2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
2nd grow
northern lights
age: 10 weeks
currently in 3rd week of flowering
height: 5' 2" from soil
temp: 30-34 deg C (average) with light on. 26-28 deg when off.
humidity: approx. 60%
soil used: started with fox farm ocean forest, at week 5 switched to general hydroponics bio-biz all-mix (organic).
fertilizer: fox farm grow big 6-4-4 (during veg) and fox farm tiger bloom 2-8-4 (during flowering). also used fox farm organic big bloom .01-.3-.7 (during both)
this is the female monster plant! it is very healthy and at the bottom has about a 3/4" stem thickness. during vegetation it was on an 18-hr cfl and fluorescent blue spectrum light (500w) and 6 hours of red 1000w HPS. just began some low-stress training in order to spread out the lower branches and get more light to as many leaves and bud sites as possible. here are some pictures for your enjoyment. please put in some feedback/comments/recommendations!

here are some pics of the clones and 1 more of the mother that didnt fit in last post. the 4 clones are approx 4 weeks old and seem to be doing great. currently under 24 hrs of 250w fluorescent light. definite new growth on all. about to add another 250w fluorescent for the clones. enjoy! :stoned:

another note: this plant has been pruned regularly. most older large leaves(almost all fan leaves before flowering) have been removed to allow for more light penetration to lower branches. this is my 1st time pruning to this extent. So in case you're wondering that is why the plant may seem low on leaves. with out pruning i can say with out a doubt it would look like one solid mass.
also, if you find bluntmaster430's previous grow log,the first grow was a struggle. managed around 40 grams dry from one. but lost multiple plants to problems. I am happy to say that this grow has been different. not one health issue, no yellowing, and no spots.
I thought this plant may have been stretched because it was so tall, but the girl never looked lanky before I pruned her and the 100w HPS has never been more than 12 inches above her, nor was the 500w fluorescent ever more than 2-3 inches above. (often I would find her growing into the light she was so close.)
anyways is a 5 ft tall indica normal?
lastly the next plan is to take the best clone and veg her in the current clone closet. after flower is complete on this one and the other 3 (which i plan on flowering soon) want to take 30 clones from the mother and do a 1 light soil tray system like tranoble did in his sealed grow room post. planting all of the 6in apart and flower after only 5 days of veg. producing 30 short plant roughly 3 ft in height.

LAME does anyone actually care here?

2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
heard of the term "size queen"? well i have determined that most people on this forum are strain queens. as soon as less common strain is posted people rush to comment. but as for on here well we can see no one has anything useful to say huh?

2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
pictures of 3 clones in their 3rd week of flowering. Their height at cutting ranged from 5-7 inches, and were about 10 inches each when put into flowering. their veg period was only about 5 days. now each is around 20 inches tall.
1 clone is in full veg 24/0 and has been topped once on the main stem and then again on its more prominent branches. Planning on being kept as a mother.
our flowering plant has stopped getting taller and quietly sits at 6ft 1in....it's in it's 6th week of flowering. the older larger leaves have definitely begun yellowing......

2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
That is a very tall plant for indoors. Nice

2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
Bluntmaster, if you can get that big tree into a bigger pot, it will thank you. That is quite yellow for this far from harvest- that looks like a pure or nearly pure sat, and will probably run another month at least! You can't afford to lose those leaves yet.
The others look good. Remember, one gallon of dirt per foot of main stem!

2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
stinky actually its northern lights ordered from www.
the clones which were taken from the 6 ft plant have the much large broader indica fan leaves....
i just got a fan on my 1000w hps and it is moving air out of the closet into the attic. so repotting though for sure, bummer haha lots of soil.

You are doing a good Job!!!! Ya i'm with the StinyAttic, Maybe So Maybe No, But I think the Seed's got mixed up??. That Tree You have there Has alot of Sativa, If not Pure. Still It will be some good Smoke, It's just Going to take 11 or more week's to Mature. Just don't get impatient and it will reward You!!!:stoned::stoned:
Good Luck!!~~~~~:smokin:

it was repotted today into a giant tub, pictures of the mother and babies will be up later today

2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
I agree with the others 'cuz that plant doesn't look like pure indica NL!:stoned:
Can I give you some helpful (I think) tips?
Your temps are too high. You said 30-34 C and that's up to 93.2 degrees F! Try to get those highs down to the 70s.
You'll want to get that humidity down as well soon. 60% later in flowering can reward you with moldy buds. :(
Also the pruning will only serve to slow flowering, and by the looks of that gal you could be in for 90 or so days!
One last thing, vegging for 7 weeks seems a bit overkill to me. Especially since it's a sativa dominant plant (according to appearance) you could have vegged for only four or so weeks with training and shaved some of your total time off without compromising yield.
Just my two cents.

