Help with my 150w HPS Box

Okay, so I'm pretty new at this. I've been reading these boards for months now, and I've finally begun gathering my equipment, here's what I have:
150w HPS Light
Mylar Foil
(2) 120mm Computer Fans
Ozonizer
Soldering Iron
Extension Cords

And I'm going to Wal*Mart later today to pick up the actual box (probably a Rubbermaid Tub)

Is there anything I'm missing? How should I set this up?

I was going to buy seeds buy I met this guy who has some that He'll give me, he said they're "hydro". I wasn't aware there was a strain called "hydro". Oh well. Should I go with these free seeds or just buy some lowryder or power stout?

Also, should I SCRoG this? How would i fasten the chiken wire?

i just buy stuff and start building then go buy more stuff till its about right.
ive seen two tubs stacked and then another little tub on top to house the hps. i just lst in my tubs.

well i dunno what u plan on doing with all that stuff do you? what are u using soil or hyrdo? more info, scrog would be a good idea with limited space.. Im not to sure what that guy is tryin to give you but free seeds are free seeds, u can buy some lowrider if you prefer.. This box u speak of, a rubber maid? be sure you dont make fire.

yes i would make a cool tube or similar to house the hps. true hydro is a type of growing with only water etc not a strain of plant. if you want to save money and time take the free seeds or save your own from a bag you buy.:rasta:

So you guys think that it will get too hot in there? What's this "cool tube"?

And, I had planned on using soil, would hydro cost more?

cool tube is where to hps is housed and fan cooled seperately from the cab, keeping the cooler.

hydro is harder for beginning. don't know about cost as i've never done it but it is more work.:smokin:

first let me say congratulations and best wishes on the start of your growing adventure.

The variety of seed you purchase or accept will make a big difference in the results as a beginner or not. I have never heard of a strain named "hydro" and it sounds your friend is unknowledgable. I am always checking out the seed banks and "hydro" is a method of growing, not a name of a genetical strain. Beware of that. You need to know what you are growing for best results. For example, sativas tend to grow TALL and probably have a longer flowering period and give rise to a slightly different kind of buzz. Indicas tend to stay shorter and bushier if you want them to. It is best to have the same variety in your garden as a beginner in my opinion. I recomend you buy female seeds too, so you won't have to worry about identifying males and reducing your crop. Start with this advice, you won't be sorry.

i would suggest getting or building a small cabinet over a rubber maid, u will enjoy the extra room, it doesnt even have to be that big, and it will be more stable. the hps light can be put in a clear glass tube and vented, very good idea for small grows using hid lights that get very hot, even tho a 150 wont get that hot, hot enough to kill the crop. but it will work. search cool tube and check out some of the cab grows in here, you will get more help reading up on there threads then anything becuase u will have pictures we dont have and explinations we dont need. Most of us, me being one of them have good amounts of space to work with and it seems to be alot different on how much space you have.
