transplanting to 5 gallon pales, how much to water?
my plants are only tiny little buggers at the moment, but i plan on transplating into their own 5 gallon pales soon, to avoid any further disruption to the soill, and etc etc. so they can grow to their full potential. abyhow, i am planning my watering systm and need to know just how much water each plant will need on a daily basis to keep that much soil moist enough for the best growing conditions. I need to do a little fooling around to get things all straightened out before the time comes that i do need a better watering system in place.

Do you know why nobody has answered your post ? Because your question is like asking how long a piece of string is. Heres a simple way to know how much water your plants need at any one time : Fill the buckets with your prepared soil and water heavily until the soil is saturated and some water runs out the drain holes. Leave standing for 24 hours so that the soil biological processes get up and running. Plant yr. plants. If they're seedlings or small plants they won't need any water for weeks in such a big pot. I recommend you then get a soil moisture measurement meter. Its got two prongs and a meter readout. Stick it in the soil and it tells you how moist it is. Simple. Tips for watering soil : Make sure you break up the topmost layer of soil at regular intervals this helps greatly in avoiding dry spots. Dry spots are pockets of dry soil in your buckets. How much water you will eventually use depends on a mulitiude of things like temperature, humidity, nature of soil, size of plants, etc, etc. Good Luck.

Hi Sticky..
You should defintiley use a perlite soil mixture... You will NOT want to water everyday... YOU ONLY WATER when the soil is dry.. ROOTS need oxygen... MOIST soil does not have as much oxygen as dry soil...
Water your plants with .5 - 1 gallon of pH balanced water as needed... usually plants in soil need a thorough watering every 3-10 days..
pH Water - See More Buds
depending on plant size, temperature, and medium.

i have my plants in tiny little pesatmos cups at the moment and they just don't seem to be growing very large. after 5 days, they are only a little over an inch tall, is this normal? is it the size of the pot they are in, or could it be that they are overwatered?
