Any Religious potheads out there?
ive recently been confronted by a church friend/mentor about smoking the ganj. He was blasting (not in anger) me with reasons about how its addicting but I thwarted that attack. He then went off about it harming a relationship with god. I grew up in the church and dont go anymore but i still live a postitive lifetyle, besides weed because I dont think weed is bad. I just could use some advice if there are any christian potheads and if they exist.
If you are atheist or a non-beleiver, please dont post your bullshit. thanks.

Im not a religious person, but from what Ive heard and read, Jesus used marijuana and hemp. I'd also think that if Jesus were around today, he'd encourage smoking. All the pot heads I know are caring people who actually care about relevant things and arent caught up with material things, greed, selfishness etc. Id smoke Jesus out!!
-

God put hemp and CANNABIS here on our earth, and he is the one that made the first person ever smoke it. So you can tell your friend that he has no fucking idea what hes on about. Everything in the world was put here by god, and its fairly obvious that it was put here to human consumption.

I'd agree with the above poster. I'm not that religious and never go to church but sort of believe in a higher power. I went to religious schools and have a fairly high moral code. I think pot approached in the right way can be very beneficial to your spirituality. It can open you up to your thoughts and makes you examine your actions. It makes you appreciate nature and helps bond people together. Some of the nicest most caring people I have ever met have been what some people would call complete druggies.

For me, smokin' the herb is often an intensely spiritual experience. Now, I myself am not Christian but am what I consider to be a spiritual person, opting to follow a path similar to Wicca. I hardly think that marijuana distances you from God or the 'higher power', rather that it brings you closer. And if this guy starts Bible Bashing you or telling you that everything about cannabis is wrong, simply tell him that you find yourself closer to God and your soul whilst smoking marijuana. If he's still getting stuck into you, offer him a bowl and if he somehow accepts, get yourself in the most chilled settings possible and meditate or peace out. If he's still telling you that marijuana is devil's work, then he's fucking crazy.
Peace

Dude I'm an atheist so this is sorta an objective opinion. I don't see how cannabis should affect someone religiously, its like LIP said; its God's holy herb and he put it here himself.
But I have never ever ever never ever met a ganja smoking church-goer that didn't try to scam me out of my money. Just saying thats all.

According to God cannabis is good.
"I made ALL the seed bearing herbs and saw that this was good"
-God
"NOTHING i made shall be neglected if it is to be recieved with thansgivings"
-God
"It isnt what a man puts in his mouth that makes him unclean, but that which comes out of his mouth makes him unclean"
-Jesus
"Use my seeded herbs to heal man and to help heal nations"
-God
A Christian belief is that God cant make a mistake, therefore those christians who call Gods plants a mistake cant be right.
As a matter of fact, the "prohibitionist" who use God to justify thier behavior, are addressed in Mathew....."In later times....some shall speak in hypocrisy...commanding that thou(you and me) should abstain(not use) from using that which i created". Key word? Hypocrisy.
Ahhhh i see........here's what must of happened...........On the eight day God was resting and looking down at all of his wonderful work when he had realised that he left all of that Cannabis down there, and he said, "Shit!!!! i left all of that Cannabis down there and now people are going to think i want them to use it. I better create republicans and democrats to correct my mistake"

I like what Bill says about education. Bill says..." What we should do is have congress pass a law that prohibits people from learning anything. If that works as well as the drugwar we should have the smartest people on earth in no time"

I'm a confirmed Catholic, and I know that there are others here, also, and when I was still living in Amsterdam, NY, I often had a Jehovah's Witness over and we'd sit on my front porch. I'd smoke pot in front of him, preached the effects it had on me, and we'd talk about God and Life after Death.
I'm sorry to hear that your intervention with a devout Christian was with one who is not open to the ideas that God has put in ALL of his children's heads.

Have another drink.
smoke another smoke.
Remeber the Mighty Chieftains
of the Cherokee and Sioux.
the eminent with a sacred pipe.
The stynx and the satyrs
of the Dryad moon lit night.
Tobacco from the earth
And wiskey from the still
The Pans voice an omen
Silenu has had his fill.

It's completely a matter of point of view. I have a gay friend who thinks smoking pot is going against God. Even if it was bad, nobodies perfect, God knows that. And there are far worse sins.

Christians are the ones who zelously support anti-drug crusades. Not to say I support drug addiction, but I also believe in freedom.

Marijuana is the future renewable resource humans are looking for, that will help solve global warming!
God made all the plants Good or very good!
He already judged them and gave them to humankind!
We are to make good use of these plants given for meat!
Marijuana seed is good food for the whole creation!
We should study and educate our children into using this wonderious plant in a good light!
It filters the waters, cleans and produces the oxygen, consumes c02, cleans and adds a special mycellium to soils...thus enriching them to give more abundantly!
It is a self contained industry on its own!
And now we know how to make fuel that burns clean from it!
Ethanol!
And the drug for spiritual enlightenment!
I believe God made all things for a reason!
Everything is linked together in some fasion, that takes from something else!
And this reality relies on many things working together!
Marijuana is a specail plant!

Take heart Brave Little Toaster, you aren't alone out here.
There are other Christians out here and most likely the ones you'll talk to here won't be as afflicted with plank-eye (See Luke 6:37-49) as your friend.
My personal relationship with the Lord is doing fine and I smoke (except at the moment being as I'm out). In Genesis 1:29, it is very clear that God gave us ALL seed bearing plants. It wasn't until the 30's that man decided it was bad. But God hasn't changed His mind.

