Has anyone ever told their doctor they smoke weed?
... even though they don't live in a medical marijuana state? I'm thinking of telling him I smoke once a week just to get his opinion of the situation. Has anyone else ever done this. If so, what was the docs response? I understand, legally, he can't go to the police.

In the uk as long as your above 16 doctor patient confidentialty applies. although i dont know about illegal stuff... wow im useless...:D
-
Has anyone ever told their doctor they smoke weed?
i don't see why a doc would care, it's not their job to bust you, they'd probably just answer any questions you had and give you their info and leave you to make the decision on how to live your own life
-
Has anyone ever told their doctor they smoke weed?
its fine to tell doctors or psychiatrists that you may smoke once and a while...theyll discuss it with you...chances are you wont get busted in any way
-
Has anyone ever told their doctor they smoke weed?
Doctors cant get you in trouble because of patient confidentiality. I tell any medical professional who is treating me about it. It's something they should know. My psychiatrist considers it as part of my treatment plan in conjunction with my other medications because it has a positive impact on my moods.

Always tell your doctor.
If your doctor has a problem with it, get a new doctor.

At aged 18 coming down of e's I was having panic attacks, I was advised by the doctor in the hospital to smoke a bit! Since then I never looked back, 16 years later tho, my lungs are knackered! That guy who said he smokes half an oz a day, really? I am ok during the day, but find it hard to breath through the night and my wheezing wakes me up and I only smoke like half an oz a week, grant I've been doing it a long time tho. I got a lecture of a nurse once for being honest about my use and another nurse recently was fine about it chatting away saying a lot of people do it, I was in for a knee op, non related, not sure if she would have the same attitude if she had listened to my chest!

Your doctor shouldn't care....I don't understand how some people can be THAT PARANOID about weed.
-
Has anyone ever told their doctor they smoke weed?
doctor patient confidentiality. enough said. they can't do shit.

i almost had the highest thc level in my urine that my psychiatrist had ever seen in his patients. is it sad that i wanted the record?

No, but I told a cop today.. He didn't care.. I even think he knew it before hand..
-
Has anyone ever told their doctor they smoke weed?
I always tell my doctors. I even had a doctor at one of the pain clinics I went to tell me that most people he sees would like to smoke and that it would help them, but they don't have the connections to do so (he said I was lucky I was in college and knew people...)
If your doctor has a problem with it, explain your reasoning. Legally, he cannot tell anyone. He can't do a damn thing. If he gives you a really hard time about it, consider going somewhere else, but it really shouldn't be a problem. I've only had one doctor really give me shit about it, and I've probably told over 30 (I have really fucked up health problems).
-
Has anyone ever told their doctor they smoke weed?
hell yes...lie to your priest..lie to the pope ....llie to your wife...if need be but do not lie to your doctor about anything. I told my doc that I smoked and that I drank a fifth of jack a week...so she could treat me corectly. when it comes to your health if you are not honest they cannot help you...and you will die prematurely.........*make sure all you guys get a female doctor with small fingers before your 40.

Exactly, marijuana is the most popular illegal substance used by people, so if he is shocked to find one of his patients is smoking pot then he sure doesn't have much experience. You always want a doctor you can be completely honest with about your health, otherwise you are wasting your time with a doctor you don't talk about some important things he should know.
I told my doctor because of the research I found about marijuana greatly helping people with Crohn's disease. He claimed he did research and came back to me saying he doesn't recommend it's use, despite my own personal success. So I said "fuck you" and went to a pot doctor and got legal. Soon I plan to mail him all the information on the internet I found supporting marijuana and Crohn's disease, with a nice little letter telling him I'm still smoking :)
He can't do shit, and even if he did cops don't really care about individual pot smokers, they are only going after the dealers and co-ops (many are ignoring those too)
-

After doctors told me that there's nothing more they can do, and I told them that Pot works wonders (for the pain), they agreed with me.

It's any age really. But with little kids parents go in with them i supose. But whatever age you are, doctors cannot talk to anyone outside the room about it, or they'd be struck off.
My doctor knows i smoke large amounts of weed - he didnt care, and he didnt try and tell me all the "bad" things about it, which is just as well otherwise i would have had an argument with him.
I've told police before too - it's not like they can do anything. Well, in America they can but that's because the laws are so over the top. I still cant belive any country in the west would class cannabis as more dangerous, or more illegal than cocaine. Complete joke.
-

Yes quite open with the doc, told her i smoke and asked her Questions about how long it would take to get clean for a drug test. The doctors ur friend u should be able to tell em anything abt ur body and what u do with it so they know whats wrong with you .
-
Has anyone ever told their doctor they smoke weed?
the only time a doctor will have to let go of the information is if their files are subpoena'd for a court case or if they are called to testify in a trial.
in that case, you lose patient-doctor confidentiality--only client-lawyer confidentiality holds up. also if a doctor is transferring your care, he might include it in your medical records or mention it to your new doc, but most keep it as a very tiny note or just don't include it in the chart unless you have something like lung disease (btw debob, get a vape or start cooking some brownies).

