feeding question zandor???

ok i was feeding my beans 5 times a day in veg only during the 18 hours the light was on.. they were going 6am, 10am, 2pm, 6pm, 10pm... i dont know why i never fed them during the 6 hours off but i never have.. so my question is now that im doin 12/12 i can only have it on like 4 times while the light is on.. should i feed them every 4 hours still with the light off? now too or what? how often should i feed them anyway.. right now im usin every 4 hours while the lights are on for 20 minutes each flood (ebba nd flow).. now in flowering how often should i feed them and should i feed them while the lights are off?

yo what media are you growing in. i'm guessing it's rockwool since you have a 4 hour feeding cycle. I would water my plants 2-3 times through the night if i were you.

you can feed fairly often. i leave my drip system going 24-7, and my plants are doing great. i keep my water oxygenated with an airstone in my res, so the extra water does not seem to be detrimental. kind of a drip/dwc almost.

i use hydroton and never water at night.......i water every 6 hrs while light is on and not at all while its off.It is possible to overwater,even in hydro. tech tip...push your plants to the limit one time to see what the limit is,then move from there.

I would need to know the grow medium as well that you are using to make an educated coment on your feeding cycle.

But Yes I do feed in the dark but only 1/2 as much as with the lights on.

im using hydroton and rockwool cubes inside in net pots

If they are growing fine then the only thing I would ad is a feeding in the night and then start the day off just before the light by giving them a feeding too.

How large is your rockwool? Later on in the cycle you may be able to push them but that depends on the size of your rockwool.

I have already read (and followed) the notion that you don't feed at night. The roots need that valuable time to have air circulated around the roots. In many cases the light warms up the room and roots to a point to where you need to water every 4 hours or so to keep them wet. When the light is off it is just a good idea to not water unless your plants seriously look starved.

If you go more then 4 hours in the dark you may want to have one may too feedings. They do still drink in the dark period. No feeding and you are forcing them to move nutrients, & minerals around in the dark and that is fine for about 4 hours but more then that and they don't just move it around they use it up and if you want to grow larger buds then don't make them use up the stored nutrients until the end of the cycle. Give them a chance to use them to get big instead of just surviving.

Hmm, guess I'll add a few water cycles during the night see how it goes.
