confidence booster 1st grow all input welcome
well i did start this post in outdoor which was supposed to be but things have changed...
These seeds are good bad seed that had me drooling for hours!
well this is my very 1st grow EVER
well i started on sept 24 .. I put 12 good bagseeds in generic potting soil in 32 oz cups with alot of holes since i didnt put perlite in soil
April 28 11/12 popped outta the soil waiting on number 12 but not to worried my magic number is 10...I started to use cfl lights for this grow 6 6500k lights...they worked great to start off ...turned the lights on to 18/6.
may 1 all plants looking good a little streching but no biggy they are in fact going outside by the end of May but i may Flower 1 or 2 in the house not sure yet i kinda wanna watch one grow in the house to learn and gain experience
may 5 I finally said hell with it and went and bought a 600 watt MH/Hps Greenhouse digi ballast ...hood is around 19 inch from tops of plants they are loving the Lumens
May 6 Installed to small fans and a wireless thermometer
May 11 well i got my magic number 10 for plants 1 never cracked and one decided to commit suicide ....
May 13 Transplanted into 1 gallon pots today i Decided id go with 70% FFOF and 30%LW with some extra perlite even know FFOF and LW already have some already but some more cant hurt
May 18 they will be 3 weeks old tomorrow they are getting big cant wait to get them outside and watch how big they get ...IM not sure what to expect out of these plants ...i will be transplanting outside by the end of may or sooner..with the same mixture of FFOF and LW plus i have Fox Farms trio pack to use if needed ..got my fingers crossed for many females
these pics were taken on MAY 18th

June 1st started to use Fox Farm Grow BIG the soil started to run out of nutes in the 1 gallon pot acouple leaves on bottom started to yellow and fall off no biggy though...Used 3 tbsp per gallon plants took it like a champ all but 1 just a couple burn marks no biggy didnt like that one anyways!!!:microwave:
June 11th Transplanted to 3 gallon pots with FOX FARM OCEAN FOREST im thinking more like i hope 3 gallon should be good enough to finish off in i dont wanna transplant again during flowering...from what i read is bad to do but correct me if im wrong please....After topping of with soil i watered and let settle then topped off again leaving room for watering

well its June 14 and im back on track with my journal to my post
been soo damn busy and all ...well i have moved 700 miles away from where i started the plants but i brought them with me ....transported them during their night hours which worked out perfect...didnt even show signs of stress at all ....well its june 14 i changed my timer ...im going to start knocking of a half hour everyday untill i reach 13/11 plus tomorrow morning ganna put the HPS bulb in and put up some 2600k cfls up just 4-5 of them to help with bud sites and all ....temps stay even all the time with the central ac and all around 77-79f barely gets to 80
Oh ya i only have 8 now by the way i left 2 in the other state i was in they are in the ground while someone watches over them ..ill be back up their in the end of september anyways they should be ready by then or chopped if they are males
what are peoples thoughts about 13/11 over 12-12 from my understanding just from reading not experience is it will be better for bud growth
WELL HERE ARE MY BABIES CANT WAIT FOR THEM TO SHOW THEIR SEX
-

i hope atleast half of them are female ill be pissed if they arent ...next time im thinking of going feminized ...i just didnt want to spend money on my first grow and all i wanted AT LEAST 1 grow under my belt....
-

cant wait till they show their sex getting axtious
well i just installed the HPS bulb and knocked another 30 min off their lighting schedule
Will put up more pics soon ...Watering day today..No nutes soil will provide that for the next couple weeks...maybe some superthrive

Everything is looking good from where I sit. Congrats on the successful relocation.
Once I had to move a plant 500 miles during the light cycle. I rigged up a DC inverter and 2 CFL's in the closet of an 18 wheeler. Worked like a charm :D Just had to do some weigh station dodging.

will update next round when they are started. next round will be trying good ole northern lights but the autoflowers. as well as blue mystic. new strains so we need to check them out. Autos are great for personal use in a shorter period. or while you are waiting for your longer plants to finish.
-
confidence booster 1st grow all input welcome
i think i will try the autos out at least once with my next grow anyways...it will be cool to try them out atleast once ....like you said its good for personal use or waiting for the big crop to come in ...this 1st grow of mine has been coming along better than i thought

might want to repot in 5 gallon buckets. I think when done right at begining of flowering. You get the best results. When the roots start to explode south. The buds will explode north. seems to help yeild if the roots are happy and not locked up.Other then that they look awsome.... your grow space looks very clean and organized. i can tell you are following your passion. What size hps you using and whats the room size?

confidence booster 1st grow all input welcome
i just transplanted on like the 11th of june:mad: .i have them in 3 gallon pots do u think those are too small for this :wtf:.. i was wondering myself u think i should go up to 5 or more... im hoping atleast 1 or2 are male so i can make room but if they are all females which i will know soon then i think ill make do or put atleast 1 female outside..still new at this my mistakes will not hit me too hard i hope..:( :smokin:
DIDI 600 watt mh/hps the room is 4 wide 6 long but i only use 4 long cause door swings inward and 9 high

My grow space is similar - 5'W x 8.5'L x 6.5'H. I'm still setting this up as a new grow space so it isn't tested yet. I'm planning a 340 CFM 6" inline fan with a big fat carbon scrubber. Now do have intakes and exhausts cut into my walls so that is different. Also, I'm not cooling anything so it is just for ventilation and odor control.
You could just stick the carbon scrubber and fan in there and have the fan scrub the room and return the clean air locally. It will deal with the odor issue assuming the fan is sized correctly. You have AC coming in but you can not count on it to cool your room unless it is running 24/7 or unless the thermostat is in the closet.
Is it an attic above? If so, you could go up to the attic, disconnect and cap the duct from the vent and then use that as your exhaust. That would be ideal. If you can't do that and if you really can't cut any holes then your only real choice will be to vent and scrub to the same place which does not help you with heat. Why no holes? Is it drywall? My kid can patch dry wall. Seriously.
Also, given that you share the grow space with your room, you should look at quiet fans. Some of the inline fans can be pretty damn loud. I'm using a Panasonic Whisperline inline. Best price is from westsidewholesale.com
Hope this is some help.

