Hi guy,
I ve been trying to find out info on how I can open a coffee shop in amsterdam and found nothing! any help?
Also I tried finding if there is a course I can do in tranning on how to open a coffee shop I found a couple of arctiles but nothing can anyone direct me in the right direction!

Well first of all I need to know if its possible to do that if the dutch goverment is alowing new coffee shops to be opened also I would like some tranning before I open my own coffee shop
I dont really think theres a Coffee shop 101 training course at any school. Basically u just run it like any other independant business exept your selling weed and beverages and what not.
Well I did a search and in 2002 head of normal in new zeland did a course cos he was thinking of opening a coffee shop in new zeland! There was this other scottish guy and a brit who also did it but I cant find where they did it!

Sorry, I can't be of much help with the Cafe info...other than I would LOVE to participate. ;) I have experience running a restaurant/pub/bar, so I'd assume it'd be pretty much the same, just with fewer bouncers. LOL...darn peaceful stoners.

Damn, man...from most of your posts I've read, it just really seems like you don't have many nice things to say about anyone. That's a real bummer. I'm not trying to flame you and I'm not going to give you any neg rep because it seems like you get that on your own from others. It just seems like you are not adding any information here...just increasing the animosity. That's a little harsh. No doubt, opening a coffe shop in Amsterdam is not the easiest thing to do...especially if your and American, but it is doable. I would however, suggest that if you are seriously contemplating moving and going through with it, you should first go visit and find out if its really for you. Once youve done that, you can start looking at the logistics. Its true, the Dutch government has been restricting the number of licenses distributed to coffe shops. If you want to go legit in Amsterdam, this could serve as a problem but there are still ways of obtaining a permit. Another main factor that comes into play is space. Real estate in Europe, especially in smaller more confined city areas (which most of europe is) is extremely expensive. So before you get down to the good stuff (profiting and smoking yourself out on your own ganja) you need to seriously think about capital and rental space. After that, if your a real all round anything to do with cannabis kind of person and serious about living out your dream, youll enjoy building up and maintaining the shop. Coffe shops are run just like legitimate businesses, so if you think you can handle it, go for it.
If Amsterdams not for you, theres always plenty of ganja oppurtunities in beautiful Schweiz (switzerland), where swiss citizens just voted on 100% marijuana legalization for adults!
A lot of it boils down to money mate.
You will need a considerable amount, look at loans perhaps if you don't have any savings or anything.

Firstly , you will not be able to open a coffeeshop in Holland.
They have suspended the issue of licences for coffeshops and no new ones are to be issued for the forseeable future.
The only way you can become a coffeeshop proprietor is if you can find someone willing to sell you thier exisiting business complete with licence .
They are actually reducing the amount of MJ outlet shops in Amsterdam. The government is closing 43 shops:( by 2011

I lived in Amsterdam from 98 to 06. It was quite hard to get a work permit as an American.
The Bulldog Cafe that they are talking about closing in the article is the one on Leidseplein (across from Boom Chicago). There are 3 Bulldogs, the oldest one being in the Red Light District. Unless it is near a school, I'm pretty sure it won't be closing anytime soon.
I liked the Bulldog, went to the one in the Red Light District a fair few times last time I went, maybe because the location was a big factor as we were staying about a stone's throw away...friendly staff also

But i have the same idea like you open a coffeshop in amsterdam!
And as an german i can tell you that it will not be easy to open it because of some reasons
1.In Netherlends it isn`t allowed to grow weed!But to sell!
That will be your first problem because you need a very good contact in nl
from where you get your weed and hash and you need a lot of it.
So you need a lot of money to start.You will need 5-6 different strains from
weed and hash because you are not alone selling there.
2.You are not an european so they will not except you and they will not give a license to sell.So you have to be an Nl or you know someone in Nl you can
really trust so that he does the buisness in your name.
3.And you dont need any school for it when you wanne open a shop in nl
you will need a contact good prices and things to know that you can not
learn in any school.When you wanne do it you need to know how this
buisness goes.Right!
The best you can do is go to Amsterdam and ask some owner from shops
the most of them are not really european sorry i dont know to explain it
but they are from libanon or some where else and then they becom an Nl???
talk to them some will help you some dont do it.When you in Nl
look for an big contact that is the most important or you grow your own!
I told i wanne do it also but it is very difficult when you dont have the money
to start.
And i dont wanne say dont do it i just wanne say that in european it will
not easy for you wenn you not an european or Nl.

I have read some here in this forum and i know from a film that you can buy weed america because of medical reasons!Thats funny for me because here in germany you cant.But i have an other question you have very intersting strains
in us strains i never heard.Can you tell me a good seedbank in us because i grow for my own and im looking for something new;)
I don't know if you would be interested of sharing information. I am also working on this project as for my self. I personnally tink it is less a pain in the ass to buy one with the complete liscence than opening one your self.
