Washington State needs more vounteers for 1068
If you live in Washington state, then please help with initiative 1068 signature gathering. I volunteer every saturday at my local farmers market collecting signatures to put full legalization on the ballot. It's fun and people thank us for being there. We only have six weeks left to collect over 100,000 signatures and we really need to get into those cities that don't have a representative. This is the biggest chance we've had yet and it would be a pity to not make it on the ballot. Check out sensiblewashington.org and contact or become an area coordinator.

I wholeheartedly believe your right...but, westnet just seized some petitions with many names on them with personal info....then claimed they didn't have them....
this has caused a chilling effect in wa. for voters...they don't want to be bullied by some out of control asshats trying to survive by stealing peoples property...
Have sensible wa. do something and maybe more will come to help...

If you're afraid of your government then something is wrong. I live in the same county that westnet operates and those guys scare the sh*t out of me. They operate on the same level as those Missouri cops, military strongarm tactics. Do you think that the black rights and women's movement didn't have their share of casualties? That is our motivation. This government belongs to us the people and we can also make laws. That is what we are doing. Oh no, westnet has a few names that they shamelessly stole from an initiative. There is nothing that they can legally do with those names. If you think your silence is necessary then they already won. Washington cannabis is us right now today. We will be legal again in November. With your help. Or not...

Because those signatures came from a dispensary, its logical for WestNet to assume that those signers were all patients. With those names, addresses, etc it gives them the potential to go after a possible 200 other people associated with the club and medical cannabis. You know, their sneak and peeks and other nefarious schemes to gather low hanging fruit. WestNet should suffer serious sanctions for the seizure of those petition signatures and the games and story changes they are coming out and up with.

Wow, weather was awesome today. Collected over two hundred signatures at the farmers market today! Please get out there and collect signatures. It's so easy and very rewarding. We are not on the ballot yet and there is less than a month to go. What more can I say?

I don't know why people in Seattle aren't gathering signatures at the Mariner's home games. Maybe they are but no one has stated such. A few thousand should be easily signed up there. I'm not in Seattle so I couldn't do it. Just a suggestion.

i would be willing to go out and gather signatures if there is still time left. i have already signed one sheet when i was up purchasing nutes at a shop, but would be willing to spend my time in my area. i know there is no one in my area collecting signatures and i know there would be quite a few people who im sure would sign that just dont know where to go.
also if i can collect signatures, do you have to collect them on 11x17 paper ONLY or can it be printed off on 8x11 standard paper, only reason i ask is that i dont have a printer that can do 11x17 paper. if you know where or how i can have the form printed off on 11x17 please let me know. also do you have to be a registered voter in order to volunteer?
if anyone who is doing this can get back at me as soon as they read this, it would be apreciated.

Just another of my opinions on this subject. If I-1068 doesn't get on the ballot because enough signatures haven't been collected, one should look no further then the initiative not being dreamed up or written long before January's announcement. It won't be the fault of those volunteers who gave it their best. But it will also be the failure of the judicial/executive branches and its participants to come to the reasonable and honest conclusion, based upon scientific evidence and not legalistic verbosity and gymnastics with the twisting of facts and truths based on racism, pseudoscience, and just plain voodoo biases that cannabis is, in and of itself, a harmless plant and herbal remedy.
And should it not get on the ballot, any attorney who does not take a medical cannabis defense pro bono nothing but another parasite feeding off of sick and disabled people. The same could also apply to recreational, non-violent users. :twocents:

Get on the sensible washington website and see where you can pick up some signature sheets near your area. If you're anywhere near Kitsap or Whatcom I could deliver some to you. Please only use the sheets that are printed for the initiative and provided by the 1068 folks. Remember every signature counts.

It's gonna be 75 degrees out there today. Apparently we still need 180,000 signatures with only three weeks to go. They're saying that all of the active volunteers will need to collect around 500 signatures a week to even have a chance. That's 10 to 20 hours a week in front of a high traffic area like Wal-mart Also, as of right now there will be NO paid signature gatherers to help us out in the last few weeks. So, that being said it is now completely up to us. I know I'm doing my part and I'm about to step it up even more this month. We are not out of this yet and it's looking pretty scary. See you all out there!

