Controversy, controversy! Tobacco in joints?

Many times while browsing through the forums I've seen small debates open up on whether putting the addictive tobacco into the beautiful Mary Jane is a good idea.

For me,it's all a question of money: If you have enough money that you can buy enough weed that you never have to worry about running out then why would you ever think about mixing in tobacco but on the other hand(my situation) then i understand.


I've been smoking for about 1 yr and 1/2 and never have i ever smoked a pure weed joint,for many of you this may come as a surprise but honestly i just don't have the money to smoke pure MJ every time I smoke.Over here in Europe the average joint is 80 % Tobacco and 20% Marijuana and to put 100% MJ is considered a rare treat!
The surprising thing about all this is that to my knowledge Marijuana in The US isn't much cheaper than over here in France so tell me guys ,where do you find the money?
I also often feel sufficiently stoned with 1 joint of 80% 20% and don't necessarily feel the need to be more stoned.

Please share your views and opinions on this as i am highly intrested in responses. :rasta::rastasmoke:

I have never put tobacco in any of my joints. I usually smoke a cig after I get high. How do I afford it? I usually only smoke joints when there are other people with weed to throw in on it. Or unless I just got the sack and have a lot. Otherwise I just use bowls, bongs, or a vapo.

100% MJ all the time.

i like to switch it up. usually if i use just weed i never put less than half a G in it, which can add up and get pricey. however, a good spliff is always a treat. it goes immediately to the dome because of the tobacco and gets you pretty damn high. its all preference, and basically anyone who says you should ONLY just weed just doesnt really know what they're talking about. purists sicken me.

I usually smoke out of a pipe/bong, but when I roll and need to cut the weed I put in...peppermint leaves! Not addictive, super smooth in the throat and lungs, and tastes great. I actually roll pure peppermint cigs sometimes and smoke then as a replacement for tobacco. Peppermint is cheap, too. Buy organic though - no chemicals to ruin the benefits.

My ex was from Scotland and he used to roll with tobacco mixed in his spliffs. Honestly, I tried them his way and didn't like it. It seemed harsh to me and would make me cough, which is weird considering I smoke cigarettes. I prefer to just smoke weed, but if you enjoy a mixed joint, then have at it. If you can't express your individuality while smoking cannabis, then when can you? LOL :jointsmile:

Not enough herb for a joint means its time to smoke in a pipe, bong, vaporizer, or eat it, etc.

I don't care what other people smoke, and a handful of cigar puffs will intensify the high for me, but I don't like inhaling tobacco (unhealthy) so mixing the two in a joint is unappealing to me.

Yeah dude, what the others have said, ditch your joints and hit the bong!

vaporizer save so much bud and they get you twice as stoned. oh and i rarely smoke cigs so whenever i smoke a spliff i get the most extreme headrushes:rastasmoke:

oh and i steal whenever i get the chance or i buy a bong at my local headshop and sell it on Craigslist.com for profit. people will die for a LUX mang'

That sounds delicious, gotta try that! Sounds like a clove cigarette or something. I bet that would be good too, clove tobacco and bud.

never in my joints. i do have frinds that do it, and it destroys the taste/smell of the weed

i do enjoy a few ciggy pulls afterwards tho

back when i lived in spain i use to roll mine with baccy. that is because i never had large quantities of weed (I was still in middle school and got my money from chores). Now i role them pure, i prefer tasting good weed. unless its bad weed and i dont have any weed money, i ussually use butter scotch tobacco, theyre great.

sorry but I don't buy the "money thing", smoke a one hitter then.

As for me, NEVER! If someone tried to do that, I'd tell them they are going to pot hell.

its all just a matter of taste. and yes for me it was a money thing. i could get papers for free. but i couldnt get a piece for a cheap price.

and to be honest, 20% weed and 80% tobacco isn't even getting high off of weed, your poluting your body, truely sad IMO.

I wouldnt mix Tobacco with weed.....If i didnt have much money,I would just pipe hit what I got.....and smoke a stogie afterwards.(if you gotta smoke tobacco that is) I mean,your not increasing the weed,just the smoke.

It doesnt come in joints. otherwise if you bought 7 grams.
1 gram or a little more would be weed and the rest be t-bac
I'd say just simply dont smoke it if you dont enjoy it.
And if you dont feel like smokin anymore after 1 joint
then i dont know why you smoke it. I smoke about 15 joints a day
and prob 2 grams of bubble. That'd be way too much for you i guess.
How much do you smoke in the average run of a day?
And do you mix t-bac with the bowls you smoke too?
I heard about yachts and that you have to mix it. but why mix t-bac with joints,
Unless your weed is too wet to smoke on its own.

It's not 80% tobacco and 20% ganja, more like 2/3 weed and 1/3 baccy. A 1/2 ratio at most.

Pure ganja ftw, it's all about bongs anyway.

I mix it, like Reefer said about 20% tobacco and 80% cannabis. This way you get way higher then when you smoke weed only.

Does tobacco actually make you 'high'? I don't believe it does because the government doesn't like people getting high. If you were to smoke all ganja then you would get higher, imo. I think the effect of combining both will make you more intoxicated, however, i don't think it would make you 'higher' because in this scenario only the cannabis can make you high, not the tobacco.

i started smoking joints when i was living in australia. everyone there rolls up with at least a little tobacco so that is what i became accustomed to.

usually when i roll joints i dump out some of the cuts from cloves and use them. makes the joint burn extra slow and i like the added taste of the clove.

