Marijuana Blast from the Past: African "Gungeon"

We had something called "African Black Gungi" in the early 70's, and it was the strongest stuff I'd tried at that point - even better than most hash. It was one hundred dollars an oz. at the time, which was much more than the average stuff was going for. I think that it was the same type as this article talks about, but I mistakenly confused it with a similarly-named product from India that I read about recently.


The third and most potent grade of marihuana came from Africa. Called "gungeon", it was the most expensive variety of the three and only those whose incomes were above average could afford the luxury of smoking such a high grade of drug.
