Hey guys, I was thinking about this earlier. Why is it we smoke pot? Is it a form of laziness? All the effects and feelings we get from smoking can be achieved w/o smoking. Happiness, relaxation, etc. I don't know, just something to think about I guess. I'm gonna smoke a bowl and ponder.
It mellows me out, if i didn't have pot i would be a stressed out asshole.

I know what you mean bro, but at the same time...there are lots of ways to mellow out besides smoking bud. I mean, are pot smokers just lazy "average" lifers. Does that make sense?

Lol, no I was sober for the last week. (I was in the hospital). Think about it though, yeah...you can get real hungry all of a sudden for no reason sober. And even if you didn't, why would you want to? You don't crave food unless you're hungry, therefore why would one want to be hungry?

No, I'm not talking about a specific "High." The affects of the high are what make the high the high. (lol). These include, happiness, relaxation, etc. These can be achieved by means other than smoking? So why is it we smoke, because we're too lazy to acheive them by other means?

November, 1968. It was unlike anything I'd experienced before, and I liked it a lot. I was an aspiring musician, and soon found myself listening to all kinds of music I'd never been interested in before, especially symphonic and acoustic guitar. Started as an attempt to learn more about music in general, but that led to enjoyment and a higher level of open mindedness. I found that the increased interest led to more focused and intensified efforts in my creative work, which yielded a lot of satisfaction, which intensified my interest, etc. It also seemed that there were a lot more creative and interesting people in the subculture, and that widened my social horizons as well. I guess I'm saying that getting stoned was a catalyst for positive changes in my development, especially as an alternative to drinking.
Now, years later, all the same reasons apply, plus all the positive associations connected, conscious and otherwise. The aroma is now as pleasant to me as the way your house smells when there's a turkey, roast, bread, etc. cooking in the oven. I freed myself from connections with dealers many years ago; grow my own, and have no desire to either buy or sell. I like the independance that gives me, and enjoy the gardening too.

I think the effects of marijuana are pretty unique, myself. Its pretty simple, I smoke marijuana because I like it. I'm lazy, but I've always been that way. I'm not apathetic, and I don't need pot to survive. Its just nice, I don't see why people overcomplicate it.

I smoke marijuana because i cannot deal with reality and the stresses of life. I use marijuana to mask my depression, to deal with work when i really cant deal with being there, and to sleep at night because otherwise i would toss and turn and not sleep. I was diagnosed bipolar, and my lithium levels were super low, i was put on lithium, and then a higher dose, and a higher dose, depression took the better part of 3 years of my life. I dont know why there is all this arguement. Its quite fuckin obvious weed has a mental affect otherwise why would so many people do it? Its the fact that weed provides a feeling like no other. I smoke weed because it makes me feel better. It also helps me get away from this shit world even if for a little while. Appreciate being stoned instead of bitching at each other over such simple matters...

I smoke weed because it helps me relax and put things into perspective, sometimes i dont realise how much of a stress head i'm being untill i smoke a spliff and chill out and think about stuff :rolleyes: . The thing i really love about weed is it just keeps giving, you can smoke it everyday for a month and stop the next day and you wont feel any nasty side effects or cravings (cept a little trouble sleeping maybe). Dosnt work like that with many drugs thats for sure.