I roll spliffs too, but a pure j is the best sometimes.

i've only smoked one "joint" with tobacco in it. it was actually a blunt mixed with the opposite of what you said, 80% MJ & 20% tobacco. it was tasty, but i do like pure MJ ones better.

Personally, I hate tobacco. I was a cigg smoker for 7 years and I quit after many tries, but now as a non-smoker, I dislike it.

If a person is a cigg. smoker and doesn't mind the taste, smell, etc...then what do I care, put tobaccy in your joint. If you don't like tobacco though, use a glass pipe and smoke small bowls.

Why limit yourself to just papers and joints? Use a pipe or a bong or something with just weed, but if you like tobacco, then mix it.

I've only smoked a pure joint a couple of times, when we had a good bit of grass. Normally however I put tobacco into my joints as im smoking pollen and I need something to help it burn nice. I smoke my bongs and pipes more than joints now-a-day anyway but it's great to come home from college and smoke a nice big spliff.

I only use herb with my joints and blunts man. Last night for instance we rolled a blunt with an eighth and then rolled a joint and smoked a few bowls out of a bubbler with 5 people. Then i drove up to my friends house a little later (it was around midnight) i made a call and we picked up a g of some trainwreck and rolled another joint and had some leftovers which we will use tonight :rastasmoke: I go through a lot of cash to be able to do this obviously....$20 a gram and $60 for the eighth and then my friend paid $20 for the other g later on...its all good though haha.

how do YOU afford it, tobacco is practically more expensive than weed in canada...

I am a cannabis smoker that enjoys being intoxicated in every sense of the word. I like to smoke cannabis, and every once in a while I smoke a cigarette with my beer or weed. However, there is no way I would physically mix tobacco and cannabis, simply because I love the taste of weed too much. If I want nicotine, I smoke a cig. If I want THC, I smoke a joint. Simple.

This is funny, because while I was in the Marine Corps ... some of my buddies rolled J's with tobacco, because obv. drugs are prohibited and randomly tested for in the military. They were just a couple pot heads at heart who had to suspend their use for a couple years.


But me personally, I never roll joints, ever. I smoke usually 1-2 Blunts a day of Chronic and maybe a occasional bong rip. I used to smoke 3-5 Blunts a day of high grade. It gets expensive. Basically, I jut saved up, bought an O, and sold it to my close friends for low prices. Now if you aint on your grind, and your doing it that way, you can expect to get a steady stash for yourself. and since they are close friends, you'll end up matching and smokin eachother out anyways, so it goes in a circle.

More like 50/50 MINIMUM!

I actually prefer to smoke a joint with in tobacco (i've rolled) over a blunt, but I'm an avid tobacco smoker all things aside.

yeah, in the UK the general way to roll a spliff is with tobacco (% is preference, but obviously only noobs smoke with more than 50% baccy!)...

you should be the tobacco relations person for pure weed joint smokers :) i find many of them almost militant in their appraoch to people who mix.

PERSONALLY im a mixer.

usualy about 60/40 ganj to baccy ratio. I used cigarette tobacco for a while, but recently got myself a pack of rollin tobacco, and i must say, its even better. I love rolling GOOD joints, everyjoint i smoke should be the best i can do. Normally i roll with a kingsize paper(120mm long) and ill usually stick a .5 or .6 in with some tobacco with a filter, and it fills it out really nicely. These types of joints will burn for a good 25 or 30 minutes between two people if good rolling tobacco is used, a pure joint of the same size will either not last as long, or last just as long, but with a cooler cherry, producing what i find to be a bit thinner smoke. so theres my reasoning, and ironically enough, im not really much of a cigarette smoker, ive baught maybe 6 packs in my life.

if im gonna smoke some weed in a jay, i wont unless it has some tobacco(unless its the only way in the situation to get high). cause if i dont have tobacco ill jstu break out the bong.

The approach non-mixers have towards mixers is a similar approach old people ,who only like classical music, react to hard rock or punk.

i do put tobacco in my joints but its because down here we dont do the blunts and when we do put in tobacco we only put in about 25% to make it burn good if you know what i mean, we cant be bothered for the blunt wraps

I think a lot of people have been trained to think cigarettes and tobacco are gross and unhealthy, which I suppose is in a sense true (but then again so is ganj if thats the way you feel). I've never smoked tobacco or a cigarette so I would just prefer to smoke joints with just weed, but if I don't have to smoke your joints than you can do whatever the hell you want with your joints :rastasmoke:

I have a long car ride home from school for this thanksgiving and I plan on smoking this thing like an hour before the ride so I can just chill listenin to music and eventually just pass out.

I would never taint a joint with tobacco, If it's a matter of money then just smoke bowls.

i been blazin for well, 30 years and this thing with tobacco is kinda new here in the states. i myself will never roll a joint with tobacco hell i dont even like blunts. but thats not to say that if ya was to roll one i would decline a toke. it all depends on whos doin the rollin i guess. if its your bud smoke it how you want. and if rollin 20% bud to 80% tobacco is gettin ya high then do it. no shame in bein a lite wait keeps more cash in your wallet. as far as affordin it well, just dont pay the rent, no just kidding. dont know, you smoke when you can and if your broke you dont toke. and thats why you get freinds who dont mind smokin you out or given up the occasional kick down. but just remember that what comes around goes around. so if a freind hooks you up when you need it, return the favor.
