That's right. At 8am on Thursday morning I'm going to go and have all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out. Two are under the skin and two are above it.
I am being completely knocked out via IV. And the Dentist gave me...well lets just say something to relax me, for before I arrive.
This is going to suck.
p.s. I asked to keep my teeth :thumbsup:

But he's taking care of me. He bought gauze, pudding, jello, and soup for me.
Trust me i've had MUCH worse, i'm a cancer survivor.
I can do just about anything haha.
No but I can survive a cancer that only effects a few hundred children a year.
And I think thats more impressive.

i took all 4 of mine last year. two(bottom) where under my gums and not real stright
and the other two(top) were comin in at like a 45* angle into the teeth in front of it. so that was going to get pwned.
i was fucked for a day or 2 but after like a week and a half i was good
those iv sudates suck... i didnt know where i was for 2 more hours after i "woke" up good luck and make some spacecakes instead of smoking dont want a dry socket
Yeah that seems to be what everyone is telling me. After the surgery I plan on going to Rite-Aid and getting my pain killers, then I'm going home with John and I plan on sleeping. I guess i'll just have to take it easy and relax at home watching t.v. or something.Quote:

Well he's giving me a pill for before the surgery to relax me and then afterwards I get different pain killers for the pain. Oh, and he said I also get a few shots of novacane.Quote:

Hahah I know! 4 gaping holes. It's so gross haha. Luckily, the dentist said my risks of anything bad happening are less than 5%. He said since my sinuses are up so high I have no risk of hitting any important nerves. He said the worst that would happen would be temporary numbess for a few hours around my jaw.Quote:

My oral surgeon's name was Dr. Rog. It sounded to me like a caveman's name. I wondered if he was going to take my teeth out with an antler and a rock.
He told me to get all the stuff I was going to need before the surgery --- fill my prescriptions and buy some soft foods and an ice bag. I told him, "No, the reason I'm getting all this soft food is because I am getting my wisdom teeth removed on Friday."
He stopped right in the middle of scanning a can of Mariner's Catch and asked, "Did you just tell me, you're gonna be eating CAT FOOD because your getting our teeth pulled out?"
"Yeah, that's right. I can't go back on kibble for a week." Dumbass.
So on the day of ther surgery, the doctor explained that his anesthesia technique was called Twilight Consciousness. It wasn't a full-strength general anesthesia that totally knocked you out cold, because that takes too long to come out of. It wasn't just a local, because the patients tend to be a bit disturbed by the procedure if they are fully conscious. It was a combination. His technique used a small intraveneous dose of general anesthesia to temporarily knock you out, then a stream of nitrous oxide to keep you pretty much out until the end, then they would shut off the gas and I would come right out of it. Sounded good to me.
He put the IV needle in my arm and told me, "I want you to count backward from 100. You will go unconscious, and when you come out, this will all be over."
"One hundred. Ninety-nine, Ninety-eighhhhhhhh......."
I was out, but after a time I became aware of something happening. Some kind of motion. I thought, it must be over. I opened my eyes.
The surgeon had some kind of tool in my mouth! It looked like pliers! He was cranking my head back and forth, and twisting the pliers, and it looked like he was about to put his foot on my chin to brace for a big yank!
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! "
He signaled to the nurse! She did something to the IV and all went black....
When I came out of it, the doctor explained that things had gone a bit longer than expected due to some kind of problem with the roots of my tooth being entangled with other roots. I told him, "I think I remember something about the operation." He told me that I might have regained consciousness for a moment but they got me back under. To be honest, I never felt any pain, but it did freak me out a bit.
After that, I was on some good pain meds for a few days. They knocked back the pain very well, but they did also affect my judgement. At one point I was at a friend's house, and I picked up his cat, which I knew hated me from the time I had to sit on it and give it antibiotics. I just plain was not thinking because of the pain meds, and I was holding this cat out in front of me and strumming its belly with my fingers. All of a sudden it sunk both sets of front claws right into my scalp! I was so medicated that I didn't even feel the pain, but I could HEAR the snags as the claws cut into my noggin! I was standing there holding the cat in my two hands with its two paws holding onto my head. I basically started bargaining with this cat, "If I let go of you, will you let go of me?" Somehow I talked the cat into releasing my head. That just totally took the wind out of my sails and I went home to recover.

Hope it doesn't hurt too much, just make sure you have plenty of "relaxant" before you go.

On the good side...thats why we have pain meds. in my case what they gave me wasn't strong enough, and i had to go back and ask for stronger stuff. It at least knocked me out.
Mine was an exceptional case...i had to get braces and there were 4 additional normal teeth that they wanted out before they put my braces on...so i had 4 wisdom and 4 normal taken out all at the same time!!! And I lived! lol
Only part that sucks is i couldn't smoke for a couple days, cause you can get whats called 'dry socket'...its where air gets into the holes they stitched, where your teeth came out.
That shit hurts...so lay off the smoke is my advice. And by all means don't worry, you'll be fine!!

I had all four of mine out at once, but I don't think they were too impacted. I was so giddy from Valium that I didn't care what they yanked out of my head- afterwards I kept talking, blabbing all the way home, bleeding all over myself:D
My cheeks puffed up, but bags of frozen peas helped- make a little sandwich with your head in between them and lean back on the couch. You may not be able to chew for a few days if your mouth swells up inside like mine did, but smoothies are great - you are a tough cookie so it won't be too hard, but take advantage of the time to let your sweetie baby you!
I had all 4 of mine done at once too, and they were ALL impacted and had come in sideways. What a mess. There was no whole tooth left to take home, lol!
I couldn't take the perscription pain meds they gave me- I am REALLY sensitive to them and it just wasn't a good thing. I ended up taking lots of Advil and many MANY pints of Edie's raspberry sorbet (fat free ftw) to keep a reasonable level of numbness.
It sucked but I'm glad it's over and only wish I'd had it done earlier!
Okay guys....I have to go to bed before midnight. I'm not allowed to eat or drink anything after midnight.
But....
I'm FREAKING THE FUCK OUT. My hearts pounding, my minds racing, and I feel like I want to throw up.
I REALLLLLLLY DON'T WANT TO DO THIS.

I didn't consider it much of an ordeal at all. I've gone through MUCH harder things in my life. Don't worry Reb, the proceedure will just be an hour of discomfort, followed by 3-4 days of awkward eating.
All 4 of mine are getting taken out on Friday. This weekend is gonna suck! Got my vicodin right here though.

I'm sooo freaking thirsty right now. I'm not allowed anything, not even water before this surgery. I'm dying over here. Hopefully the valium that they gave me will kick in when I take it at 10:00. That way I won't be so high strung.

Sounds like its gonna be a painful few days for you.. Take lots of painkillers and smoke lots of weed and that should help with the pain.. Well thats what i did when i had to get 4 teeth pulled out for my braceses years ago, lol. My face n tounge were numb for hours, i hated it..It was really weird feelin.lol
Sorry the pics are shitty and I look like crap. I just woke up from the anesthesia. My cheeks are puffed out and i'm miserable.

Overall it wasn't THAT bad. The valum really did calm me down so when I got the IV it was okay. However I guess before I was completely awake my dentist was giving me shots of novacane and I told him to go fuck himself. I can't even remember if I did haha.
I came home, ate some puddinga nd some mashed potatoes, took 2 vicadan and now i'm on my way home with John.
