jaw pain in dreams
So there would be some nights when I go to sleep and I have a dream about pain in my jaw, and I can actually feel the pain. I know that you cannot feel pain in your dream, so it must mean my jaw slips into a bad position when I sleep. This doesn't happen very often, but once in a while. I also have jaw clicking everytime I open my mouth, and sometimes when I yawn too wide my jaw seems to crack multiple times.
Does anyone else have jaw clicking, and should I go consult a doctor about this. I'm 17 and I had it for roughly 3 years. Thanks.

I have that problem, Bob, both clicking and jaw pain. At night, you can feel it sometimes, and it gets worse if you tend to clench and grind your teeth at night, which I have done all my life. Many years ago the dentist made me up a night guard--a little plastic protective bite guard that fits over my upper teeth, which I wear to sleep. It protects your teeth and you temporomandibular joints. Those are the joints where your jawbones connect on both sides, just in front of your ears and which are what you hear popping and clicking. Try wearing a night guard and see if it helps! You can also buy them over the counter sometimes.

When I yawn to wide, my mouth gets stuck in place and hurts. I try not to yawn now. Does this happen to you too?

You asking me?
No, that particular thing doesn't happen to me. Not yet, at least.

I was asking both. I dunno why it happens. It's really annoying and keeps me from yawning comfortably.

Clicking IDK but the jaw pain is most likely as people have said from grinding your teeth.
I personally clench and grind very hard when I sleep. Apparently in you sleep you can clench your teeth an amazing amount causing long term damage. You can usually tell if you are grinding because your teeth will wear down gradually or your front side teeth will become kind of pointed.
If you've been having this for 3 years I would imagine that's causing the clicking too... from long term jaw deformation.
Walmart sells nightgaurds which is like a mouth guard that are like $30. Kind of a lot of money but having your jaw reconstructed would be lots $$!
Give the mouth guard a try. If it still bothers you or is that bad go see a dentist.

To matt's question: it definetly hurts when I yawn too wide, but as far as getting stuck, that doesn't happen. Like I said, it cracks multiple times, like 2 or 3 times in one second, and I just quench in pain, and in like 10 seconds the pain goes away.
I talked with my mother, when she was a kid she also had this problem and she said it went away with time. She had many problems such as extreme pain in her legs and some problem with her heart, and doctors told her to get surgery immediately but she refused and 20 years later she went to get her heart checked and it was perfect.
I just want to know if anyone knows anyone that had to get surgery from this problem. I suppose I'll wait maybe 2 years and see whats up, and then invest in a nightguard if the pain gets worse.

Bob the clicking and pain you have is called TMJ syndrome. I have it but its not bad enough for surgery. My cousin had surgery for it and you do not want that if you can avoid it. Basically your skull and lower jaw do not line up properly. Only way to correct is to shatter your jaw and reconstruct it. You'll have your mouth wired shut for quite awhile and be on a strict diet of whatever fits threw a straw. You can see a doctor or dentist about this.
