Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is good on anything. And Harold and Kumar go to White Castle.
Thumbs Way Up: Who'll Stop the Rain
I may have posted about it before, but I recommend Who'll Stop the Rain , which is Nick Nolte's best role. The book that it was based on is also very good, and that is Dog Soldiers , by Robert Stone. The main character in the book and movie, Ray Hicks, was loosly based on real-life "beat" hero Neil Cassady - who also drove the "Merry Prankster" bus with Ken Kesey's legendary troupe (Electric Kool Aid Acid Test, etc.)
This is NOT a comedy. It is about a drug smuggling scheme gone very wrong. Great action from Nolte, and other stars. You gotta see this. I bought the DVD, although I orignally saw it in the theaters. Read the book (Dog Soldiers), first, if you can. It won, deservedly, important book awards when it was published. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/039...83155&v=glance
Thumbs down (WAY down!): Saving Grace
I saw Saving Grace in a movie theater, and hated it. I've NEVER seen people, high on pot, or anything other than alcohol (and even that is a stretch), behave the way the people in that movie did.
This is a movie that may be enjoyed by people without much experience with weed, since the acting is adequate. The story is not believable, and the characters are not sympathetic, either. Craig Ferguson, who has a late-night TV show, was a co-writer and actor in this piece of junk. The film won a ??Sundance? foreign-film audience award, which to me means it sucks.
From a negative review of Saving Grace in the Village Voice (NYC) :
1. Smoking pot is naughty. 2. Growing pot is naughtier. 3. Smoking pot causes one to regress to a state of preverbal buffoonery
???..new dimension to the notion of reefer madness.?

My bad, as to the movie in question (although The Wall is one of the all time great stoner movies) but I actually have tried the thing with Dark side/WOO, it works well for like three songs, then falls apart. Still alot of fun, except for going into the video store and renting wizard, I was to old to watch it, to young to have kids that did.Quote:
