This is something that happened about 2 years ago, but I just remembered it and thought it was worth sharing.
This is really long, but I got in major story mode. My apologies. My girlfriend say's this isn't interessting, so read at your own risk.
You can prob skip the first paragraph. *edit* or all of it.
I was having a really shitty day and had just had something depressing happen with what ever relationship I was in, so I text one of my friends to ask if she wanted to hang out. She was at the bar and asked if I wanted to come hang out for the last 30 or so minutes it was open. I decided I needed to get out the room, so I went. I didn't have anything to drink, just went in, talked for a few minutes and played some pool.
Well, when the bar closed I was still pissed off and so I pulled out the parking lot and got stuck behind some slow jackass doing 10 mph under the speed limit. I know there are cops all around because they love giving DUI's around campus, so I didn't use my signal and threw my car a little bit when changing lanes. The whole time I'm making sure not to break the speed limit.
Sure enough, as I turn to pull onto the road with my dorm, a cop hits his lights. When I pull over, he asks for my ID. He was an asshole from start. I hand it to him my ID.
"Where are you coming from?"
"The bar," I reply.
"You have anything to drink tonight?"
I very chipperly reply, "No sir I ain't."
"Please step out of the car.
So I step out of the car.
"Do you know why I pulled you over."
"No sir, I know I was doing the speed limit, but it may have looked faster to you because the drunk guy in front of me was doing 10 below."
He say's, "No, you weren't speeding but you didn't use your turn signal."
He than orders me to walk to him. I do and he gets right up in my face like he wants to fight or something and smells my breath. He than gets really pissed off, after smelling no beer, and me showing no signs of being drunk the entire time.
"You know I can write you a ticket for reckless driving!"
"I suppose you could... but all I really did was not use my blinker."
He than gets more pissed off and tells me to be more careful next time and that I'm free to go. I tell him thanks and get back in my car. I'm just putting my license back in my wallet when he literally burns rubber out of the parking lot. There was no other call, his radio was clear the whole time.
I knew the jackass wasn't going to waste his time with a blinker violation when their are drunk people he can arrest. I sometimes like to think I helped one drunk college folk out of a DUI.
