Time for 12/12 , little hash plant bushes :)
Well I desided to start up a grow log for my little hash plants.
I got throught the vedge with a bit of LST and a lot of training. They ve grown into these insane little bushes . They're only about 12" but just cramed full of nodes.
This is my first indoor grow, so Im going to need all the help I can get. Ive already gotten all the knowledge I have from this site :)
We're just one week in to 12/12 now. 5 confirmed females / 4 males have already been pulled, and one plant left to show sex
(the biggest one of course )
Here are some pics

you might need to upload them to a free image host till you have over 50 posts, FYI

This is an Unruly little bitch ;) It grew SO compact its been a headache to try and get it opened up a bit to get light to all those nodes.

bottom right is the tallest plant so far, but has still not shown sex. The plant behind (topRight) is the most mature female , she sowed pre flowers almost 2 weeks ago, and is a healthy little bush :)

Do you guys have any sugestions to get these little bushes to fill in the grow canopy better. They have so many nodes, but are so compact Im worried they a lot of those potential buds arent going to 'see the light '
Thanks All

you could try raising your light a bit, that will cause the plants to stretch out for light. or - you could add 2700k bulbs and that will have the same effect
-
Time for 12/12 , little hash plant bushes :)
yea I think im going to raise the light to help bring the temps down for sure. I suppose that would force them to strech a bit more as well.
Thanks

OK I raised the light to about 22" from to tops. I all so cut a new intake hole in the side of the wall next to the plants. I dont have a dedicated fan for it yet but will soon.
I could already tell this morning in the room , the air just felt fresher and cooler. This all so brought the temp down to a steady 80*
As well, the biggest plant I've confirmed to be female as well . So thats great . 6 females !

what do you guys think about transplanting in to 3 gallon pots. Looks like the are going to need the extra room ?
What do you think ?
-
Time for 12/12 , little hash plant bushes :)
Hey JJ, looking good. Those pots look pretty big that they're in. I'm just over 4 weeks into vegging some WW that i've lst'd. I guess they'll be pretty similar in size to yours in a couple of weeks, mine are in 6 litre pots at the moment and i'm planning to finish in 11 litre (2.5 gallon) pots.

Yea, I didnt want to have to transplant half way through flowering, so I went in to even bigger pots a few days ago , 3 gallon to finish in.
They definatly appreciated the new room, a few of the plants put on a good 5 inches of growth in one night, ...crazy this strech period is :)
A few of them have not really streched much yet but Im sure they will .
Ill post some new images tonight.
Thanks

well i gave the problem plant a full flush last night, Hope it helps out the leaves were still all so so curly , and it wasnt showing any signs of improvment after the replant.
Hope it gets better , it looks like it could be a great yeilder.

What do you all think about throwing a Screen over the canopy and scroging from this point ?
Never done it before , but read of a method from seed, where once the males are removed for certian, they are then put under a screen ?
Any opinions ?

Im thinking about picking up a bottle of this Liquid Light stuff I keep hearing about ....
what do you think ?
-
Time for 12/12 , little hash plant bushes :)
I think that I am looking forward to the time lapse photos you'll be posting, showing exactly what happened when you applied Liquid Light. (please)
Your plants are certainly looking better now than at the beginning of this thread. They used to look sad and droopy, not anymore. Keeping your grow in the low 80s and putting the plant in larger pots are two huge steps in the right direction.
A screen will help, no doubt. I use screens and wouldn't want it any other way. Not only do they help to support the branches when they get heavy, but they help to spread out the buds so that light can get to everything instead of just the top of the canopy. Here's my latest screen grow: http://boards.cannabis.com/indoor-gr...-training.html

Do you this I'll need the Penetrator as well, thats another $50 ...??
Your thread is what got me excited about this liquid light stuff. Since I'm almost 2 weeks into flower, how long into flower have you safely applied it ?
And yea Im definatly going to go with the screen this weekend, what do you sugest for screen material ?
Thanks :)

Well I hope it's not too late, but whatever you do, don't use common poultry netting, or chicken wire. I like the fencing or that has 2x3 inch holes much better. Poultry netting has 1x1.5 inch holes, and the buds don't always fit through them. It also has hundreds of little poking wires, ever ready to scratch you.
I know it's expensive, but Penetrator is the key. Some say it's more important than the Liquid Light. I use them at half strength, which seems to be more than plenty, and of course that cuts down on cost.
I've used it as late as week 5 of flowering. Just depends on humidity and stuff. Don't let buds grow around moisture.

