[align=left]On a recent trip to NY City (last weekend) three gun-mounted, armored tanks/vehicles were driving through the streets of Manhattan. I took these pictures with my camera phone (hence the crappy quality).[/align]

[align=left]I couldnâ??t believe how many people just waved at the armed soldiers peeking out of the top, many even cheered loudly in support. Nobody took the time to say, â??why the hell are armed soldiers and tanks rolling down the middle of the street?!â?�[/align]

[align=left]This happened the day after I saw a NYPD officer in Times Square â?? he was simply standing around watching the pedestrian traffic, the only thing out of placeâ?¦ he was carrying a machine gun![/align]

dude all i can say is WTH.....maybe the govt is preparing for something that they know is about to go down and they aren't telling us? .......and as my wife just said (in diffrent words) what the hell is the point in not telling us for their old favorite reason "becasue they don't want to alarm us" .....WHAT THE FUCKING HELL wouldn't seeing tanks rolling down the street make people wonder and "be alarmed" maybe it's just the "seen everything" new york attitude tho

they most certainly are preparing for martial law...tommy franks said after the next attack, we'll all just realize how useless the constitution is, and trade it in for martial law, a military dictatorship.

i expect to see localized martial law where ever the next attack is...

i've seen a new york times article from the 1930's that talks about how america will be broken up into 10 or 12 zones with rest and relocation centers all over the country...this is the plan of the global elite and the bankers and those who basically own the stock market and big corporations...they just love it.

it's controlled on all sides...from the conservatives to the liberals...the UN is basically there to usurp american sovereignty and take away property rights...like all the big environmentalist movements in the US...people who think they're doing good and saving the environment, are actually just empowering the global elite with bigger government and more unconstitutional regulations...

This isnt the case man, they came at 9/11 and never went away. They have been here since 9/11 and they wont be going away.

I still have no idea who they are supposed to be protecting us from, and to this day you can see National Gaurdsmen in Penn Station with automatic weapons. Its pretty common.

With as easy as it would be to take out a subway station, and to hit many in succesion by even just one man. simply makes it unbeleiveable that they are here to protect me you or anyone else.

They are here to simply raise your tolerance level to them being around. That way its not such a shock when they are forceably benmding the US to their will.

That day will come as well, in the end, the know they cannot control us by keeping us stupid forever. They have started useing Pharms as a way to pacify restless members of society, in an effort to prolonge the use of no force.

But after enough wake up and see what is really going on, they will be forced to control us by force.

To curtail the states militia's the GOV has started tagging ammunition with RFID's. And they have started a huge push to collect up loose cash around the country. There was a 20/20 or 60 minutes episode I saw not long ago that they said over 8 million dollars in cash had been siezed in a single county in florida on the I95 vein to vacation land. I saw the police videos of these fucking scum bag troopers ripping people cars apart and seizeing as little as $1200 as drug money. Never makeing an arrest mind you, just takeing their money, and sending them on their way.

Pushing us to a one card sytstem for it all with our personal info able to be brought up to any PC terminal hooked into the system. Wal-mart is already the top of the food chain when it comes to trying to get your personal info.

I myself was asked my telephone number when I bought something with CASH. When I refused I was told the register would not proceed with out my Telephone number. 10 fake ass digits later I was allowed to by my five dollar item.

Anything online is subject to the same things, but trust me your info is already out there. If you have a telephone in your name its all already out there for corparations to buy. So aside form picking up and moveing and cutting your self loose of all ties to mainstream america you cannot escape what is happening.

This is the number one thing that keeps us down, our dependency on the system, and the lack of desire to do without the things main stream America provides.

Not to mention if you did this most of not all of your friends will acuse you of being anti-american, or a survivalist. I speak from experience there, thats excatly what I have been called by some of my freinds and others.

Dont get me wrong there are people who think just like me, and they are starting to band together. Its just very important to raise public awareness that these groups are not terrorists and they are fighting for us. In short these groups need some PR to make them more viable for the average person. Cause thats what we are here, a Nation of average people.

