first grow, first log, first thread

jeez, you guys are poppin my cherries left an right

well, i am currently starting 7 plants, after they get big enough to sex them i will murdalate the males, and if im going to take 2 females and continue them outdoors, but i plan on keeping an indoor female to compare between indoor/outdoor growing, see which one is better/im better at. the rest of the females, if there are more than two, im going to remove those and let my growing partner take care of those, he said he would anyway. i may kill em. who knows.
i know i dont have the walls lined or have adequete lighting but im working on that.i nigrigged the fan from an old computer i had laying around, but again, im working on it.

well, i changed things a bit, i got the light above the seeds (yes i just stuck them in the pot, noone told me id have to germinate them first) and i made the fan more accesible (in that box it wasnt getting its full potential) and i lined the walls with what they needed to be lined with.
i did germinate one seed
would it be too late to germinate them after theyve been in the soil for 2 days but havent sprouted yet?

Some prefer to germinate directly in soil. I wouldn't move them now.

hm..well, i may not be one of those people, its taking too damn long.
for the hell of it stuck a random seed on 6 layers of wet paper towel, covered it with tinfoil, and stuck it in the room with em. its already started splitting. that was maybe...6 hours ago/ish

ive learned that my seeds were shit.
but i got 15 more at a music festival this weekend so im gonna restart this whole process.

yeah hey can you (or someone) tell me if im doing this right..

i put 7 layers of wet paper towel in the bottom of a bowl, put my seeds in, and covered with tinfoil and put it all in my growroom/closet.

is that right or am i doing something incorrectly?

yea thats right. make sure you check them a couple times a day and get them out as soon as the crack

i prefer to just stick my seeds in the growing medium ... but of course i paper towl germ when i need to... just make sure they stay kinda warm and kinda moist... not extremely! that's it and it is simple

Have they even risen to the surface of the soil yet or are they still under the dirt? How far did you plant em down?

about half an inch below, but i dont have any of my new good seeds in the soil, there in the bowl, with the tinfoil

update!
i know two of the four seeds in the bowl just cracked. they got lil white things stickin out of them

do i plant them now or wait for some more substantial growth?
ive seen some guys germ until they were maybe an inch and a half long

The very minute they split, even when the taproot ISN'T protruding out of the seed shell, it's recommended that you plant them.

update, but no pictures

ok, so i added a few more plants (im up to eleven) i think (well, i know) i fucked up, i didnt bury the roots all the way and now they wont grow. i think i used the wrong soil too. i did about a 50/50 of topsoil of this stuff called gardner & bloom which is, essentially, organic compost.
but on the lighter side
the newer ones are doing great
the one i name jess is almost 3 inches tall
and the other sprouts are maybe an inch or two
i will post pics as soon as i can

what is your budget i mighy be able to help though im no pro and ive just started back up myself

well...currently, i have..3 dollars. im doing a few big jobs currently so its gonna be expanded to 75 dollars..but most of that is gonna get blown on pot and cigarettes..so i have no budget, all my shit in my growroom was found laying around my house, the light, found in the pantry, the fan, taken off an old computer, tinfoil, in the drawer in the kitchen, soil, stolen from gardening roomates. im sorry to say i have no real budget

ok, this "could" be a prob. i've been closly monitering my first and fastest growin sprout and..i think it should be growing more veg than it is. idk, ill post a pic.

can someone tell me if something is wrong?
oh, dont mind the soil, i actually got this stuff from my backyard. it may not be "steril" but its good shit, it came from the other legal herbs in my garden. its mixed 60/40 with gardner & bloom.

any help would be grootly appericiated and uh..uhhh..(must think of something to type) oh ok i got it.

two things to explain, that sprout looks a bit shorter than it really is

and the glass of water in there is my watering glass, but i keep it in there because my growroom was pretty low on humidity..

What sort of light are you using?

Bigger pots. Dont transplant them now though it could cause shock to them since there so young. Next time onces you see the seeds crack, plant them 4 inch into the soil. Get a better fan. What lights are you using?

idk, its a fucking flourescent light, i found it on my messy dining room table

on the top and towards the back theres a box that has alot of electrical warnings and shit, open that box, and theres a fan in there, thats what im using, its all i have because, as said before, my budget is tight

so when should i transplant them?

growth on both Jess and Mel have slowed considerably, which is..well i dont know enough about growing to know if thats good or not. jess is still putting along but mel has slowed more. one of these days im gonna get those empty pots outta there..

anyway, there hasnt been enough change to post pics so for now you get nothing

you are definetly gonna need more lights that that. try investing $20 in some CFLs

You need to get CFL @ least (6500K) and get them closer.

You have a ton of stretch going on. Getting the CFL and getting them closer will prevent the dreaded stretch.

second, how many times do i have to bloody tell you, I CANNOT GET A FUCKING CFL, A BETTER FAN, ANYTHING. i will put my current light closer if you think that would help.

You don't need your light closer...all you have to do is:
Take your current light, screw it into your ass and stick your tongue in a light socket...