2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
thanks for the advice man,
as of 3 days ago i now have a fan and ducting exhausting the hot air from my light into the attic. temps now are maxing out at around 30c with the door shut for 12 hours. if i open the door some or turn on the air its around 28c.
as for the plant all i can say is that the last one from the same pack of seeds was just under 3 feet tall and it was vegged for about 6 weeks, the leaves on the clones are very dark and broad ( these obviously have the same genetic make up as the mother).
2 things i have noticed.
1. since i have had lower temps the newer little leaves seems broader than when it was to hot.
2. this plant may be this tall because I kept the light pretty high due to heat. although this is a 1000w hps i still feel this lead to the plant stretching for light. this coupled with a long veg period and liberal use of ferts may have lead to the extream size. this plant was also never topped.
while this may not be pure indica, i do believe it's NL x with something probably a sativa. regardless im about to get new seeds soon any opinions? want something thats short stocky and potent. decent yield.

dude i wish i had a tree like that. put that thing in like a 10gal tub can you imagine what would happen lol

2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
as soon as the roommates done playing computer games im gonna load the newest pics.
last night we put the big one in a 10 gal tub.
also, put the 3 flowering clones into 2.2g pots previously they were in 2 liter pots (est.)

Aww yeah. Now THAT'S what I'm talkin about. Those wash tubs are great for big trees, especially with the built in handles, when it takes 2 people to carry the damn thing around!
I'm also wondering if you had a seed mix-up. When flowering is complete, compare the dates to the expected flower time as stated by the vendor, and if there is more than a couple weeks' difference, I'd send them a note requesting seed replacement in light of the fact that that doesn't look like NL, and NL is supposed to be pretty damn quick. Which means someone at the seed vendor was schmokin on da job that day, lol!
-
2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
alrighty, as for the website it says 7-10 weeks flowering and mostly indica for the NL seeds. the last one i thought was ready at 9 weeks but let it ride until ten because i didn't have a microscope.
but the treee def seems to love the extra rooom to spread its roots. wrong seeds or not, at least they ship and its pretty quick. NL was on sale so if recieved anything different it probably would have cost more anyways haha.
nothing to do now, i am pretty excited about the next order of seeds. might do ak-47, blueberry, or white rhino.....
and yes that tub is fun to move with 1 or 2 people..sike
more soon....

Lookin' good Blunt! I was gonna go with BM as an acronym but I'll stick with Blunt, you know, because of the whole poop thing. :)
Pretty sure we're not allowed to link to breeders/seed shops but I think it's all right to talk about them? (Stinky, if I'm wrong here, go ahead and delete this)
Anyway, Mandala Mike (and Jasmine) has received nothing but good reviews of hearty, potent, uniform plants throughout the line. That's where I'm off to next, probably grabbing some hashberry, satori, sadhu, and maybe some speed queen.
Also, their prices are about the same as anything from Nirvana (cheap!)
A google search will help find lots of info about Mandala Seeds.
(I'm not in any way affiliated with any seed banks/breeders, just relying on strong recommendations and amazing photos from many happy growers across the internet)

thanks simon, seems he's ill though (get well)
also any other good sites? i did see that other sites offer other breeders seeds but who to trust i don't knw.... also they must deliver to the medium sized continent immediately west of Europe.
blunt def works! you could just call me master...HAHA jk:jointsmile:

2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
ok so how about a watering question for you pros out there. i have 2 fets that can be used during veg. and 5 for flowering. they are as follows.
fox farm grow big (veg)
fox farm big bloom (organic used during both veg. and flowering.)
fox farm tiger bloom (flowering)
fox farm open sesame(flowering)
fox farm beastie bloomz(flowering)
fox farm cha ching(flowering)
while i have been mixing these up in separate containers and using them pretty liberally, i have always keep them separate. i was wondering if i should mix them together with they water in larger batches. i.e 1 for veg. containing both grow big ang big bloom. and one for flowering containing tiger bloom big bloom and one of the other (which ever it is time for(each of the last there are for early flowering, mid, and last respectively))
starting enjoy this forum more now thanks guys:stoned:

Do you have stock in Fox Farm or what, bud? :)
That's a ton of nutes, and that's fine (although not economical for me:smokin:)
I'm sure you could mix the (half strength each) grow big and big bloom, but the question is: why?
It sounds like you've got 'em separate and you're alternating products at feeding, which is exactly what I would do. I'm sure most would say the same, but maybe not.
However, I think you'd do just as well with only one or the other. Don't take my word for it though as I've never used FF nutes, do some more searching for those doing the full FF routine.
Personally I would do mini-experiments on a couple of plants of the same strain with different nutes to see exactly what results are more preferable, or just see what other FF people do ;)

