Actually yams are not sweet potatoes. They are totally different produce although people confuse them all the time.
yams are used frequently in west indian cookery very nice with goat rice and peas..

Bubble n' squeak for those who don't know, is a dish of leftover mashed potatoes and vegetables ~ made into rounds, dusted with seasoned flour and fried on a hot pan with butter :p very tastey :)
