Tried Cannabis, Bad Experience
I love learning about new things. I love figuring out parts of the world I never knew existed before. I loved learning about cannabis, the plant, the history, the culture.
I'm obsessive. I jump from hobby to hobby, interest to interest, and devote myself to it night and day until I lose interest.
I don't really know what got me started. I'm not very social, so I never went to parties and didn't really fit right into a group. I would only hang out with one other person usually.
It was probably when someone I met offered to smoke with me. I had seen all the clues before: a bong here, some people high there. But it was fascinating to see someone pull out a glass pipe, find a nice little spot in the trees, and blow out that large, pungent cloud of smoke. I thought I would try it, but changed my mind that time.
I forgot about it, but it opened me up a little bit to the world. I got preoccupied with work and life.
I was interested in the plant. The War on Drugs. The chemistry. The tactics of the different sides, cops and dealers. National differences, Canada and Amsterdam. The whole culture. The taboo of the word "marijuana." The size of the whole issue I had ignored before.
Fast forward to 2 weeks ago. I had gone through great pains to get some bud. I spent many dollars on accessories. It was so cool. I entertained my fantasies of being a cannabis advocate and marijuana connoisseur. I visited hemp stores. I sought out glimpses into the forbidden realm of drugs, from items in retail stores to people on the street.
Everything was set up perfectly. I knew everything. I knew I would love this holy herb. It had made me bold and adventurous already. I loved what it had done for me, and I hadn't even tried it. It made me not scared to be different and have my own opinion.
I heard the first time high is awesome. This was just the start of a new life, or so I made it out to be. I made a pact to not try it alone. I would find a friend that would be interested in chilling and enjoying the plant.
I found someone. It was exciting. The opportunity came, he showed me his stash, he had lower quality stuff, I had chronic. I showed him my toys I had invested in, enough to prove me a pothead, but I hadn't even taken a puff.
We talked about MJ, set up chairs, set up a table, got out the gear, and the required glasses of water. We had some fruit.
Then we started our session. Ground up some of the dank stuff. Vaporized one bowl. Didn't feel much at all. I heard the effects were subtle, but I also heard that the first time you got high you would know it. It was easier to laugh, but I didn't notice much else. We packed and vap'ed the next bowl. We were having trouble working the vaporizer. But when we could see and taste the vapor air, we knew it was working.
I wasn't feeling much at all. I knew it hadn't hit me. He had more experience, so I asked him how he was feeling. He said he was feeling something, but I thought he was just being nice. I pressed him and he admitted he wasn't stoned.
It was getting later, but I was determined to have this work. I had planned everything and I was goddamn well getting stoned. Why the hell didn't it work?
(In hindsight, I realized we used different weed to vaporize. When I had trouble finding weed, a friend gave me one bowl that had been sitting in his car for god knows how long. Subject to improper storage and extreme temperatures, I conclude it had lost all its potency. We should have used the real, fresh, potent stuff I bought.)
Firecrackers. I convinced him that I knew a simple and reliable way to cook cannabis. I knew all the culinary pitfalls, I had done so much research. He had tried cooking on his own to no avail, but he had also had special brownies that definitely worked. It was late and he knew the high would last a long time, but I insisted that it would be fine. We headed to the grocery store. Saltine crackers and organic peanut butter, check!
We ground up about a gram of chronic and made four crackers. We each ate one. So we had .2-.3 grams of bud.
I had no idea it could be so powerful. After he left is when I ended up having the worst experience of my life. It was most definitely a bad trip.
Afterwards, I had a greater appreciation for life and normality. I guess it's not for everyone.
I wasn't silly enough to thrown everything out, but I knew I may never try drugs again. The smell of weed, before curious, now makes me nauseous. I now have some sort of loathing towards the herb.
And people said it was enjoyable, relaxing, enlightening...
I don't know what to believe anymore.

But then again...I'm sort of wondering myself.
Eating cannabis gives a MUCH more intense high, even some experienced smokers have "bad trips" on cannabis.
Try smoking out of a regular glass piece, or even roll one.
But, at the end of the day, it's your choice, and your life. If it isn't for you, it isn't for you.
Your problem, really, wasn't that you ate chronic. I think you're problem was you tried too hard to be something that you really weren't (aren't). Ya know?

The effects of cannabis on the body when ingested are much more intense. Try smoking a few more times. Make sure you're in a comfortable environment and with somone you know and can trust.

