White Widow

hey guys, new to this thing aswell, thort i might b able to get a few tips... well my bro has currently been growing a plant for me, a white widow, id say it was about 10-12 inches high now and a female, seems to be growing fine, but im not growing it with lights, its outside in my backyard, i water each or every other day, and its looking good. here in england at this time it doesnt go dark till around 10pm and its light at around 5pm, looks like its starting to flower, as the top has opened up more and the whiskers off the stem r getting bigger, but im wondering if it will propily bud without a proper cycle, if i leave it in my backgarden with the current daytime situation here in england 10pm dark 5pm light, because the early nights are soon too come here in england i think rnt they? wat shuld i do? ill upload a picture off my phone soon, and get another one of it to show u it a week later from wen i got it off my brother.

you have to wait for the light cycle to reach about 12 hours on 12 hours off no matter where you are. The only plant that i know of that you do not need to worry about this is a lowryder. These plants do what they want when they want it. just think your plant will get nice and tall with a lot of bud by the time your daylight changed over by you, just keep an eye out for any possible cold nights when it get a little closer to mid sept and oct

hey thanks for the reply, i cant let the plant grow tal, its in my back garden lol, i might bring it indoor on a 12/12 cycle then, but use sunlight and no hps lamps, cover it up wen needed put it back outside wen needed, think it will still become a good plant, or do u specifacly need a hps

hey guys, just wondering if u b able to say if my plant will b ok with a 150w cfls and a auro glow tube, got them off a friend last night, he says the auro glow tube is wat the sunlight is, 42,000 lumens it gives out, going to bring it in at 5pm today so its had 12/6 for a day from 17/6, bring it in tonite get it on 12/12 with the lights, will that be ok, any suggestions will b grateful and very helpful thanks :)

You should be careful mixing artificial and natural light. It could cause alot of stress on the plant and possibly stunt growth or something to that effect.

And the sun gives off WAY WAY WAY WAY more than 42,000 lumens...LOL :smokin:

ye my plant is looking nice out the back in the sun on 17/6 days, but can i use the sun glow tube with my cfl, will it make any difference? wen i take it inside, thats all the lights that will b on it, mayby a bit of light from the window as ill have them on in the day, then cover it up wen it needs to b.. im planning on taking it indoors today, yesterday it had a 17/6 cycle wich it has been since vegging, and today it will have had 12/6 so wen i take it in today ill cover it up in the dark till 12 hours has reached so then its on 12/12, will this be ok?

The sun generates so many more lumens than any human could possibly produce in a grow room.

I guess the problem is by switching it from natural sunlight to the artificial light of a CFL and a sun glow tube is an extreme change in how much light the plant will be absorbing, which might cause undue stress.

When I moved my plants in from outdoors, I slowly integrated them into their new artificial light environment by making a canopy of sorts over the plants for a week thus slowly introducing them into an artificial environment.

BTW how can something have a 17/6 cycle? That only adds up to 23 hours. Aren't there 24 hours in a day? Should be 18/6, I believe.

ye thats wat i ment, but i need to get this plant indoors, i cant leave it to wait till the world decides to go to flowering hours, wich will b october the plant will flower by, it will grow to big in the backyard, how would i go about getting it going on my lights, its only 1 plant so...

I think she needs some nitrogen. So you have this plant in 12/12 now, right? I couldn't figure out what you are using for indoor light. Are you using natural light for 12 hours and then covering her up?

hey yes, i am going to use natural sunglight wich she has been all her life, cover her up wen 12 hours is done, ive only got 1 20w cfl and a 8w sun-glo wich i doubt will get it flowering, so ill av to stick too sunlight, is it too early to start flowering or shuld i leave her to veg more, wen do i tell..

Why don't you just build a box for the plant outside? Cover it up for twelve hours a day and force flowering outside? :smokin:

Or alternatively, just leave her outside but train her along a rail or stick to grow horizontal instead of upwards?

The lights you have now might keep the plant *alive*, but that nowhere near enough energy to generate buds.

So, you got this from your brother...was this a clone from a female? ...so you KNOW you have a female here, or did he grow this from some seed?

hey guys, sorry for not posting for 2 week, was no point using my phone camera so i bought myself a digi lol :) thort id update date u on how my WW is doing,shes doing great, started her on miracle grow all purpose food today just as shes starting to flower, about 4-6 tiny white pistils have come out under the cola, so shes looking good, cant wait for 6 or more weeks to come when shes done :D and as u can see on one of the pics i have 3 lilttle ones growing too from cuttings, accidently cut one of the bud braches off, decided to plant it see what happens lol, hopefully ill get some nice potent bud, that will kick the shit out of any shite skunk u get here in england (North West) she looks droopy as i had fed her not long ago wid 7ml miracle grow in 2litres of water, she didnt have the 2litres, just under. keep you guys update

hey guys will post pictures soon, wen the pistils get bigger i only have 5mp digi cam cant quite pic them up yet, just wondering if there are an fellow uk growers here near the north west or anywhere in england that have white widow growing and can post a pic of how there babys are doing, as its the middle of auguest now so they should b all starting to burst! my pistils have only started to come out in the past few days so id like to now from fellow uk growers on wen id expect to harvest, i dont meen to sound dumb im not, im going to check the trichmoes. Im hoping it will b ready by the begginging of october, wuld like to no from other uk growers who have white widow what do they think, i have it outdoor i posted in the wrong section to start off wid lol so if my pistils have only just started to come out in the past few days, has it took longer den 6 weeks to flower yours? im hoping for october!!!!!! :o

hey guys, quick update on my white widow, shes doing great, these pics were taken ov a nighttime its y she droopy :), id say she was nearly in her 2nd week flowering or is in her 2nd week, been plenty of sun here in the NW of UK but along wid some bad rain too, the pics below are what i took today, think the rain is making her droopy a bit, im not sure... shes been drooppy for few days now fed her sum miracle grow all purpose food 15-30-15 on friday, i feed her every 2 week as it says on the box. mayby im over feeding? other then the droopyness the past few days shes been fine growing great :)

from my experience ww is not really a big yeilder. but some good smoke.

leaving her for 10 week, shes nearly done 2 week if u count the flowering starting soon as white pistils come out? that happend mid auguest so leave her till end of october :)

If it was grown from seed and it has yet to show its sex, how are you so sure it's a female? I hope it doesn't let you down cause it's a nice looking plant. Good Job

By the way, I have been taking my WW's outside this week when it's sunny to save on electricity and to get "real" sun. Going from natural sunlight to artificial lighting seems to be working ok for me.

sunlight is the best thing for it, its been grown from seed all along with sunlight, even so its not an outdoor plant, its outdoor :) take more picstures in another week or so

hey guys, bout time i updated my post heh :) well shes looking lovly 4 week into flower she is i think, sorry about the poor quality pics but she looks yummy loads of crystals on her :) thinking bout just leaving her for another 4 week, make her have 8 weeks and not 10 as it might be too cold by the end of october.... if it gets to cold in the middle of october, wuld i b ok putting her in my room which isnt very bright to finish off the last 2 weeks mayby leave the normal light on in there give her that extra bit of light or would she be ok do you think..... thanks guys.

well done m8 with the WW, if i knew this earlier i would started growing my own plant in my back garden but i thinks its abit late on in the year to do so as its getting colder. Next summer hopefully i'm gonna grow my own plant.

does the ww plant smell up they yard? as my mum dn't like the smell of it.

nope it dont smell the backyard out :) smells lovely wen i bring her inside tho, cant wait to smoke it :D not long now lol :) seems to of done fine outswide
