i wanna clear something up

well ppl i was just browsing the boards and i couldnt help but notice how much 90% of the stoners here hate goths well i am goth and i quite frankly cant see why ........... have we done anything to YOU personally? have i? i see no reason to hate an entire sub-culture for the frivilous and spontaneous acts of a few un named ppl why must the general populataion hate us so? dont get me wrong im not trying the old stereotypical "whoa is me" goth attitude im just asking constructive questions and seeking constructive answers
for instance ppl say the hate us for the clothes and makeup we wear but not all of us wear it i admit i wear eyeliner but this doesnt make me evil or satanic so what buisness is it of John Q. Publics if i should so choose to wear such materials? cmon ppllets spark a healthy debate or something:confused:

Okay, generally I do think of gothic people as either weird or just nuts. That is completely due to my lack of knowledge on the subject. For the most part, the goths I have encountered seem to dress that way simply to go against any sort of conformity or any popular clothing item society deems "hip" or "in". Instead, they are just part of an underground road of conformity, and it really doesn't make any sense to me why someone would claim to be a faithful anti-conformist. Yet you still conform with other goths.

I am just really confused on the whole matter. Just answer me this: what's your own personal reason for dressing like a goth? Is it more than just wanting to express yourself? Really, I want to know.

Someone else her said that "Goth" is just another subculture and I think that's true. It's just group that Goths feel comfortable with... it doesn't matter what you wear or how you wear your "Goth" materials, cause that doesn't mean squat. I hate it when people truly try to be Goth and they become so saturated by their little group that they cease to be indivduals... but a eye make-up and black clothes doesn't make you Goth, so I don't know what to think anymore... do you think you're a Goth? Are you sure?

the only reason i dont like 'goth' is cuz they are too sensitive and they gotta live life like every one else, and them talking shit about 'ghetto' people is really what gets me pissed....

i mean the people i chill with would be considered 'ghetto' people and 90 percent of the goths in my school are getting fucked up on a daily basis for talking shit, so is it me, or are some goths not bitches?

The goth look can be awesome on certain girls ... that's all I have to say on it.

im not against goths. theres a goth chick at my college, theres quite a few actually, she is really nice, and the way she dresses suits her. people dont bag her out, but if they do its only because she is different but thats not a bad thing. they socalize with people who arent goths and they arent outcasts. it must be different here. but people seem to accept them. which is great.
get to know them before you judge them.

although i know some goths are total losers, and they are the people that make cool goths look bad.

and i think goth chicks are HOT. :)

I have a group of like 20 goths at my highschool. It's sort of silly, as there is clearly not a sense of anti-conformity between so many people. They don't make any trouble necessarilly, but they seem to be tied to the whole anime-loving scene, or online strategy games ... very anti-social. I just think that the girl who shaves her head in to a big ugly mohawk and has 20 face peircings is going to look back at her life in 30 years and probably cry at how ridiculously stupid she was.

ok this is why i dont like goths:



1. dont matter how dumb they clearly are they have a tendancy to try and talk down to you.

2.they say they dont dress to impress....yet they spend all their pocket money on make-up and then spend hours in the morning fixing their fake coloured hair.

3.allways having the need to put accross to everyone that they are the so called ''evil one'' the one thats ''diffrent'' i said i was playing ffa once and mentioned ogin sum character int he game and a goth nearby run over and started asking me what i know about the borther of thor and shit. when i said no he seemed pleased he knew aboutt his wierd shit and i didnt.

4.im sorry but there is nuthign worse then a fat gothic chick.

5.they take the piss outta my kinda people for wearing the stuff we wear because they say were sheep and follow the crowd.........well how come your all wearing black? your all wearing eyeliner? your all wearing talcum powder on your faces to make your selves look like sumthing outta dracula?.

I don't HATE as you say goths..maybe some people just don't prefer that lifestyle..but hate?? When I go to the Mall I have seen what I guess would be Goth..and yes I did look..along with everyone else but I wasn't mean or full of hate..but how can you dress and act a certain way that is so different from the majority and not expect some attention? Not saying different is bad at all but yes it draws attention. If you walked down the mall smoking these days you get alot more attention than Goths. What is the thing about all the different colored hair? And the white makeup?

I don't hate goths. I just think they're a little nuts (not necessarily in a bad way:thumbsup: ). Anyone who can stand to wear neck to ankle in heavy all black in 90 something degree weather has something else going on up there.

i don't like goths either. fuck them. but my neighbors goth i guess and he's alright.

it's not just GOTH bashing,

it's also GAY bashing (ever noticed to undermine someone on this forum you call them gay),

really it boils down to: the majority rule and anything outside this realm of popularity is considered fair game to pick upon,

they do say that the bully has insecurities that lead him into this behaviour, but I say it is the one thing that brightens up a school day, it is funny slagging someone even though it is also cruel.

you WANT to be classified as a goth? i thought you were all supposed to be 'individuals'. sounds to me like someone is longing for acceptance. be yourself, you know you will in the end anyway
just my '2 cents' on goths

here is why i dont like them. from what i can see, and please feel free to prove me wrong, yeah a lot of goths are nice if you talk to them but it seems like they are desperately looking for personal identity by dressing a certain way and listening to certain shitty music, and also i think it seems like they want to be a part of a group withoutseeming like they want to fit in

most of the goths i know are ..... how do i say it..... annoying.....they dont talk bout anything but being gothic, some are all right

I dont hate goths, I dont hate any group of people for no particular reason, if I hate a person it wouldnt be a certain group of people it'd be an individual who has done something to me causing me to hate him. If I make racial comments it isnt aimed at the whole race, only towards that person to make them feel bad or is said as a joke.

I've seen SLC punk and liked it a lot, but honestly, I have not seen any goth even close to the characters in that movie. No one is that "dedicated" to being gothic from what I can tell.

That being said, Mattew Lillard is a badass.

It seems to me that the conforming people are the people who hate goths....people say they are conforming to non-conformity, but surly by joining the majority (of goth haters) you are conforming?

So really everyone is conforming to somthing....which throws the whole conforming thing out the window.

Also you can't really generalise...if you are generalising goths you need to do some thinking....it's a bit like saying every who wears green t-shirts thinks they are the shit....its just not true....yes all the people you have met in green t-shirts may think they are the shit, but the fact is, there are thousands apon thousands of other green t-shirt wearing people who have a COMPLETLY different mind set.

Just because it's not to your taste doesn't mean it's not good....

i dont hate goths in general i just dislike the majority of goths where i am. They walk around with big heavy make up and trenchcoats and shaved heads. And walk with no emotion on their face. The ones around here all seem to want "ordinary" people to dislike them and they dont even say hi or try to talk to other non gothic people. but thats just in my area and we dont have many goths
