday and need the same advice... :DQuote:

A fair question, and one that in recent weeks has been much on my mind. I've done both. I'm trying my first real indoor soil grow, basically because I'm either too depressed or too lazy to hook up all my hydro stuff. Previously I have fed my soil plants about every other watering. Now I am trying it with every watering, with a little less nutrients per watering of course. I have not noticed a difference, but I am very pleased with the buds I'm getting on my BBxNL. I can't say for sure, but it looks like they are loving it. On the other hand, my AK-47 in the same conditions seems to be yellowing more than usual. They both have just under 2 weeks to go. I see your AKs, and there is practically no yellowing (congrats). I've always had a problem with yellowing on the AKs, so I chalked it up to the variety, but then I see yours and am puzzled.Quote:

How about some pics opie? And can you give us an idea of the ppms of the nutes you are using....say the ones you did every other watering vs the number you are using for every watering.
"This parrot is dead. This is a dead parrot."
"No its not.....it's sleeping."
So we put both these plants on 1500ppm yesterday......today the number is down to 1470......in less than 24 hours. :wtf:
We'll raise the number again tomorrow as well.
As you can see they pretty much went nuts between the last photos and this one. The only difference these days is more nutes so ...................feel free to extrapolate () from there. :wtf:
The first photo is the Master Kush.....we've switched the buckets because the Brainstorm seemed to be growing much bigger than the MK.......which isn't too shabby either for 15 days!
Second photo is the Brainstorm....third is both. T
Looking lovely as usual WH;). Love me some kush...mmm. Opie, I may know of a welcome sanctuary for coconut clacking, wandering AKs.
And I have had the pleasure of smoking a buddies Strawberry Cough, (wouldn't even SELL me a few beans...grrr) and it was great. Pain relief, great taste, but like the name sake, very lung expanding. For my battered lungs, it was a lil much, rest went to edibles.
Ramble over I guess....ev-ry bo-dy must...get....stoned

Hmmm, haven't checked my email lately. I'll try to do it tomorrow.Quote:

For the AKs this was maybe 1400 in veg and 1650 in the latter part of flowering. Iā??ve been using Supernatural food and perhaps some Liquid Karma, but in bloom their budding food is mixed about half with Open Sesame, Beastie Bloomz and Cha Ching, depending on how far along they are. For Supernatural, 1.5 teaspoons per 4 liters will make about 1000 PPM. To make it worse, I donā??t think that was quite enough, since Iā??ve been more than halving the amount for twice as many feedings as would seem logical.
I havenā??t noticed a difference really, now that Iā??m feeding with each watering. This is the first soil grow where Iā??ve flowered either variety in my real flowering section, under good light. The experiment has mostly been in my mother/youngster area, which of course has always been in the veg stage. The only thing I have to compare to for flowering is hydro plants, which has been very similar, except for the additional yellowing on the AK, which could be for any number of other reasons. For example, I havenā??t foliar fed once this grow. So basically what Iā??m saying is all this info Iā??ve provided is just a waste of time, and Iā??m sorry. Or not, maybe somebody can get something out of it.

Experiment:
30 identical dirt plants in identical conditions. 10 fed each watering, 10 fed every other watering, 10 fed every 3rd watering.
Questions:
- Which set does better with overall identical amounts of food?
- Can any set handle more food than the others, and if so does it increase growth or yield?
I need a grant please, for this and many more experiments.
Oh my! :o
and 10 in Miracle Grow prefertilized soil, and 10 in soil and Osmacote.Quote:

All of these experiments have been done by the floriculture industry.
Have a look @ the Umich Ag extension archives- Also Umass, Texas A&M, U Georgia, U Florida.
Putting flower weight on an annual is pretty much putting flower weight on an annual, whatever it may be. Pref nute ratios will vary a little bit ( think commercial floriculture, because fruit formation is a whole differant story), but moisture/media/air ratios over EC are pretty basic. Ain't that differant from the cut flower trade at all.
That being said, it's about all done drip to waste at an EC varied to normalize h20/ion uptake ratios- many small feedings at highest strength possible to maintain proper EC on the waste side of the media, with at least 10% overwatering. Feed nute EC is adjusted ( often realtime) to provide consistant nute uptake regardless of plant transpiration volume, at a rate determined by available light.
In other words, nutrient ion total weight being sucked up the stalk is the same weight for every photon ( in the appropriate spectra) utilized, regardless of the total amount of water transpired.
Lots of small volume applications, EC variable.
Wow- sorry about the tangent- Space Queen makes me, well, spacy...
Oh, and you could probabley get the grant to do the work in a differant annual- Big market for polyhouse shiso in some regions, but it's feed twitchy.
OK.
I'll read that again when I'm sober. I think I need some Space Queen.
