I've put toking behind me. Anybody else?
Just wondering who else here, if any, has put the weed behind them? I quit toking as of 2 weeks ago and am commited to staying off the weed. I have nothing against smoking it of course, and I wish you all the best with happy toking, I just don't enjoy it anymore.
Every time I get high I don't like the feeling at all, and I've taken 2 week and even 6 week breaks, but it's always the same lousy feeling when I toke again. It doesn't help for pain anymore, and for some reason even makes the pain worse when I get higher than a mild buzz. So I've quit entirely, and don't plan on starting again. I haven't sworn it off for all eternity, I just think in the distant future it'll be something I indulge in once or twice a year on a special occasion. Hopefully by then my tolerance really would be back to zero and the "magic" would be back. Because seriously, it was more magical and amazing and outright psychadelic than any substance I've ever experienced (and I've been around the block). Wish I could go into details, but ah well.
Also, I can confidently say that the so called "addiction" claimed by prohibitionists is nonsense. 2 1/2 years of smoking, heavily, and I don't have any sort of withdrawl of any kind. Not the slightest desire or need to smoke again, lol.
Anyway, that was a nice 2 1/2 year chapter in my life, time to start the next one. I'll still hang with all my good friends here of course :) .
Anybody else in the same boat?

I've put toking behind me. Anybody else?
Yeah some people get bored of it after a few years some after 10 years and some never get bored of it it just depends on the person and how much they enjoy it etc.
SHAME ON YOU! for only lasting 2 and a half years mrdevious.. lol jk, I dont think i would ever quit though i love weed so much i wouldnt want to quit it but its nice to take a break every now and then.
Fair enough if you dont feel that weed doesnt do anything for you anymore and you dont like the feeling of being stoned but is that because you dont get the same effect or you just dont enjoy the feeling anymore??
I was at a point where i thought i was going to quit once but the only disadvantage that i see is it costs money and too many advantages which i wont go it to lol.
All i can say is good luck though  lol

Why be a prick?
This website is for anyone who wants to be a community we dont single anyone out here.
Its for anyone weather they used to smoke weed or still do or even if they havent but they are curious.
I hate people who think there better than everyone else..

Rest assured that you are not the only one. I would place money on the fact that within 2 years 80% of the people posting here now will not be smoking weed.
The remaining 20% of life long smokers like me will still be smoking until we leave the earth plane.
So you are no means alone.
I do hope you continue to post here.

To get back to the original topic, I haven't gotten stoned as often as before. I enjoy being soberity for most of the day, but at night, man I love being stoned.

what happens when your with some friends and they break out a J...It smells really good,,,you feel like getting high..and you say to your friend "hey, lemme get a hit off of that" and he says "I thought you quit" .
You look just like every other idiot trying to quit something...ALL TALK and NO ACTION.
but, on the other hand..you keep it to yourself...dont smoke...only if you really want to..and nobody is the wiser...if the joint comes to you and you dont feel like hitting it..you just say " Naw, I am good" and it is just that...their thinking..cool...more for me..HAHAHAHA
Forgive me, I am NOT stoned at the moment so my head is going faster than the speed of sound right now.

I quit smoking after a good 6 years of fiending. I spent a year and a half sober, no drinking or smoking. Then I slowely came back to it and from my quiting I believe I gained a new appreciation and understanding. I learned what I liked and what i didn't, when is a good time to smoke and when it makes no sense. I quit for the same reason you did and I totally understand. My consumption now is nowhere near when I quit.

Same here. I've changed my ideas on when and why I smoke, and who I smoke with. I dropped it for three or four months this year, and now I'm getting back into it - being straight-edge and completely healthy seemed like a great idea at the start, but it did end up being pretty boring. Small towns with no friends suck. I can't wait to move to the city.

Glad you're doing what feels right for you. And Runway Jim, there are others here who've made the same choice. I don't smoke and am a mod on this site. I'm still an advocate.
I don't feel I've put it behind me, however. I still enjoyed the heck out of cannabis the last time I smoked it. It's just not something that works easily into my life right now, primarily because of the hassle of its illegality. I prefer to think of it as something that's out ahead of me in my future again--when it's easier to get without fear of repercussions and when I'll have more ability to choose the ideal strain.

i took like 4 months off for the same reason and then got back into it because i enjoy it again.