Bro the only reason to have tanks IN Manhattan, is the raise the tolerance level of the citizens. If you have ever been to NYC, you know that there is no reason to go thru it to transport anything to anywhere.

Any bases would be located on Long Island or upstate as its called. You wouldnt go thru Manhattan transporting when the GWB and the Whitestone bridge get you were you need to be.

I was thinking that. When I lived in portsmouth we had some tanks roaming around one day. People waved and the soldiers waved back, it was hardly fear-inducing.

Do i think that having all these police/national guard soldiers in train stations and air ports is gonna help? well no i really dont. In fact i think its caused exactly what im seeing in this thread....paranoia. Even though Donald Rumsfeld came on the air and stated that in the event of another attack, people would lose their liberties and made it clear that the current constitution would be placed on the back burner for a more militaristic state? I'm not going on hearsay i watched it on television. I read reports about how Roberto Gonzalez thinks torture is okay even torturing people to death. Today it might be one tank with people waving and cheering but wait until another attack. Everyone will be so scared that they'll do whatever soldiers tell them because they'll remember how warm and receptive it was before.

I'd love to say I'd beef up and form my own one-man army but truthfully I don't know. I've never lived anywhere where the army can come in and round up whoever. The thing is though, if that happens I'm not going to get taken by surprise. A training exercise?


Excatly what kind of training are they doing in NYC with crowded streets?

Maybe it was a dirty water dog alert and the drill was who could make it to the hot dog stand first with only a fist full of nickels.

Further more NYC is the perfect place to start with martial law.
Most here already have so much stress in their lives that if they are not in depression already they are takeing anti-deppressants in order to function at work everyday. So these people are already more sussecible to fear as a control than most.
On top of that, one can always say they are simply here to protect us from further "terrorist" attacks, maybe the CIA or FBI got a hot tip from Okbar the bagel guy down the block and they were looking for a terrorist.....

Use real logic guys, I was in the military. They dont run drills so the public can openly see them, and thats a fact.

So exclude the obviuos answers to what they were doing there and you come up with a big fat question mark.

And thats what we should be asking, had I been there I would have talked to them, made friends with them and see what was up for myself. Hell i bet better than 60% of the armed forces are made up of guys from Texas, I am from Texas so thats a huge in. Aside from that they have many training bases down there, so chances are most have been there at one point or another.

All I did was offer my view as to what they are doing parked in the street in broad daylight as crowds of people walked by.

Also Fleet week was here in NYC over the big weekend. I had a freind go down there and he said their gear was totally sick, and if anything I have to say is possible, we as civilian citizens are fucked.

The guy who took it said it was a week old so unless its actually 2 weeks old they should have been long gone by then. Besides in my days in the Navy I came to NYC 2 times dureing Fleet week. Never at any time in both years, did the Marines leave the ship with weapons, or vehicles.

Oh and 53rd and 7th is mid town. not Downtown.

Gen. Tommy Franks says that if the United States is hit with a weapon of mass destruction that inflicts large casualties, the Constitution will likely be discarded in favor of a military form of government.
Franks, who successfully led the U.S. military operation to liberate Iraq, expressed his worries in an extensive interview he gave to the menâ??s lifestyle magazine Cigar Aficionado.

In the magazineâ??s December edition, the former commander of the militaryâ??s Central Command warned that if terrorists succeeded in using a weapon of mass destruction (WMD) against the U.S. or one of our allies, it would likely have catastrophic consequences for our cherished republican form of government.

Discussing the hypothetical dangers posed to the U.S. in the wake of Sept. 11, Franks said that â??the worst thing that could happenâ?� is if terrorists acquire and then use a biological, chemical or nuclear weapon that inflicts heavy casualties.