Is that 180K to just get on, or 180K with extra signatures to make sure it gets on? If its the former, the people of Washington State could be screwed for another couple of years of fighting to end this god damned madness.

we need more volunteers!!
people WANT to sign this, we just don't have the number of people necessary to make it available to everyone!
for anybody in clark county wanting to sign, i'll be out at the intersection in front of Trader Joe's (on Chaklov/112th) this saturday (6/19) and sunday (6/20), from 11am until 4pm collecting signatures. we will also be out on thursday (6/17) at the whole foods on mill plain and 164th, from 5:30-7:30pm.
you don't need to be a smoker to realize that our current practices aren't cutting it, and the hundreds of thousands in prison for non-violent drug charges are evidence of this broken system.
we need to do what we can to end antiquated laws. tell your friends and family--spread the word!!

Hey all,
Volunteers at SensibleWashington had an AMAZING idea to aid our fight in CANNABIS LEGALIZATION for Washington state: pay for a print ad in Seattle's "The Stranger" weekly newspaper, with a copy of our petition inserted with the advertisement.
80,000 copies of "The Stranger" are picked up by people EACH WEEK! Just TWO signatures on EACH copy distributed would be enough to ensure I-1068's place on our November ballot! Great idea, huh? :D
What we need in order to do this, all you "armchair warriors," are DONATIONS!! Printing the ads and inserting 80,000 petitions is certainly not free (but I bet it would be much cheaper if using HEMP paper...)!
https://sensiblewashington.org/donate/
It's an easy way to help out, every little bit (even $5) helps, and you can do it from the privacy of your home. It's a secure site, and they accept Visa or MasterCard. They've got $100 of my money, and I'm an unemployed student.
If you feel uncomfortable listing your employer, enter that you're "unemployed," because I don't think it'll be accepted if left blank. (If anyone finds out otherwise, let me know!)
Thanks for any and all help you can lend!

We're only $265 away from our goal! :)
Donations must be made by 4pm today, as this is when "The Stranger's" deadline is.
Thanks, if you've chipped in already!

Our goal for donations was reached and exceeded!! :D
Sensible Washington will have a full page advertisement, with a petition inserted, into 80,000 copies of next week's edition of The Stranger. The Stranger is a weekly, free, alternative newspaper distributed in Seattle. Check them out: The Stranger - Seattle's Only Newspaper
Thank you for anyone who was able to donate (or wanted to, but was unable to). :)

joshdub--Even medical patients in our state are NOT fully protected by the ambiguous laws we have in place. They still need to be lawered-up in order to avoid harassment and waste-of-time legal matters which arise. The change in law that I-1068 proposes will better protect documented medical users, as well as undocumented medical users.
Just because I can't get a card (because I can't afford to go get a piece of paper with my name on it, nor do I have a documented pain disorder), does NOT mean that when I use it I'm not medicating myself. :)
The point is: IT SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN MADE ILLEGAL IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Hey all,
This Friday (6/25), we'll be outside the Washington State Democratic Convention from 10am until 2pm collecting signatures. We may have volunteers who are able to be there later than 2pm; I'll keep this post updated. The address for where this day of the convention will be held is: 301 W 6th Street, Vancouver, WA 98660.
On Saturday (6/26), the convention continues at the Clark County Fairgrounds Events Center, located at: 17402 NE Delfel Road, Ridgefield, WA 98642. We will have volunteers present from 7:30am until late afternoon (convention does not have a set end-time).
Our FINAL DAY FOR GATHERING SIGNATURES to secure I-1068 a place on November's Washington state ballot is SUNDAY, JUNE 27th! We're planning on spending the last day gathering signatures at Esther Short Park in downtown Vancouver, outside the Farmer's Market.
ALL SIGNATURES MUST BE SENT IN ON MONDAY, JUNE 28TH!
Thank you to everyone in Clark County who made it out to our collecting site last weekend! :D
Be an active member in the political process and your community--send your friends and family our way this coming weekend!