I quit for a long time because I thought I had outgrown it, now that I have learned it can make me healthier I am waiting to get legal in California so I can start back up. So as one stoner quits, another sparks up:smokin:

Dude, don't buy into the flat-out extremist stance that it does nothing but good for you. It acts neuroprotectively, agressively kills cancer, settles the digestive system, improves long-term memory, and reduces inflammation (albeit the opposite for me the past year or so). But don't fool yourself, you're still putting tar into your lungs and that's never a good thing any way you look at it. It does have some mild hinderance effects on learning and short-term memeory, though there's a good chance that's temporary looking at recent research. I think science is still on the fence about it aggrivating psychological conditions like schizophrenia and depression. And lastly, it desensitizes the cannabiniod receptors in your body which is an important part of your bodies regulatory system.
Once you get a tolerance so high that you don't get that magical hallucinogenic state anymore, I think it sort of dulls the experiences in life (when you're not on it mainly) that would normally get really really excited/happy/feeling significant. That's how I've felt at least, I have an extraordinarily good memory of how I percieved the world at every age right down to when I was 3.

Seems I've had a lot of responses like this one. Thanks for being so understanding all :).

Good for you man! I tried to stick to vaping, but when it came right down to it, smoking is more pleasurable and so much easier than heating one up for 10 minutes and having to use a wall socket. Stick to it, it's good you have the willpower.

Actually, it's more exciting! I find I'm appreciating life and the little things, the little beauties, more now that I'm not getting high. It's as if all the wonderful effects cannabis used to give me have completely reversed (especially the analgesia).

You should eat some. Then you'll see the beauty of mary jane in a new light once again. Never shall I leave your side sweet Mary, we're gonna go for a walk in the park everyday.

I've put toking behind me. Anybody else?
nope, i'll consider myself a toker til the day i die..
however lately, it hasn't seemed as important to me as it was from 14-20... back then it was everything to me, it was virtually the only thing i gave a shit about.. (as in material possession type shit, family members/friends don't count)
i guess this last year of having a 1/4 here, an 1/8 there, have made me realize it's not the end of the world and i'll live if i don't have it... so i just kinda now sit back and wait for it to come to me... don't get me wrong, if i found somewhere to get it, i'd probably be on it in a heart beat... but atleast i'm not sitting there all day anymore going 'i want weed' 'where can i find some..' and all the other typical desperate druggie crap...

It's a shame to see you go, but this proves weed isnt addictive at all, people CAN control when and if they smoke, and how much they smoke. It's very decisive and right for you, so best of luck! I hope you stay on the site though, i enjoy your posts.
I myself, probably wont give up. I enjoy it so much and it's such a big part of me [which i know people will think i sound addicted, but i'm not, i choose not to stop] that i cant really see myself without it. For starters i'd be in pain, but more the fact i enjoy life stoned much more than i ever would sober. Life is meant to be fun, and productive along the way, and maybe even bang out a kid while your going along, and life for me stoned is very fun, and it doesnt affect me at all.
But anyway, like i said, goodluck and dont vanish from the site!

Dude, I heavily respect you for being wise enough to be able to look at your situation and assess what is what. You aren't living any illusions, and that fills me with a fuzzy sense of joy. So many people bring so much bullshit in when they quit something, anything, whether it be weed or tv or a relationship or alcohol or cigarettes.

I just recently quit too. i stopped for alot of different reasons. one to help me get over some of the depression and emotional problems i was facing with giving up my child.. smoking just seemed to make those feelings worse after a while. after covering it up for so long, and then got busted for pot, and loosing all the friends around me that werent doing pot (most of which i really respected, and valued) and finding a good job. i just dont have the time to really fit it in my life at this moment. yes i still want to smoke, but at this time in my life, there is alot more important stuff that matter... dropping out of school was a bad choice, dropped out to go get stoned every day.. i was being one of the people that give pot a bad name.. but once i get my shit in line, i will probably pick up the pipe again, and use it in an entirerly different persective then i used it for before.
