I had a check run on my well and the total hardness came out to 170 PPM.. Is this really high? No chlorine or iron in the water, no nitrates/nitrites - the hardness consists of calcium, magnesium and manganese. Can my plants absorb those micro nutrients from this source or are they insoluable/unusable to the plant in this form?
yes but leave it our 24 hours before you test it so the chlorine may dissipate. Then check it again if you are still above 150ppm then you have hard water.

Our waters 80 ppm. outa the tap here in the city . Yours is pretty high . Somewhere in like pg . 4-5 of bluebears waterfarm/dwc club thread Latewood kinda gets into the specifics of what is -n- isn't hardwater . I use G/H 3pt. and they don't recomend the use of "hardwater" Micro until it's 220ppm. outa the tap ? Maybe some of the info there will be helpful ? i'll try to find it -n- post a LINK here for ya . no promises tho .

Thanks for the help! Since it is from a well theres no chlorine in it, but it does seem pretty hard from the spots left on dishes. Can the plants use the calcium and magnesium from the water or should I still think about using a cal mag supplement?