Ugh. That entire post sickened me.
You had no fucking idea what you were doing, you were a poseur, and then the one time you actually get a taste of what you're talking about, you shun it and all drugs?
I want to SLAP you.
Snorbel, don't smoke again. Trust me, you will get nauseas. You'll have a bad trip and risk killing your family, friends, even your pets. The pores on your skin , with the advancement of your addiction, will start emitting a thick syrupy goo, that permeates your entire being with the smell of the illegal drug. Eventually you'll fall into a permanent state of mental decay, while your soul is screaming for you to stop, but you'd already gone too far. You did it again. You confined yourself to a short-lived life of crime, disease, and sexual promiscuity. One day, months after that fateful descision to smoke marijuana, a thought, something you hadn't felt in weeks, will pop into your head. It will tell you to hang yourself. And you will.
Don't smoke marijuana Snorbel.

I'm sorry to hear about your trip. Don't give up hope and take it easier with the herb. You probably only need .5 grams of some nice chronic to get you in that relaxed state of stone (From smoking, not eating). From there you can proggress into a much more intense stone and appreciate its wonder. Also can you describe what was so terrible about your experience? I'm sure a lot of people on this forum wouldn't mind helping you achieve that inner bliss with cannibis.

Eating cannabis does intensify your high, maybe thats why you didnt enjoy yourself that much. Sort of like if you've never been drunk before and you drink a bottle of whiskey, your not gonna like it.
I think you should smoke a few more times as you never really know if you like something if you only try it once. Wait until your familiar with the symptoms before you decide if smokings for you. But to be fair I reckon the majority of people could actually benefit from using cannabis.
I think its good some people are coming here to actually discuss things like this. Makes a change from " ma bitch ass mom stole my pipe and grounded me" Peace dude.

I know a lot of people say that eating cannabis is mostly a body high, that was why it shocked me how it affected my head.
Don't get me wrong, this has changed my individual inclination towards drugs, but has not affected my beliefs that these substances should not be illegal. I just have to know how sensitive I am.
Please don't downplay my experience, Inferius. You are right that I am a poser and maybe I don't belong in the cannabis club. Feel whatever you want towards me, but know that I am a very nice person and accepting of people.
I have used Salvia before (chewing) and I didn't have a bad experience.
I don't regret it at all. We learn the most and can gain strength from our nightmares. Once you look down the abyss and fall, catching yourself and pulling yourself back up, you lose the fear of the unknown.
Knowing is always better than not knowing. Have some love, Inferius.

Well you said it was bad, but what was so bad? =/ It messed with your head? Did you have to many creative thought patterns? :O Your vaporizer probably didn't work well, trust me I have a decent vape but the volcano is the only vape you should ever consider buying. You need to get back on that horse, man. Roll a joint, smoke it yourself, get high, you WILL enjoy it. You probably underestimated the effects of cannabis. You prob had no idea, but now you do. Thank you, try again.

Well said. *Takes love and adds it to meager personal collection*.
Pot isn't for everyone. However you didn't smoke pot. You ate it. An entirely different expirience. If you truly want to understand what you so immediately wanted as part of your identity, then smoke some weed. Do it a couple times, by yourself, with friends, watching a movie/listening to music, and in nature.
Months from now, you might look back upon this and realize how much of an idiot you were being.
Edit: oh, and the reason I was so hateful: You are just like me. I am just like you. I hate the obsessive side of myself. And I hate how I used to be a poseur in so many ways.

Actually it is for everyone I thought I had a NDE on weed and the more and more I smoke I think back to that day and laugh at how high I was knowing now I was no where near dying. You just need to get more experienced.

Cannabis should not be judged based on the effects experienced the first few times. It is not uncommon for some people to feel nothing at all the first few times, while others may barf or feel disoriented or nauseous or dizzy or just sleepy. Eating cannabis also allows the body to metabolize delta-9 THC into a more potent form that you do not get via smoking, so eating it the first time was probably not the best idea either.
It's your life, but I wouldn't rule out cannabis based on this first experience. It has so many potential medical benefits (especially in regards to preventing cancers) that it would be detrimental to your lifespan to just chuck it out the window based on this initial try. I mean, you could ultimately be deciding whether you want to live to be 75, or do you want to live to be 80. While that's undoubtedly a long ways off, it's still not a decision I'd make lightly, and if you rule cannabis out you may regret that choice when you're 75 and dying.
More power to ya, whatever you decide.