Do you know how i know your lying? Because they dont test for THC. THC is out of your body 2-4 hours after smoking it. It's been used, it's gone. It isnt there anymore. They dont test for THC. They test for the left over cannabinols. They do the same with hair tests as well. If the THC is getting you stoned, it's being used. If they tested for THC it'd be a waste of time, concidering someone would be able to smoke in the morning and pass a drug test in the afternoon.

I told my doc I smoke, he BLEW UP and proceeded to beat me savagely with his stethescope. Then he called the cops and they dragged my bloody half-living body out of the office. All I heard from him as they took me was "eat it terrorist dope-fiend".

Actually, most cops here don't care about individual pot smokers, and you could tell them you smoke it and they can't do anything. They have to catch you in the act if they do want to do anything, or find it on you, but freedom of speech protects us so we can walk up to a cop and talk all we want about how we love to get high :rastasmoke:

Yeah, but i've heard of people gonig to prison for testing positive or for having like a gram - and THAT is way over the top.
In England you could get caught with an oz and as long as you wernt dealing it you probably wouldnt even end up going to court. That'd never happen in America.
I know cops dont go out just to arrest someone who might be smoking weed - but if they do catch someone they'll arrest then and all sorts - but that kinda thing just dont happen in the UK.
I mean, what'd happen if you got caught with, lets say an 1/8 in your car, smoking some while your driving?
Over here you'd get pulled over, they'd confiscate it and you'd get a warning, that'd be it - and not only do i know that, they've even proved it by showing them just warning people on those crappy cop programs over here.
In America you'd have all sorts of problems - and i just cant see why America is SO harsh, not only about weed, but about almost everything. The laws are over the top, down right silly, and they contradict each other.
I just cant understand how a country in the west, so developed could ever seriously class weed as more dangerous than cocaine.
Over here coke is class a, weed is class c. Big differnce - weed is almost legal over here. I guess we're just lucky, but it should be legal over there too.

no, not lying just got lazy and didn't think i had to go into the details of a drug test, yes THC is out of your system relatively fast. the leftover cannabinoids give an indication of the THC intake. i was just simply putting the results in the way the good doctor put them to me. if you must know it was a urinalysis that i didn't even expect to get screened for drugs, i thought they were just checking for luekecytes and shit to make sure i wasn't pissing white blood cells. when they screened it for the cannabinoids i was told the number was 210. now i am assuming that's nanograms/mililiter. he said most people conisder between 50-150 the range they expect from someone that smokes every once and a while to someone that smokes almost everyday. but way to call me out on something that actually happened, just because i put them in layman's terms you douche.
-
Has anyone ever told their doctor they smoke weed?
I was under the impression that THC is a cannabinoid, one that stays in your system up to 30 days, but during that time it's already turned into a useless and non-psychoative metabolite stored in your fat.

Up untill you personally attacked me you were being very mature about it.
Now, because you called me a douche i assume you dont actually know what on is? - Go try google.
I wouldnt have said anything if you haddnt said that - but that's one that gets used alot around here - all by the silly little children - you see, the adults actully know what it means and wouldnt use it as an insult because it's so pathetic.

THC as it is, the main phycoactive ingrediant that gets you stoned is out of the blood stream 2 - 4 hours after smoking it. It may degrade into other cannabinoids, but the THC itself is gone.
That's why no one would test positive for THC - only if they were tested a few minutes after smoking.

It depends what state you are in, I've heard Nevada has some of the toughest marijuana laws, where getting caught with a few seeds could get you a charge of "intent to sell", with up to 25 years in prison. I don't know if the laws have changed, or if it's really that strict, but it wouldn't surprise me if some states were like that.
What is really ass backwards is how some states are so harsh against marijuana, then other states allow people to get married as young as 14...wtf lol

It's just from the history of lies, if you lie to people over and over, eventually they will start to believe it. Add fear to the mix and not only will they believe it, they will defend those lies despite what the evidence says. It isn't much different how some people think blowing up Iraq somehow makes us safer from terrorists, lies and fear can make people believe anything, and after years and years of hearing our teachers, parents, religious leaders, etc. go on about how dangerous marijuana is, we start to believe it.

