"I think he will be able to get popular support behind any agenda he wants to push, and I also expect he will call people to serve outside of that kind of role as well."
- that's a good definition of leadership, and something that has been sorely lacking in the current administration...obama is smart, so smart people will be attracted to him, and he will choose smart advisors...obama is articulate, so he will be able to explain his policies and plans to americans and the rest of the world...obama is inspiring, so people will be inspired to put their effort behind his policies...this is especially important now because americans are facing some difficult choices, and effective leadership will help them make the right choices, even if it means making sacrifices...bush's leadership was more like "it's my way or the highway, and if that bothers you, here are some tax cuts and stimulus checks to take your mind off things"...now the money is all gone, and americans must be asking themselves how they let things go so wrong
i remember how america was so excited about change when bill clinton took office...it didn't go as well as hoped, but clinton didn't have the same *immediate* easy choices or the same majorities in both houses that obama will have in his first 100 days...it should be one of the most momentous 100 days of any new presidency in history...after that, i don't know how well he will do...the challenges america faces are daunting
god bless america!!
