NEW FORUMS: Baked.com - what should it have? Welcome Feedback... Admins Needed!

Baked is coming soon - the forums there are installed and nearly ready ...

Baked will be a website (basically forums to start with) aimed towards folks (in particular the teen / early 20s [Generation Y] crowd) seeking primarily to socialize with others ... discussion of cannabis would be secondary at Baked.com

Some noteable differences of Baked to cann.com ...

-- Faster registration - no manual verification of users by mods; instead random image text displayed during registration ... not overly user-friendly to older folks with poor eyesight, but for the target audience should be fine; they're used to decyphering such images during registration elsewhere.

-- PMs will be enabled by default (can be disabled in UserCP).

-- IMG tag enabled by default (can potentially reduce user privacy; slower page loading - but can be disabled in UserCP)

-- Longer edit time ... 15 minutes.

-- Delete thread / posts ... not sure about this one yet?, but considering enabling that too due to the content matter.

(for serious activism, grow info, etc the cann.com boards remains the place)

Now the question is what should be at Baked ...?

* What should the Baked logo look like? -feel free to attach logo ideas to this thread.

* The current slogan for Baked is "Baked - The Community of High Folks" ... welcome suggestions...

* What forum topics should Baked have?

* Other than the forums, what else should the Baked website have?

On a related note ...

Admin assistance needed - if you are experienced with vBulletin, have some knowledge of PHP, familiar with MySQL (at least a little), and basically have a good computing background, please contact me via PM and/or via email at [email protected]

This could be paid work, as a private contractor, depending on the scope of the tasks involved ... contact me with your qualifications, references (optional, but helpful), and other info that may be helpful in choosing an admin(s) to run the Baked website (I'm also seeking admins for some other sites too - so even if someone else is chosen to admin Baked, there may be openings elsewhere) ...

Contact me now if you have vBulletin admin experience, etc as explained above. Help is needed NOW!

a recent topics mod would be great lol and the word 'folks' sounds a lil more for older people not sure what should take it's place though.

The Slogan Should Be: Baked.com "Baked Fresh Daily"

I think that there should be room for a "Market Price List" (similar to THMQ in HT Mag) that is updated weekly. It would look good as a righthand column on the main page.

Good point Up In Smoke 420 ... "folks" isn't the best word ... and quite honestly, the whole slogan isn't quite right anyways ... though I like some of the suggestions, such as "Baked Fresh Daily" LOL!

With that said, please keep the slogan ideas coming ... the ideal slogan should not contain the word "baked" at all - may seem counter-intuitive, but most good slogans don't contain the name of what they represent - but there's always exceptions ... so anyways, please post more Baked slogan ideas here. Thanks!

my idea would have the entire content of the page be the forums, but make them totally phresh and interesting.

Perhaps there could be comics made by users and stuff like that that the admin can post up on the main page, but it would be really cool if it focused more around the forums because thats obviously where everyone spends the most time.

Sounds like a great idea. I might be interested in trying one of the mod positions. Though I only have background in Java and some C. I also know some self-taught javascript, and HTML. From what I have seen, I should be able to pick up PHP and MySQL Fairly easy...

There should be a small weekly web magazine section(just a long page really) with a small feature(story), how to roll 'whatever'( new each week), a 'spotlight' (type thing even though i hate that name) for people that stoners should know about, and four 'cloumns' written by four different writers (who can actually write) aka real smarties, (note if they suck it will all backfire and you'lll lose (maybe that's why already not any?)Weel fuck...you can always fire them and then you can't get sued , lol, but anyway......

One of the reasons for writing to you about this is that when you read a marijuana publication these days you get the sneeking suspiscion that all the articles are...... ten words long, boring, have two pics, and make you wonder how these people ever got jobs using words.....and whether they even really smoke marijuana, ever.

It would be cool if you allow us to put images in our sigs when I see someones name I always relate them to there sig and images in sigs just tell you more about the person.

You know how there have always been people at Cannabis.com who complain that there are too many 'kids' here, or that too many people talk about things unrelated to Cannabis? And ron, you know how you've always said "there will never be an age limit" and this place is for us to talk about whatever w want, well uhh, have your changed your mind? It seems like this is a way to kick us all off this site without actually kicking us off.. Are there going to be new MODS, how are you going to know that only young people will register what if it just turns into everyone registering, and when will the board finally be open?
