Super Small G-13 DWC

Well, I've been bored, so here it is............




I have started a very small (< 1/2 gal.) DWC. I started a hopefully female G-13 seed in a 1.5" rockwool cube. It is in a 3" net pot with hydroton. The nutes are General Hydroponics Maxi-Series. It breached the service on the 21st so that's when I decided to say that it started. Once the little one develops more roots I will be transplanting it into a hempy system. Don't ask why the transplant from one system to the next, I have no idea, lol. As of now, it is growing on 2 30w CFL(6500k) and one 13w CFL(6500k). The 13w is because my box has 3 sockets and I only had 2 bulbs. I plan on getting 3 NEW 6500k either 30w or atleast 23w. For flower, going to with with the most wattage that fits in there. We shall see what happens.

Haha, that's cute. Always wondered about something like that little DWC. And the transplant...should be interesting.

I wanted to transplant into hempy due to the 'no moving parts' part of it. No buzzing, but I might just get a larger airstone so it is quieter. Wee shall see. The tap root has been in the water for about 3 days now, and now they rest are just about there. We shall have some fun watching this little girl.



BTW the seed is not from any bank or anything, just from a really nice G13 nugget. It was one of 2 that I had found out of my friends OZ. So we shall get some niceness.

I'd suggest you go with 2700K for flowering. It has more red then the primarily blue 6500k. :thumbsup:

Plus keep in mind that you found seeds in buds grown locally I assume. So, the pollen that fertilized that bud came from a male flower. It may have been from a hermi flower ON one of the G-13 females, but it might not have either. Therefore you may have a cross of G-13 and something else.

After that you should read a little about G-13. I got a clone of this "famous" plant last month. THEN I read about it on line. Turns out no one is really sure this strain ever really existed at all. So, I called the place where we bought it and they said it was a G13 crossed with Afgani, Bought from a seed bank as such. This tells me what I bought is likely pretty good, but no one can be 100% sure it's REALLY G-13 at all.

At this point G-13 is thought to be a name you can stick on some unknown random bud that's been well grown. Know body will know any better as this is an unconfirmed strain. So who can really argue it's not G-13? Even if they say they had G-13 and it wasn't like this before, who's to say THAT was really G-13?

Anyway, looks good. Just thought I'd throw that at you.:D

I get what you are saying, but we know it's indoor and they are growing multiple strains, but that's all we know. These guys are turning out amazing buds, consisting of the following strains so far:

-GDP
-OG Kush
-Kush
-Afgani x Kush
-Juicy Fruit
-the previously stated G-13
-Trainwreck
-Purple Urkle(which makes me think their GDP is 'their' GPD, not from seed, seeing as its Purple Urkle x OG Kush)


I think that's it. But these have been coming in pretty consistently, so I think the growers got it down. So seeing as it is all the same grower, and all the plants are nice, lol, I really don't care what exact strain it is, just know its a G13 crossed with one of the above. Should be nice.

Oh, and yes, this is not my first grow, I know about the 2700k, but thanks for the tip.

Here's a pic of day 7. Just changed the water (gotta love having less than a gallon res, super easy to change). This weeks ratio is 3/4 tsp/gal. of the MaxiGro. Oh and it's a 3" net pot for reference.

Nice looking Box setup you got there. Im working on Cardboard box right now. I have too many plants haha. Im curious tho, how do you set up the pc fans like 120mm or 80mm pc fans to work with the box. How are your temps and do you plant on topping her..hopeing for a her lol. Cant wait for the next few weeks to pass to see how she turns out. Keep it going.

Glad there are so many people watching. Thanks, I like this box as well. The fan is just an 80mm hooked up to a cellphone charger. Cellphone charger because it is a contained DC adapter which gives about 5.6v making the fans nice and quiet. I had/have a 12v adapter, but its annoyingly loud. The intake is the width of the box by 3" covered with pantyhose, keeps the hair out. I plan on FIM'ing her once, then topping those. Hopefully ending up with 8 main/top colas.

Should be fun.

Oh, expect pictures once a week, had a pic everyday for the first week. Now just once a week. Going to flower at week 3 I believe, but who knows yet.

