i was looking on a link about news on aol...and i clicked "post your thoughts" about an issue that just aggrivates me. people will pick and choose what parts of their OWN religion to follow and i think that is retarded...this top part is what the previous poster said, and for some reason it set me off...and what follows it is my response.
(just a little backstory...some people are arguing that gays in the military is the same as having pedophiles in the military *eyeroll*)

alot of people seem to think that just because someone is gay/les, and in the military, that they are running rampant trying to screw all their fellow soldiers...totally stupid...
i grew up with bigotted parents...they were very loving, great parents, but they'd talk about "faggots" and black people (though they used another word i dont like to say/hear)....
i overcame what i was brought up around...i admit when i was little i thought "ewww two guys" or "ewww two girls"...but when i got older, i.e. GREW THE HELL UP, i realized you should look at a person for what they truly are. a kind, caring, dedicated American....
what would you rather have in the military....
A) a gay man/woman who is just trying to ensure the freedom/happiness of our country, but likes to get it on w/the same sex....
or
B) a straight man that has a wife and kid back home, but goes nuts when he's in another country at war, and rapes/kills the "enemy"...even if its children and innocent women?
alot of you need to shut up and realize that, even if they dont agree with your religious beliefs (by sticking "something" where you and your god think it shouldn't go)...these gay and lesbian soldiers are fighting for YOU and YOUR right to be how you want to be...and they are DYING...you dont have to like that they sleep w/the same sex...you dont even have to allow these people into your home if you don't want to...
but how in the HELL are you gonna trash talk someone who's risking their life to make yours better/safer? what gives you the right??!!
some book? the Bible? yes, parts of the bible mention gayness is wrong...but if you're gonna believe that..."because the bible says so"...then shouldn't you also treat your fellow man/woman as you would wish to be treated...
the bible says:

so if you believe one thing in this book, you have to believe it all. you can NOT pick and choose which of "gods words/teachings" you want to follow. if you believe it, it is ALL true for you and must be followed....it doesn't say "love thy neighbour, unless he's a fruit" does it?
if you hate what they do thats fine...just don't be an ass about it...they deserve to be happy as much as you do...and if you really wanna get technical. i believe in the bible it says something to the effect that only God can judge...so why are you trying to be god? if its so wrong, and if these men and women truly will burn in hell for it for all eternity....so be it! let them live their life, even if you think it is wrong....if god is real, and everything in the bible is true...they will pay for their "sin"...and god will judge them....you have no right to judge them, because you are not god!!
and the whole gays in the military=the same as pedophiles in the military issue....that is pure retardation right there. yes, they are both "immoral" in the eyes of a "devout christian"...what of it???!!! screwing a willing adult is totally different from screwing a helpless child...and if you can't see that...then YOU have problems...