I have been told its becuase when we take drugs or drink it allows evil spirits to manipulate and control us..also that we contribute to the deaths of people that die because of our wants and needs..ie..their blood is on our hands. I used to tell my pastor I didn't buy and I rebuked the evil when I did enjoy...he still told me I was sinning..but after I "helped" his wife..hypocrisy again about the plant.

As with any drug, if nothing is wrong with you, then it can only harm. That's what drugs do. Drugs are meant to correct a problem, but, if there's no problem, why fix it?
Evil spirits have been shown, and it's long been known, that they kill brain-cells.
Hell may very well be on Earth.

Shelbay, What a thoughtful reply, I didn't understand exactly what you ment toward the end, something about helping his wife.
Guys, its' easy to put our views on someone else, just as this preacher has.
The bulk offered here is the same flavor.
We think strongly about something and in our narcesism, hay, one size fits all.
Toaster, is making an honest spiritual inquirely, about something that I delt with for years.
I wouldn't say that I know exactly where he is, with this concern, but I now what street hes' on.
I'm tired It's late.
I'd like to come back here tomarrow

Sin can be defined as something that seperates us from God. Smoking Marijuana can only be considered a sin if it somehow does this which it dosnt. God made it...why not show your love for God and toke on.

I changed my thinking many years ago after becoming fed up with the fear, guilt, money, politics, fighting/killing, dominance and scandals that drive organized religion.
I am my own man and follow no one.

Jesus says, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one gets to the Father accept through me. Personally i believe spiriituality to be a very interesting tool of the flesh. The bible teaching that from the beginning of creation the whole earth has cried out to testify the glory of the Lord. Look at this world, with such great order of laws and nature. The possibility of this universe merely happening by chance is in the billions. A higher power had to create this great earth we live in for everything fits perfect for our exist. My friends i come not to insult but to testify of what i believe. Every person can admit that they fall short in their day to day life. Sin, mistakes or bad decisions cannot be denied and for this reason Jesus died on the Cross for our sins. With His perfect sacrifice we can enjoy a direct fellowship with God. Conversing with him, praising him, and enjoying his beautiful creation. Christian denominations have done a very poor job and i will not deny the money, killings, ect. that have happened in the past. Christ did not die for men to do the various things some organized denominations have done. This speaks even further to the fact of the need for Christ's blood to forgive our sins. Friends, Jesus lived and died for the Salvation of this entire earth. His desire is that every human being and earthly creation can live in love and harmony with one another. I pray any who have spent the time to read this post would honestly look into their lives and decide if they truly need a friend, a Father and a Savior. All can be found in Jesus Christ.

Who said anything about denouncing God or Christ, Budda, Ghandi, Mother Theresa or any other wise soul?
There is no one way to God. To say so excludes all other religions in this world.
Spirituality is all encompassing and inclusive not exclusive to itself.
Spirutuality is not a tool of the flesh.

I personally believe in Hellenistic and Kemetic Reconstructionism, of a personal variety, and I use pot as a way of attaining a sort of communion with the gods (or at least as close as a human can get to being in contact with the gods).
Of course there are times when I just smoke to get blazed, but I do believe that marijuana was given to humanity as a gift, not a curse.

Ukmonkey, Your post is almost a month old. I don't know if this was a temporary hassle or a long term general beef. One of my favorite mentors of all time, Wayne Monbleau. mentioned back in "79", that some years prior on LSD he found himself, on a beach ~ looking upward with w/ his arm stretched out and his middle finger in the air. Your closer than you realize. When communication starts, It usually isn't smooth. I'm sure the interest and heart that i feel is just a token compared to his. He's happy to see you as I am also.
Wayne, was on a beach. Where were you? There is significance to this...... Just wondering.
My available time here is very limited this week, I my be late in my response, Thanks.

Im a christian and i do smoke bud..to be completely honest with u no matter how muhc i try to convince myself that smoking bud is a positive thing, and does not affect ur relationship with God, it does..lately ive had to rexamine my life and draw out my faults...Bud is fun and all and i belive its ok once ina while, but it truly can take ahold of you, esspecailly if your a christian. when ur walking with jesus your satans main target. marijuana can be a gate way for sin to discourage you and unmotivate you..i stumbled upon this quote the ohter day about how Satan not wanting you to fulfill God plan for your life because we are part of his ultimate defeat and by unmotivating us to thinking we cant do the things that God has in front of us hes minipulating us to turing away form God.

I admire your honesty. Some friends that are sensitive mature Christians have either quit or expressed notes of caution. I too have quit at different times for various reasons. I am not right now. I am on my own search. You must hear God for yourself, "my sheep hear my voice", You will just know what to do, or not do.
What is the fruit of MJ in your life? Good or Bad?
You must also answer that question ~ yourself.
Thanks James2theson

I just read this..you are so right on this one! When I am not sick I don't enjoy it like I do when I am sick & it gives me relief. I don't really know what it has been lately but every time I try to enjoy mj it does nothing for me..actually agitates me..maybe I will stay healthy this time because I haven't felt this good physically in a long time & I am feeling this way without any "help"..not going to complain about that.

I'm not sure I see your point clearly here, perhaps you can make it more specific? How exacly do you think satan's targetting you through MJ?The reasons I'm puzzled are a)because smoking has been considered as the most typical ritualistic practice in most religions (christianity included) due to the upgoing fumes symbolizing the connection between heaven and earth and b) smoking weed especially is an essential part of the rastafarian worshipping of Jesus -they call MJ "Jah gift" and "holy weed" if I'm not mistaken (rastafarians being Orthodox Coptic christians)