Has anyone ever told their doctor they smoke weed?
actually i am fully aware of what a douche is and what it is used for.
i dont care if "all the silly children" use it. there is something about the word that just flows well.
and here is what wikipedia has to say about the slang use,
"Terms such as shower pocket, douchebag, d-bag, DB, doucherama, doucher, douche turd, douchington, or simply douche are considered pejorative terms in Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and New Zealand. The slang usage of the term dates back to the 1960s.[4] Initially, it was used to insult a woman, originating as an insult derived from lesbian activities"
i assume since you are obviously above average intelligence that i don't have to define pejorative for you. even wikipedia excepts douche as an insult.
anyways i am not here to start beef, the only reason i threw that comment in there in passing was because you accused my story of being false, because i did slip up and miss represent what test was actually being done on my urine. now if we can move past this, that would be bueno.

It's important to note that *most* physicians would keep your discussions with him/her private, but "private" does have it's limitations.
I know that most docs do write down most everything you tell them, and herein lies the problem.
Your medical file privacy and access to them is regulated by a set of rules called HIPAA. However so, access to these records is routinely given to insurance companies, MIB (Medical Information Bureau), state/federal agencies, and others under the HIPAA guidelines. In same cases, even your employer can get the records, especially if they are self insured. Insurance companies are notorious for obtaining patient medical records and sharing them with each other.
If you are in a med. marijuana state like California, these details can be accessed a variety of ways, including what you tell your physician.
Read:
Medical Records Privacy
The bottom line is that you NEVER want to give your real name and pay IN CASH at the docs office if you are dealing with anything you want to keep private. If you do use your real name, tell the office staff at the docs office that you refuse to give your SSN# or submit the claim to insurance.

Has anyone ever told their doctor they smoke weed?
you need to give consent before they release your information.....its some sectional code in California, iv been at the doctors for the last week everyday, blood drawn, exams, physical, shots, i read all the posters i hate going to the clinic always takes so long, i told her i smoked and she disagreed with it but thats all she can really do..

Did you actually know what it meant BEFORE taking a trip to Wikipedia?
It's a childish thing to say, and concidering what it is, it isnt much of an insult.
What is the obession with little kids and that word?
Also, i'm a little confused about what you've posted previously on this thread.
Why would your psychiatrist be testing your piss? And why would they be testing it for drugs without your knowledge AND for white blood cells. I was under the assumption that psychiatrists we're for your head?
"urine that my psychiatrist had ever seen in his patients."
"If you must know it was a urinalysis that i didn't even expect to get screened for drugs, i thought they were just checking for luekecytes and shit to make sure i wasn't pissing white blood cells."
Now, i might be missing something here - the answer might be staring me in the face, and if so, i appologise, but care to explain to me why your psychiatrist was testing your piss for white blood cells and drugs?

I told one doctor and she wasn't bothered then i told another and he over reacted and blamed my tiredness and related stuff on weed, same happened to a mate tured out he had epperlepsy (still didnt give him pills for 2 months till his blood was "clean"). This doctor also refused to take my blood because thats "a nurses job". Still got to be said that on the hole NHS isnt to bad just not run very well.

I'm probably going to tell my doc I smoke weed. She probably needs to know stuff like that, especially since I'm on anti-depressants and have a history of mental health issues.

a Psychologist is strickly for the head. a Psychiatriast is a doctor that specializes in the head, yet still having the medical knowledge for the rest of the body, hence the reason they can perscribe medication and a psychologist cannot.
now if you must delve into my medical happenings, i was given a unrinalysis along with routine bood work to establish a baseline for hormone levels and the such. you know if there was a hormone imbalance or something else phsyiologically wrong with me, it would determine a totally different course of treatment. Also a tox-screen is a very common test to perform on urine, obviously i already told my doctor i smoked so i didn't have any worries about them screening for drugs, you know the whole confidentiallity thing. basically the tests were used as a process of elimination to figure out what was wrong. the blood work and urinalysis eliminated any phisiological problems.
also for your information, i didn't have to enlighten myself with wikipedia to know what a douche was, i used it as a tool to show you that yes indeed the word douche is an insult. obviously i am a child, and you played the much more mature card of "i bet you don't even know what that is". good job guy.
truth is you are the epitome of "that guy", you know the one that likes to run his mouth like he knows shit and tries to play the i am so much more mature holier than thou crap. next time before you start running your mouth like a douche bag actually acquire some working knowledge of the human body and the medical field, because this "little kid" will take you to school any day, son.

Your right, poo poo head is more childish, in the sense it's something a 3 year old would say.
I admit, i DID think you was lying to begin with - but because you worded your post all wrong i was completely entitled to think you were lying.
And by the way, it's spelt QUIET
Now, how, exactly did you take me to school? I asked a question, you replied, i reread your previous post, i learned something [the differnce between the two shrinks]
Now, THAT, my friend IS NOT taking me to school. That's just explaining something, and thankyou for doing it.
Hey, at least your not still shouting "douchebag" at me like a little kid - you've gone up in my estimations.