I agree with you 100% except for the chance of an increased life span. I know and accept that we all must die one day and I doubt I ever make it to see 70 even with all the weed I smoke lol.

who the fuck buys a vaporizer and all sorts of other shit without ever smoking?
-
Tried Cannabis, Bad Experience
I've definitely had some bad trips where i didnt enjoy my high and considerred quitting, but I smoke everyday so that never lasted...
I'd say smoke the rest of that bud you got (not all at once of course) just pack a bowl and smoke it down, I guarantee you'll be blown to hell after only a few hits since your etolerance isnt so high... and just try and relax and enjoy it

Not all times are going to be great ones. Just give it one more try before you just give up on an exiperence you HAVE to know once in your lifetime.

You know what your problem is?? Your too uptight.. you try to get people to accept you by doing what they do... you do all this research on pot only to have it let you down... what you need to do is be yourself and chill. That is the key!! Chill!!! Ok you had a bad experience but that doesn't mean you should let that stop you from doing it again. Like I kno that I have my fair share of bad experiences with it but i have had WAY more good experiences with it. Here is my advice to you 1). Try again only this time use a glass pipe, bubbler, or a joint. 2). Don't buy stuff for pot if you haven't tried it. 3). BE YOURSELF!!! and 4). CHILL OUT!! Seriously if I met you in real life, I would probably hate you. But really, try it again because the high can only get better. And CHILL OUT!!!
-
Tried Cannabis, Bad Experience
try it agian and chill out. seriously man chill. That is my best advice.
-

Yeah or you could just do like you originally wanted to do and quit. But, if you quit just mail that weed to me :).
-

I agree above, chill out man, thats what smoking mota is all about... just relaxing

Marijuana? Intense? Maybe for someone who's never touched any sort of drug before, but it's nowhere near intense.
Look, the simple fact of the matter is, some people like smoking and some don't. You know those people that just can't drink or something horrible happens? Same thing, different drug.
The other thing is, you went into it backwards. I feel that you wanted to smoke because you wanted to be a part of the lifestyle, not because you like weed. Remember, most real stoners aren't wearing bob marley shirts and always talking about weed; real stoners are the ones sitting in their room, listening to the music of their choice, and just escaping from the day for a little while, before they have to return to the monotony that is life.
Cannabis is incredible, but it's just not for some people. I'm here to tell you though, if you're going to let one bad experience shape your way of thinking on a subject, you're gonna have one boring and unhappy life.

-

Don't give up. Everyone boasting about their experiences really don't have any worth telling without adding all the extra ego-nonsense inbetween. So just do what you do and be persistant because you really haven't been high unless you've experienced peace with the plant.
-
Tried Cannabis, Bad Experience
u should have just smokedddd it!!!
-

I would never advise eating for a first experience it is far too intense and isnt even the effect you want to achieve from your first session. I would of thought you'd of known this with all your research and all.
Anyway dont give up on the weed it is the most beatutiful and natural thing you can dip into on a daily basis and it WILL change your life for the better if you just losen up a little and nail a few spliffs.
Peace and good luck

It's fair to say that, unfortunately, marijuana just isn't for everyone.
I can tell you're reasonably intelligent, but I think the fact that you read so much about it may have fucked up the experience for you. From reading and hearing so much about weed, your expectations must have been through the roof, and that is really not the way to go about it. Also, as many have said, it's really not smart to start out with marijuana by eating it. It's also true that many people have either no effect or an adverse effect their first few times, so please don't be discouraged by all this. Smoke it out of a pipe, a bong, a joint, or a blunt with an experienced friend, and if nothing really happens OR if you have another "bad" experience, simply try it again after awhile. If you finally experience a true, good high and still end up not liking it...well, it really isn't for everyone.
I strongly recommend giving it a few more tries, however. I know there's many of us on here who would love to introduce you to it the right way, if you lived anywhere near us.
Good luck. I hope you end up liking it, because, even though I'm on hiatus right now, this plant has improved the quality of my life.

Tried Cannabis, Bad Experience
I hope he'll give it another try sometime, too. And I hope he will come back here as well.
But I wouldn't blame him at all if he didn't, frankly, after reading some of the harsh responses he got. It's so important to let others have their own experiences, even if they don't correspond with ours or agree with our beliefs. Some of you who were the harshest with him surprised me because you're not usually that way.
Best of luck to you Snorbel, and please don't let this exchange permanently color your opinion of cannabis or cannabis users in a negative way. Sorry you had a bad experience!
