need lighting and anti smell advice
i have a cupboard which is 2 feet wide x 2 feet deep x 5 feet high. i have figured out which ventilation would be best for the area but am a bit confused as to which light would be best. im thinking of getting an hps kit but i dont know what wattage to get, 400w or 600w. i also have pesky [landlord type] visitors invading my home doing spot checks from time to time and would rather them not smell anything unusual, so i thought about getting an rkv 125 filtration kit. is this good enough? can anyone give me tips on eliminating the smells. oh yeah, i forgot, how many plants could you grow in this area too?

I would think, your going to have a major heat issue with a 400w, lamp in there.... Why not just CFL grow? They do generate less noise, less heat....

Yes you would have a a major heat issue with a 400 watt hps in there and like he said why not go cfl?Keeps noise down, less heat, still get a good yield and uses less energy. As for the odor control im not sure on that one hopefully someone can help ya out on that.good luck

As far as your smell goes check out this thread. This will show you how to build a carbon scrubber to rid the odors...http://boards.cannabis.com/growroom-...on-filter.html

im lucky in that the area has 2 air vents one high up, the other below but with easy access. with no heating in their its the coldest room in my flat so i was hoping that the 400w would not overheat the area, considering the size would a 250w be less problematic and give good yealds. this is my first time around and i really would like to try and set things up right from the start.

I still think you should stick with cfl.

with a bit of work i could extend the size to 4 feet deep x 2 feet wide x 5 feet high but i dont want to doo this as it would be covering the top half of the door, or is height the issue? if so there is a concrete shelf i could bash out which would give me an area of 2x2x7feet and wont interfere with the door. i must admit that i find wiring up loads of cfl's rather daunting as i have never really had ane experience on these lines, although i did replace a light in my ceiling once. if none of these dimensions sound any good what would the best cfl lghts/propagation kits be to get.

5ft's not too cramped, but not ideal, Your plants will typical end up about 3ft talk when havested, some times closer to 4, so you have to make sure your vertical room has enough room for the lights as well, and remember HPS systems are hot, where you can have the plant a few inchs away with cfls, you typical see hps guys atleast 10inchs away

just done a bit of digging around for cfl info, looks like im going to try that rather than take a sledgehammer to the house just to use the hps system. thanks for the good advice everyone and good luck on your own projects.