2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
haha thanks man. i have been holding them separate since i started but i hate having like 6 jugs haha. anyways actually the hydro store i use i great they give me free shit all the time. thats how i got the nuts.
right now im mixing every feeding.
mother: gets food every other watering and is fed 3/4 grow big /water mixture 1/4 bigbloom/water mixture
clones in flowering: same (food every other watering) they are fed 4/10 water/tiger bloom/hygrozyme mixture, 4/10 water/open sesame mixture, and 2/10 big bloom organic/water mixture
the tree: same(food every other watering). also same as clones except they get 4/10 beastie bloomz instead of open sesame.
note: the clones and tree are moving up one notch in the flowering ferts. clones to beatie bloomz and the tree to cha-ching.
thats pretty much all.

2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
couple pictures.....
one is a picture of one of the 3 flowering clones. each are pretty much identical. 2ft 8 in tall.
the other are of the grow room.
is from outside. you can see 2 of the 3 clones(flowering) on the left and the tree on the right.
the other picture is of the light, the 6in inline fan, and 6in ducting that runs from the light into the attic.

Woowwww, lookin' good! I've got a BB that's stretchin like your gal there. Are you planning on potting up yet before you get too far into flowering? I think she might benefit from a 4-5 G. Is that a 1 gallon?
edit: Yeah, that third pic makes it clear you need to get some bigger containers! The general rule of thumb is 1 gallon of container space to 1 foot of plant height.
Remember, more root mass = more buds :)
-
2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
hmm you lost me?
the 6ft plant is in a 10 gallon tub
the other that are 2ft 10 in (there are 3 of them, all the same height) are in 2.2 gallon pots bought at a great store. they will be repotted into a 5 gallon this week so im not worried about pot space at all...
-
2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
Where did I lose ya? The one gallon per one foot rule?
I was just suggesting a bigger pot and you've got it planned and covered
-
2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
just which plant you were talking about. i looked at the picture. And i noticed the angles plays a little trick, makes the ones on the left look bigger than they are
-
2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
Holy cow there ARE two plants in that last picture! :stoned:
In the pics you put up today, the second or middle picture, the plant looks like it's got some deficiency issues. Give her a good flush and make sure the pH is in the correct range. It also looks like you might be feeding a bit heavy, judging by some of the tips. Again, this is the middle picture with the flex ducting
-
2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
actually it neither, it was rootbound for a little. but actually th burning is from touching the HPS light without a fan. the plant got to tall and my light cant go any higher like 8ft haha. so i just have to deal for now, theres nothing i can do. but since i got a fan its looking better
-
2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
ok so i have been foliar feeding the younger plants ever so often and they seem to be liking it. I spry just before the light is off (like 15 seconds). my question is, i would like to start doing this to the mother some. But i have her under 24 hour light (she was a clone) will the fluorescent and CFLs burn the leaves, cause i was told not to spray with the HPS lights on because it'll cause burn.
-
2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
I don't spray my gals with anything, and it seems like I remember you should foliar feed just before your lights come on. I could be way off though, so don't quote me on that!
I would think a way to get around the HID burning is to just move it up farther than your usual distance.
However, the CFLs won't burn the wet leaves.

2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
it's been a little bit since i posted, but here's the update.
all plants have been re potted :
3 clones in flowering- in 5 gallon pots. they're looking good and green(pics of these tonight)
mother is doing well in here own closet and 5 gallon pot.(pics tonight)
now for the issue at hand. As you can see i have a tree growing and its in the 7th week of flowering.it has been in a 10 gallon tub for a little while now(since i posted the re pot). I have included a picture of what has happened since i re potted.
all of the branches were developing flowers, then all of a sudden; about 5 days after re potting, each branch, began to grow. now from the spots where the buds were forming; the branch has seriously come out of the top with only a few calyx. never have i seen this in pictures or in any my previous flowering plants? WTF.
in the picture you will see a couple things 2 red lines; where the bud from that branch was filling. (all that is above the line just shot out leaving me scratching my head) and the blue circle is what the new leaves coming out at the bud sites look like. mostly single finger leaves?? WTF some times retarded 3 finger leaves with the center one being the a lot larger come in as well. almost all my branches have started doing this....
what is going out with this, i feel like i have been set back a month maybe more.
p.s. my flowering room is completely dark at night
-
2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
3 of a clone in flowering( they all look pretty much the same)
2 of the mother
-
2nd grow Northern Lights....mother of 4
The number of leaves it throws doesn't really matter. It looks like that is going to take FOREVER to finish if you're already at 7 weeks and it basically looks like a pre-flowering indica :stoned:
You're definitely going to go 7 more, maybe up to a total of 20!
Did you ever contact your seedbank and show them how much they fucked up?