i think your results will be better in the 5 gallon containers. Think about it. You still have 6-8 or so weeks to go and the roots will need room. From the past i go no less then 5 gallons. yeild has improved since. It seems you have the rest right and goin for you.

wow guys thanks for the advice on everything im going to ponder everything tonight on what i should do i have a couple things i can do now ..i thank you very much and stop by the grow room in a couple days and see how evrything went
the reason i cant cut any holes is this is a rented home ...if i alter in anyway and the home owners find out my deposit is out the window with now exception which is 2500$$ alot of money to throw down the tube just for a hole in the ceiling
someone else gave me this idea kinda got me confused but im sure if i read it a couple times i will understand a little better
Ok from what you have shown in the pics .... it looks simple ...... disconnect the AC Vent .... move the AC ducticting out of the way ..... you now have a gap to feed some ducting out of your grow room .... get a reducer for your AC pipe and some smaller ducting to feed into your room .... then put a scrubber in your room with a exraction fan and then ducting from the extractuor up thru the same hole as your AC duct (so both small pipes share the same hole ) and then add a reducer in the loft to your small extraction pipe comming outy of your room ..... to a bigger diamiter ducting ...... and then run that to the eves of the roof ......in this pic i can see daylight ..... just poke it out the hole .... Job done ...no cutting ..... seal up the rest of the AC vent hole with duck tape ... all good
-
confidence booster 1st grow all input welcome
I doubt that you can reduce both and get it back through the same hole. Most AC ducting is 4" perhaps 6" if you are lucky. You can not reduce the flow to 2" for either your fan or the AC and hope to get much production out of it. Better to take care of the heat venting needs and just cap the AC duct until you are ready to reconnect it. Also, you want to use silver heat approved tape, not duct tape. Duct tape gets all sticky and deteriorates with heat.
If it were me I'd just cut the holes. So long as you patch it and paint in no one will know. You could even keep the round bit of drywall that comes out and just use that for your patch. It gets a bit more difficult if you are cutting into the ceiling but still not past the beginner level. If your landlord catches you growing it's unlikely you will get your deposit back anyway.
-
confidence booster 1st grow all input welcome
the landlord a friend of a friend that gets bud from me ..but i was under strikt orders not to cut any holes in the house no matter what ..he knows what i do
-
confidence booster 1st grow all input welcome
That makes sense. So use the AC vent. Easy enough.

well so far i have 8/8 plants are female thats a 0.4% chance im not sure me getting 8/8 is a good thing or a bad thing too good to be true or what? ive decided to put 1-2 plants outside to finish off in natural sunlight probably 2 of the stretched ones

consider your self very lucky. Last year I popped 12 seeds with 8 being males. It really sucks when you have to kill 3/4 of your garden because they have nutsacks

Are you sure you need a fan this size? I recall that our rooms are similar sizes. For my new room I calculate that I could use a 340 CFM although I'm getting a 440 CFM for good measure and in case I find myself with more space in the future. I base my calculation on a complete air exchange every 5 minutes.
Here is the calculations needed to size the fan:
1. H' x L' x W' / 5 where 5 equals the number of minutes it takes to exhaust all air from the tent.
2. Take that number and add 10% for each foot of duct and carbon scrubber.
3. Take the original number from item 1 and x by 1.5 for each 90 degree duct elbow.
4. Take the original number from item 1 and x by 1.3 to account for the resistance created by the scrubber.
Add up items 1 through 4. Add 15% to account for cooling needs and another 10% for good measure. This number represents the CFM rating of the fan you need to exchange air every 5 minutes.
If you want to calculate for 4 or 3 minutes just adjust the calculation in step 1.
Be sure to get a fan speed controller so you can dial it down.

room is 216 cubic feet and 24 square feet ...only a temp room so ill be in a little bit bigger room next grow ...thanks i almost forgot about a fan speed controler and all ..thanks you probably saved me a trip to the store or ordering it online
-
confidence booster 1st grow all input welcome
216 cubic feet so plug in the numbers:
216 / 5 = 44 (I'm rounding everything up) = air exchanged every 5 minutes
44 * 1.5 = 66 = one 90 degree duct elbow
44 * 1.3 = 58 = resistance of carbon filter
+ 44 = 10 feet of duct
+ 5 = +/- 10% for error
Add it up: 44 + 66 +58 + 44 + 5 = 217 CFM
You could add two more elbows and still get away with 340 CFM or go with a 440 for good measure and room for growth. How big is your next room?
-
confidence booster 1st grow all input welcome
my next room is 12.5 x12.5 x 9 foot ceilings---156 square feet 1406 cubic feet
i see the math u are doing still a little confusing but i havent really done math like that in 10 damn years:stoned:
1406 / 5 = 281 (I'm rounding everything up) = air exchanged every 5 minutes
281* 1.5 = 421 = one 90 degree duct elbow
281 * 1.3 =365 = resistance of carbon filter
+ 44 = 10 feet of duct
+ 5 = +/- 10% for error
Add it up: 281 + 421 +365 + 44 + 5 = 1116 CFM
if thats correct then i should just buy 2 One for over 1200 cfm and maybe keep the 8 in valuline 745 cfm running 2 ...Please correct me if i am wong:D
THOSE CEILING HEIGHTS may be between 7 1/2 to 9 i cant remember off the top of my head
