TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
for the kind words about Fang. You know if I hadnt had a bunch of expectations in the first place I probably would appreciate her more. :wtf:
For the next act:
Cotton Candy in large tub....she's growing fast but both times we've grown this plant in the past she's done at least five ounces for us before......she always looks huge then weighs out "fluffy" at the end.....I'll see if I can find an old pic of one of our previous girls.
Also have a very nice Arjans Strawberry Haze blooming (I think these are something like 10-12 weeks blooming time so nobody hold their breath for the finish) but she's got her own thing going.....she's strictly going to be for mommy down the road......:stoned::stoned:
We have one of the AK 47 clones in hydro that we just turned....she's doing very well in a 5 gal bucket (DWC and drip) and is handling larger numbers great so far (haven't grown this plant in hydro before......)
Got two power plants in 3 gallon soil pots (second one just brought in today) and we turned the AK-47 clone mom as well after transplanting her into a five gallon soil pot.....and she WAS rootbound alreaady in the 3!!! So we decided to turn her as well. ;)

Hey, you got weed. I realize it's not what you were hoping for, but to be totally honest, I wouldn't presume to hope for so much. I don't know what else you can do either, but I'm very happy just putting along at several ounces per plant. If I get weed, and the plants are healthy, I know I'm doing things right. If you do things right, there aint much more you can do.
On the other hand, if you give me a big enough container and enough time I know I can get pounds off one plant. If you veg for a couple years... I keep having this dream of one plant filling up a warehouse before budding. That would be a tree of course.
Your stuff looks awesome!

It was 103 here 2 days ago, which happened to be the day after I planted some AK and BBxNL clones outdoors. The latter are loving it, but the AK may or may not be dead at this point. I mulched with straw, and the AK leaves above the straw are shriveled to near nothingness, but a few little leaves under the straw seem healthy. If you ever plant AK outdoors, watch carefully for bud rot if it starts raining for a couple days.

MVP
My comment is that if you are able to find some bulbs that are 5700K your plants will grow about twice as well as with 6500. Additionally if you ever flower with T-5, if you can find some bulbs that are 2700 they will grow your plants about twice as well as the more common 3000K. And if you do find them, please let us know where.

Darn, aint that the truth. That's one reason I try not to listen to movie critics.
And... Nice, real nice. Everything, really. You should be proud of yourself. Real glad you are now able to work with some AK-47. I almost feel like they're my Godchildren or something.
Thank you for all the things you teach us.

I've taken the AKs to 1650 near the end of flowering. She's an eater.

103 in your area!! More humid than we are too no doubt. You guys having huge fire issues as well??
You're right Opie that if I take the "expectation" out of the equation I wouldn't be crabbing at all. And honestly everyone is pretty cool about it......I"M the crabby one....!!! ;):wtf:
Thanks for the info on blooming ak.....we've got a soil one in there too and they are honestly doing terrific! I've also gotten comments on "what a pretty plant that is" in general with the purple tinge and lovely green leaves. I'd like to take ALL my hyro stuff up to at least 1500ppm and more if we can get away with it so we'll see how it goes this grow. (PS....the strawberry haze burns at anything over 850ppm but the rest of them are SNARFING up the nutes.)

Humid as sin, but no fires that I'm aware of. If you like breathing cardboard and sweating oceans, the humidity is just right. I swear I was having trouble breathing in all this water. Thank God for heat pumps.

MVP
All things being equal, I'd go for the four bulb. The eight's actually tossing a bit of heat- bulbs don't seem to last as long.
Don't pay extra for the Agrosuns- anybody who's stocking the New Waves will also have the GE Starcoats- work as well or better, and they're cheaper.
I'm in and out, Weedy- but I always check yer log. I try to check for new posts containg the text string " Rhizome" at least every couple days, so if I can be helpful, call out, and I'll find it sooner than later.
Just a little busy ( and a little sun-burnt) this time of year.;)
-
TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
Always glad to see you of course rhizome. :) Yeah it's either floods or fires these days depending on where you are.
-
TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
That's because the end is at hand.
You people better get busy on those bomb shelters, and vacuum sealing your stash.