If that happens, Franks said, â??... the Western world, the free world, loses what it cherishes most, and that is freedom and liberty weâ??ve seen for a couple of hundred years in this grand experiment that we call democracy.â?�

Franks then offered â??in a practical senseâ?� what he thinks would happen in the aftermath of such an attack.

â??It means the potential of a weapon of mass destruction and a terrorist, massive, casualty-producing event somewhere in the Western world â?? it may be in the United States of America â?? that causes our population to question our own Constitution and to begin to militarize our country in order to avoid a repeat of another mass, casualty-producing event. Which in fact, then begins to unravel the fabric of our Constitution. Two steps, very, very important.â?�

Franks didnâ??t speculate about how soon such an event might take place.

Already, critics of the U.S. Patriot Act, rushed through Congress in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks, have argued that the law aims to curtail civil liberties and sets a dangerous precedent.

But Franksâ?? scenario goes much further. He is the first high-ranking official to openly speculate that the Constitution could be scrapped in favor of a military form of government.

The usually camera-shy Franks retired from U.S. Central Command, known in Pentagon lingo as CentCom, in August 2003, after serving nearly four decades in the Army.

Franks earned three Purple Hearts for combat wounds and three Bronze Stars for valor. Known as a â??soldierâ??s general,â?� Franks made his mark as a top commander during the U.S.â??s successful Operation Desert Storm, which liberated Kuwait in 1991. He was in charge of CentCom when Osama bin Ladenâ??s al-Qaeda attacked the United States on Sept. 11.

Franks said that within hours of the attacks, he was given orders to prepare to root out the Taliban in Afghanistan and to capture bin Laden.

Franks offered his assessment on a number of topics to Cigar Aficionado, including:

President Bush: â??As I look at President Bush, I think he will ultimately be judged as a man of extremely high character. A very thoughtful man, not having been appraised properly by those who would say heâ??s not very smart. I find the contrary. I think heâ??s very, very bright. And I suspect that heâ??ll be judged as a man who led this country through a crease in history effectively. Probably weâ??ll think of him in years to come as an American hero.â?�

On the motivation for the Iraq war: Contrary to claims that top Pentagon brass opposed the invasion of Iraq, Franks said he wholeheartedly agreed with the presidentâ??s decision to invade Iraq and oust Saddam Hussein.

â??I, for one, begin with intent. ... There is no question that Saddam Hussein had intent to do harm to the Western alliance and to the United States of America. That intent is confirmed in a great many of his speeches, his commentary, the words that have come out of the Iraqi regime over the last dozen or so years. So we have intent.

â??If we know for sure ... that a regime has intent to do harm to this country, and if we have something beyond a reasonable doubt that this particular regime may have the wherewithal with which to execute the intent, what are our actions and orders as leaders in this country?â?�

The Pentagonâ??s deck of cards: Asked how the Pentagon decided to put its most-wanted Iraqis on a set of playing cards, Franks explained its genesis. He recalled that when his staff identified the most notorious Iraqis the U.S. wanted to capture, â??it just turned out that the number happened to be about the same as a deck of cards. And so somebody said, â??Aha, this will be the ace of spades.â??â?�

Capturing Saddam: Franks said he was not surprised that Saddam has not been captured or killed. But he says he will eventually be found, perhaps sooner than Osama bin laden.

â??The capture or killing of Saddam Hussein will be a near term thing. And I wonâ??t say thatâ??ll be within 19 or 43 days. ... I believe it is inevitable.â?�

Franks ended his interview with a less-than-optimistic note. â??Itâ??s not in the history of civilization for peace ever to reign. Never has in the history of man. ... I doubt that weâ??ll ever have a time when the world will actually be at peace.â?�

That LAV could be on the streets for any number of reasons. Training exercises, public displays, recruitment, road testing. I don't see a machine gun even mounted on it. I have driven military vehicles through public places many many times and I see it all the time where I live. I'll worry about things when the shooting starts. Until then, I'll live my life paranoia free.