How many did you get this week-end? Its time we started hearing more numbers from sensible to see where we really are. If this fails, it will be one of the greatest travesties in Washington State history. Keeping people enslaved to an out of control legal system in regards to cannabis is unconscionable. The science proves the naysayers wrong. Time to give up the myths and really deal with the realities of cannabis. .
-

On Saturday we collected 65 signatures, and Sunday we managed 50. We also registered quite a few voters!
The numbers aren't huge, but I'm pretty impressed by them, considering people wanting to sign were required to pull into the parking lot, park, and walk down to the sidewalk. And, it was raining on Sunday, with far less traffic on the road than usual (Father's Day).
If we could've counted the numerous honks, smiles, waves, thumbs-ups, and cheers from all those passing by, but who had no time to stop, we would've easily been into the triple-digits. :D
The response from passersby was overwhelmingly positive! Only a few people wagged the "finger of shame," the bird, or shook their heads at us while mouthing "no." I found that those negative responses made me a little peppier, and forced me to smile a little bigger. :)

I-1068 has now been endorsed by the Washington state Democrats, in a 314 to 185 vote! Read more about it here: Washington State Democrats Endorse I-1068 | Sensible Washington

Well, with the paid signature gathers defrauding petition signers, if we make it, I'll give you the information on how to register to vote in Washington and get you and absentee ballot. Of course, I'll fill it it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just kidding of course, that's a crime, just like misguiding voters signing petitions. Its called fraud and they should disqualify that petition as one way of stopping that bs. Rough road amigo. :D

RedLocks--Thank you for your support of what our state is trying to accomplish. It's nice to read statements like yours from people living in different regions. :D
gypski--Apparently, there is no law requiring signature gatherers to be truthful in what they tell signers. I completely agree that the jackasses responsible for defrauding our supporters should have the hammer come down on them, but at this point those paying for signatures deny any wrongdoing--and good luck proving their trespasses. It pisses me off that there's no oversight, but I just hope that OUR integrity and consistency will be rewarded. :)
I sent in the final batch of signatures we'd collected; now it's time to hope for the best, wait and see.

Washington State needs more vounteers for 1068
hey all, i hope we make it!!! i just sent my petitions in saturday. i was only able to collect 100 sigs, in two days, but i am happy that i was able to help out atleast for what i could. i know it wasnt alot of sigs but i still felt good about what i did. and people realy apreciated me being out there volunteering my time so that there voices get heard too. i realy enjoyed doing this, as i met some realy cool people who chatted with me for a few minutes about the obvious topic and there feelings on it. it was even funny to me meeting the few people who were highly against it. i can recall one elder man, who apeared to be a nice normal elder, wearing a veitnam vet hat saying "hell no, dont you see the hat im wearing, i think we should get rid of all who do smoke that shit"...i couldnt help but laugh as his wife was wearing a "peace, love, happiness" shirt. when the gentlemen came back out of the store, i couldnt help myself. i said "sir, so let me get this straight, your more for fighting a war that will only beget more violence and never end, opposed to fighting a war that brings peace?" i said, "its funny, seems your wife feels different(pointing at her shirt), you two must get along real well." she just looked at me as if she was in complete shock, and he had nothing to say.
my point is, when are people going to realize that this government of ares doesnt want to fight a war that brings happiness, they only want to beget more violence, its there way of controling who has the power in this world. it will never end and we will always be fighting unless we start fighting for peace. and one way to start as we all(my fellow ganja lovers:D) know it, is to begin with legalizing MJ....its a damn herb, not a drug.

G13budsmoker--Every signature helps! Thank you for lending your time to this, and for having good conversations with those against it. I like that you pulled the wife's shirt into your reply, because glaring contradictions like that shouldn't go unmentioned. It's not always easy standing up for yourself (and others), especially face-to-face with someone who is so misinformed. Good job!
gypski--Again, thank you. I haven't met very many people as enthusiastic as I am, but am hoping that this particular cause pulled that trait out of more people. :)