Interesting, lol that easy. Im very excited to make this grow cab. I feel that I have a nack for Cardboard and ducktap lol so this will be fun. I got my white Primer Paint and Some Contruction glue. Gonna go all out with this badass box.

Fimm then Top?
Maybe you ment top then fimm. either way lol, good ideas. The fimm is usually what u do about 5 days into flower and it will just make the top grow 2-4 main buds bud I dont think iv herd of then topping a fimm b.c that would take out the point of a fimm haha. :stoned: too early to be blazing and coming on here hahah.

I get what you ment tho. Good Idea. Remeber tho when u do these things, they set you back some time. Fimming usually sets yo back about a week, same as supercropping, babies need to heal up. Best of luck to ya and thanks.

FIM'ing I'm pretty sure you can do at anytime during the process (I prefer veg to not hermie) which will then create the 4 shoots(FIM'ing referring to the process of removing 80% of the new growth) then, once she has recovered(hopefully a week or so) I will top the 4 new growths. Making them 8 new growths. I don't know what you mean by not getting that? I think I had it pretty spot on. Who knows. Anyways, looked at her today, nothing but positive. These nutrients are extremely easy to deal with, and so far, I have not had to do anything, seeing as my water is well water (have fish, done all the test already) with slight hardness (VERY slight) and the nutrients so far with the doses I have given(3/4 tsp/gal. max so far) it lowers the pH to around 6.8 so I imagine when the time comes to add the maximum 1 1/2 tsp/gal. the pH will still be no problem. We shall see.

Yeah, lol, I was like maybe I am too high, but I thought it made sense, anyways, I would remove all other bud growth other than the hopefully 8 top colas. This, all under around 5000 lumens/sq.ft. in just under a sq.ft. I hope it turns out nice, I am working on a carbon filter now. Hopefully going to have this done in 3 months exactly, but who know if the tricomes will let it happen.

Well I'm bored and decided to take some pictures. I like the way this grow is going, by far the healthiest I have grown so far. She is 10 days old here. She's starting to suck the juices up like crazy now, Already had to refill the res with plain water due to her eating it all up.

Fat Ass Leaves bro. Looking to be IndicaDom. WOOT. haha. Lovin ur DIY DWC. I bet thats so easy to change out and move around lol. Man I should give that a try. Around where I live the pet stores have circular air stones that would fit literally right inside that size container. I think I might just try this one day.

I dont the bubble cloner. 100% success every cute i took. Ive tried dirt lol. Now its on the bubbleponics. Keep her going.

Yeah, I have seen the airstones, they seem awesome, but I just needed oxygenation, so $0.89 works for me. lol. This thing is coming along so fast, can't wait for another week or 2 to start the flowering.

Here's the pics from today, FIM'd her last night she hasn't shown signs of digress, so all's well that looks well, lol. This is day 12 and as a reminder, the net pot is 3" in dia.

Forgot to mention, the leaves look a little funny, but just in form, they are growing fine. I don't know if its just the seed, but if anyone has seen my last grow, you'll know I don't mind growing an oddball.

Here's some more pics of her. Her leaves had grown out and I was not satisfied with the FIM so I took a little bit more off the top. Now it looks in great shape. Just did nutrient change and shes up to 1 tsp/gal. of the MaxiGro. Next week is the last week of veg for her, then its off to the transition. Already have 6 23w CFL 2700k so I'm going to throw 3 of those in once it is time which will give me around 4,800 lumens/sq.ft. but the important part is that the are is only a 10"x10" so proportionately(12"x12"=144sq.in., 10"x10"=100sq.in., 44sq.in/144sq.in.=.30=30% less area, meaning the light would be 30% more intense in the area making the 4800x1.3=6528 lumens/sq.ft.). Right now she is going off of 2 30w 6500k CFL and 1 14w 2700k just for the spectrum. Here's the pics.

looking good C! i've recently purchased an airpump, line and stone to oxygenate my water/nutes (due to some things i've read and i'm just a curious individual...which often gets me in trouble! lol). i might however, use it for a little DWC as well.

Thanks for stopping by shake, yeah I haven't found anything I don't like about this here DWC yet, and don't think I will. I'm going to get a bigger airstone so that it decreases the sound a bit.