well my small little local hydro store dosent carry liquid light :( He said they could order it , but would take a few weeks, by that point Ill be too far into flowering to apply I think ...SORRY OPIE
The screen didnt work out either, I spent half the day yesterday making one with a frame and some gardners twine. I was pretty proud of it
The plants are just far to compact already though, I placed the screen over the garden, and there was just NO room at all ..just to awkward at this stage I think ...
SO after 2 dissapintments, I made a bunch of Hooks and trained the crap out of them last night :) It actually filled in the grow space very well, and I can still manouver around the plants, or remove them for watering/ flushing if I need.
http://img395.imageshack.us/img395/3...2211ie8.th.jpg
These are the hooks I made, just bamboo squewers with coat hanger hooks taped to the end. They ended up working GREAT for training and controling the plants.

They are taking well to the training, looks almost like a scrog ....but i need more hooks ;)
Im thinking about thining out the leaves a bit to open things up ...what do you think ?

Looking real good JJ, like you said the canopy almost looks like a scrog. Pruning the plants seems to be effective in improving yield from what I've read, just started doing a little the last couple of days (I've just started 12/12) I've cut off the bottom growing shoots that aren't gonna get much light and some of the lower leaves that are looking pretty dead.
-
Time for 12/12 , little hash plant bushes :)
I would not cut anything off your plants. I never do unless there is a leaf shading a bud, and I just can't bend or tie it out of the way. Another option is to top, but you only do this if you want more bud sites, and shorter, bushier plants. Seems like you already have enough bud sites. If you have more, they will be smaller and yield about the same.
I'm glad you found something that works for you, but I'm sad you have to make more skewers. From your pictures I don't see why a screen wouldn't work, then you could make a nice even carpet of buds and get the most from your lights. For watering the plants in the back, you could have a funnel attached to some tubing. Once the plants grow around the screen you can't really take them out, but this has never been a problem for me.

Thanks, I do enjoy being hands on with them and using the stakes, but its a lot of work ;)
I 've pulled down and opened up more of the branches to light, how long should I continue to stake the branches down ?
Is there a point when it becomes counter productive ? In looking back at my past photos, I think Ive gone from about 15-20 bud sites exposed to direct light to over 100, will all these buds still develop ?
Im sure Ill be using a screen in my future grows though, who knows I might try and place this one I built in there again this weekend

It's up to you, but the longer you veg the more you'll yield. I like to fill in my screen as much as possible, or in your case I'd like to fill up the canopy area as much as possible, which looks like you've pretty much done. I try to fill in my screen about 75% before switching to flower mode. There is no one right way to do it. It's just what works for you. Eventually there will be no more room for any new shoots. Remember that once you switch to flowering, a plant can double or triple in size.
Is there a point when it becomes counter productive ?
Yes, it would be counterproductive if you already have a thick even mat of canopy, and there would be no place for any new nodes, or shoots. It would also be counterproductive after a few weeks into budding. Once she starts budding up good, you should stop bending or tying down branches.
I think Ive gone from about 15-20 bud sites exposed to direct light to over 100, will all these buds still develop ?
That's the idea, expose more of the plant to the light and you'll get more bud sites. Id say 100 is probably enough. You can make as many as you want, but the more there are the smaller they'll end up. All bud sites exposed to light will develop, but the ones lower down on a stem develop slower and end up smaller than the ones at the top.

Thanks for the awnsers Opie .
I figure since Im now in to about 2 weeks budding, and the canpoys lookin good, Im going to stop heavy training and focus on keeping the foliage out of the way ( not cut , yet ;)
Ill take more images this weekend with progress.

heres where we 're at as of today. Had a bit of an accident this morning and left the incand. light bulb on in the room for a few extra hours.....:wtf:
So i hope i didnt fuck everything up, this is the frst time i've ever interupted the light cycle, and it was only a 60w incand bulb at least 8' from the plants.
anyways, they have taken to to the training well and are budding up good now :)

What do you all think about adding a few warm CFLS in with the plants to get light to the underside ?

hey all ,
just about to turn the lights on , thought Id post some new pics tonight,
Tonight is 28 days in flowering. I pulled a lot of the stakes and moved some things around to give the plants more room it was getting pretty crowded.
thanks for the support :)

the lite green one in front row right has been a problem for a while now, I cant figure out how to make her as healty as her sis's.
I flushed her last night and she seems a bit happier...don't know ..?
[attachment=o189158]
these plants are stocky little fu*kers, the buds are getting thick already just because the distance between the nodes was SO small, like 1/4 " in a few places !
[attachment=o189159]
[attachment=o189160]
Thats it for now, looks like another good 4 weeks of budding for sure....:)
