California Assemblywoman Sally Lieber plans to give California parents a lesson in parenting â?? whether they like it or not.

Next week, she will introduce a bill that will outlaw the spanking of children under four by their parents, a move that has sparked a flurry of both criticism and support in California and beyond.

Lieber believes that banning spanking in such a way is the logical continuation of laws that banned slavery and protected women from being beaten by their husbands.

There is No point on Hitting a one year old, but at 3 my son was a handful, and I dont remember spanking him that young, im sure he got a swat on the butt, every now and again......witch he deserved, and he would agree.

Once again...Libs trying to make more Laws, bigger goverment......

Isnt there laws against child abuse allready?

I'm a hands on grandparent and don't believe in beating anyone to make them come around, But my 4 and 6 year old grandaughters know when push comes to shove, a swat on the butt will get their attention. Kids of that age need a strong figure in their lives, but not as a bully. I try and reason with them, but there are a few swats on the butt that has made them respect me more than all the talking I've ever done. Maybe a trained child psychologist could do it hands free, but not everyone is that gifted, and yes if people are beating their children, then the state must interfere, otherwise, stay the fuck out of parents business. My dad used to beat my ass, maybe I deserved some of it, but he enjoyed it too much, that is what I call excessive behavior and needs to be curtailed!

I agree with ya, every now and then a bit of an attention getter is alright but there's really no need for an ass whoopin'.

I got lifted off my feet every now and then but I had a buddy that was flat out abused! His ol' man used to tie the boys hands around a post in the basement and whoop their asses with a hose. Hope that fuck is burning in hell.:mad:

The way this law is set up, sounds like a reminder would be an offense.......just not right. Like what was stated, I thought there were child abuse laws already.