Here's an update:

Only been one day, but lots of progress, with these DWC set-ups it doesn't stop speeding up growth. Everyday its grown more than it did the day before, its crazy. The roots have literally increased by 75%. Stem has thickened by a good 25% and the secondary growth is giant compared to last night. Take a gander. Oh and the FIM'ing seemed to work, there seems to be at LEAST 6 nodes emerging from the top of the plant now. Its still a little confusing in there, but there's gonna be a good amount of tops to this girl. I don't think I'm going to need to top her anymore, at least not for awhile, gonna see if she wants to get any taller, might take one bulb out for a couple days to encouraging stretching, or just add more 2700k bulbs rather than the two 6500k. What do yall think.

Do you mean height wise or temp wise? For height, its about 24" tall, and temps, doesn't get passed 75*F, its in my closet and it has a window in it, so I vent the whole room outside, this is also where I smoke, lol.

Here's an update from day 24. Still a little confusing up top, just a bunch of growth and such, pretty indistinguishable as of now. There's a shot of her underside, she's getting fat. Looking nice. Going to be some nice stuff.

Here's some new pics from day 27.

I ended up topping her, the FIM for some reason didn't do anything, weird. I must have missed it by a bit, or something, I don't know, but the topping has, the 2 secondary growths are emerging and the top of the plant is not. Here we go.

You can see in the picture of her underneath that I have been trimming up a bit, took off I think 3 sets of fan leaves and let the secondary growths keep going, the leaves were just getting too big, didn't want all that energy going to those leaves.

I am going to throw it into transition nutrients tomorrow, need to build my carbon-filter very soon.

Id wait to clip anymore fan leaves for a few reasons. Clipping will stress your plant a bit which can cause grow the slow down. Your baby is young and right now explosive growth is occuring esp with your DWC. People use the excuse that the leaves are in the way or not getting any light so I should just clip them off. Thats actually a bit wrong. You want as many leaves as you can get and keep threwout the whole grow. They are the plants energy source. If the leaf is not getting enough light or has become useless to the plant it will wilt up and fall off. Lower leaves will usually do this as they are older and as the plant grows it utulizes the upper grow more and does get rid of lower leaves. Clipping isnt a 100% nono, i do clip, but usually I wait until the leaves just yellow and i can tug really gently and they fall right off.

Also just wanted to point out. Now that you have topped your plant, the hormone that normaly causes the main stem to keep going up is rerouted into those few nodes below so you dont really need to worry about the plant wasting energy. Less stress = less hermies = GOOD.

Didnt want to do anything but give you food for thought. Iv found that you really do want to leave the large fan leaves on as they provide the juice for that perticular nodes branch. Iv clipped the fan leaves on one plant all on the right side, so only fan leaves on the left side, and the branches on the left grow much more with many more nodes and the buds were fuller and larger as well than on the right side. Tuck the leaves in behind if you feel that they are in the way. HOpe this helps.

K, sounds good to me, yeah I wasn't going to go crazy witht hte clipping, just wanted the first couple nodes to be fan leaf free. Due to the size of my box, I can only have so much in there, and when the upper nodes get larger and I have to LST them, I need some room there. I wasn't planning on taking anymore leaves off for awhile, she needs to get up there a bit. Can't wait for next week or so.

Well, she's starting to flower. As of now she is in her new transition mixture of 1 tsp. MaxiBloom and 1/2 tsp. MaxiGro and is in the dark till tomorrow at midnight-ish. I have been building my carbon filter today, just need to find a panty hose, probably going to the store tomorrow, and then about another 20 minutes of tinkering and then it should be done. Will take pics tomorrow.

I have changed the timer so that she is on from 9pm to 9am so tomorrow when she goes off I will unplug the light until the day after tomorrow sometime after 9am so that when 9pm comes around, the timer will turn the light on.

She's doing nicely, got a funk to her in one night. My carbon filter was too restricting so gotta make a new one, haven't been able to get one right so far, lol. Anyways, will take pics next time the lights are on.

Here she(hopefully, no signs of sex yet) on her second day of flowering. Smells rank and looks amazing. You can see where I topped it she has developed three tops. There's a shot of her undercarriage also, looking nice, stretching a bit, no complaints here. Really just can't wait to see sex.