:thumbsup: - on the harvest, Mrs. Hound!
Been away for a little bit... I harvested a few months ago, and have been stuck in a perpetual haze ever since... but it's nice to come back and see others bringing their hard work to fruition! 'Bubblicious' and 'Blue Widow' are next up on my list, and I've finally got a makeshift Rubbermaid tub DWC setup for trials with a good mother of both crosses. If it weren't for you, and several others on these boards, I'd still be terrified of getting my hands wet. So, thanks for the swift kick in the ass and the inspiration it brought me!
And congrats with Fang... may she bring you much mind-numbing happiness!
-
TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
Mr C great to see you!! :)
Start a log if you would with your new DWC so we can all come over and stand around offering zero assistance and generally getting in the way and causing havoc which is what we are best at. :D
Cant wait!!
-
TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
Haha! It'll be my first bout with the wet stuff, so I'm sure opportunities to lend assistance will be plentiful and repetitive. Thanks again, and great work!

Here, people seem to be more relaxed, and Stinky has luckily that endowment to filter out the, kind of trouble-maker, unsocial persons.I respect Her for that, keepin the place clean. I like this place, you Americans see things much different like ppl around here, it's always a refreshment for my mind to read your log, and to hang around in threads.
Anyways, if you like, and have some time, check out my outdoor log....it's not a big thing, but i like to go out to visit the plants, nature is interesting and beautiful....i hope they gonna yield something, i need the medicine....
Good luck whit your next grow....like i did before, I'll be watching...can't wait to see the next update pix....:hippy:

Mosquitos!! LOL!! Never heard them called that before. Yeah those little monsters carry around more disease than anything else on the planet!
-
TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
Muskee-doos! Evil!
More disease than your average college sophomore, though? I doubt it. :D
-
TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
And that sophmore may get around more as well......:D
-
TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
Skeeters are some bad mammajammas 'round these parts too - we have these tiger mosquitoes, and they are some pretty large-bodied bloodsuckers. They are probably fairly diminutive from those found in Alaska though - from what I gather. I think I eat too much garlic and drink too much beer for them to like my blood, but they eat my wife and kids up!
WH, I'm continuing to check in on your thread for a smoke report once Fang has cured up right nicely. I hope all is well with you and yours. Have a Happy 4th!

TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
Hey Hound, ever try bubblebags for your excess sugarleaves and trimmings? I just spent a bundle on an 8-bag system, 5-gallon size. I'm hoping to try them in the next 3-4 weeks or so. I might be convinced to lend them out after I put them thru their paces a few times.....
-
TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
You know MVP I JUST started making hash and right now I'm trying a cold water extraction with coffee filters. So far it's worked great! Do you keep your trim in the freezer before you work with it......and if you do......do you freeze it wet from harvest or do you dry it out first?
-
TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
ha ha....texas sized mosquitos......who INVENTED those little fuckers anyway. :wtf:
-
TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
Yeah Hound, in the past I've been freezing them wet right out of harvest most of the time. However I have an old bag of dried trim and sugar leaf that I just threw in the freezer a minute ago so I could try to make some Independence Day hash this afternoon. I'll let you know how it goes, maybe even post up some directions here if ya don't mind the hijack... :D
-
TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
You see now freezing it wet NEVER occurred to me. Instructions would be GREAT MVP.....I'm just now getting into the hash thing and want to try some different ways.

Thanks 'zome, heat is the enemy in this space so 4-bulb it is... anyone find a source for 5700K bulbs?

TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
Hey again,
Here's a scan of the instructions from my cold water extraction kit I bought from Bubblebags. I gave it a spin with dried (then frozen) trimmings last night but was not prepared for taking DIY photos.
At any rate 1/3 of a paper bag worth yielded about 2 grams of high quality 73 micron hash. I could have processed the herb again and squeezed another gram out of it but since the plant matrial was so-so quality I just made the one pass and called it a night.
I'll post a detailed DIY thread next time... around the end of next month. :detective1:

Hows things been going with the gardening.... Any new projects coming up?
Hey MVP that bubble hash thing would be great... Stink went to that East Coast Nugs and they did a Seminar on it over their.... We should get a CANCOM NUGS AND JUGS GOING!!! We could have everyone pay for their own back round checks... LOL
Looking foward to the Bubble hash 62 days left.....

TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
MVP how long would you say it took you from taking the trimmings out of the freezer to the finished product?
-
TEST LAUNCH-Operation Redwood Tree
Hmmm, it was about 2 hours from when I took the trimmings out of the freezer until I had run all 8 screens and was done pressing hash. Not exactly sure how long it is supposed to take to dry; I leave it alone for a week or so and that seems fine.
In my setup the first and second bag (220 micron and 190 micron) are to filter out the plant matter from the crystals. The next 3 bags - 160, 120, and 90 micron - are considered cooking grade (or commercial grade) concentrate. The final 3 bags - 73, 45, and 25 micron - produce "full melt" hash. In my limited experience, I feel that the 90 micron bag make nice quality too...
